From my experience with SDL tools, I like how it makes big projects easier while it has features to work on different files formats.

I think the most annoying thing is Tags and how it affects on the text.

I recommend using SDL Trados GroupShare to increase productivity and quality of projects.

Restoring long and old files, also creating Term bases to keep consistency.

Trados GroupShare makes it easy to work on translation projects involving many translators and languages. The software makes everything much easier, from assigning to delivering the project. It's also very convenient to be able to work online on an environment most translators are used to.

The process of checking in/checking out the files is a bit more cumbersome and unecessarily complicated than simply an autosync feature that would allow you to edit the file even after delivering it.

From a translator's perspective, it's very convenient not to have to worry about dealing with manual delivery of files (and focusing only on your translation) while also being able to work on an environment you're already familiar with.

I practice and use this daily at my translation agency as a project manager and is one of the software I use primarily which makes my tasks and project management more comfortable. As a project manager, I am able to access the program easily by tapping into glossaries, which is also accessible by all my teammates. We frequently use this for translation and proof-checking projects and SDL Trados Studios have benefited this by giving access to memories, terminology and self-learning translation machines. An example that could be mentioned is that the Studios is able to store large volumes of content. The quality of voice and brand is able to remain consistent across varying and a myriad languages and projects through the usage of dictionaries, glossaries and quality controls. Besides, our team has able to lessen the time required to finish translation projects with features that benefit collaboration and task management. New terms can also be prepared as our squad members can add to them and be shared along other members.

Despite that the program offers many useful features and is one of the best programs used on every single day in our company, the price is too expensive even for a company of our size with large to medium clients. Very frequently we have limited licenses not only to optimize costs, but because it is actually the most cost efficient of what we can give. Aside from the high costs occurred when using Studios across the company, it is also encouraged to purchase the professional versions as only certain features and functions are included in them. New features are slowly introduced into the program which are available in other competing softwares.

Strongly recommended keeping hold of previous versions to optimise saving costs.

The business problems that have been solved using SDL Trados Studio is that our team has previously faced inefficiency. Today, we are capable to complete them much quicker with the usage of this program. Over time, as we get more licenses from older and newer variations, our approach to the studio has been greater as well as our efficiency. This shows that using SDL Trados Studio has improved our efficiency as a company and project management team.
