"Simple and configurable way to manage documents and content"

What do you like best about OpenText Documentum?

The content management in Documentum is straightforward and simple. It allows users to configure based on industry and structure it through stakeholder's desired category

What do you dislike about OpenText Documentum?

The interface and color are the same and cannot be configured. It is used more on the user's folder structure. Also, the organization will have to asses thoroughly the permission access since the ACL applied is inherited by the subfolders.

What problems is OpenText Documentum solving and how is that benefiting you?

There is a bulk of data to be processed daily by the organization. Through Documentum, the ease of managing these documents and content is made available. It can also be applied with a lifecycle to set the document's birth and death.

"It's a pretty useful platform"

What do you like best about OpenText Documentum?

The admin tools are easy to use and controls over the properties of a particular file or folder are particularly decent

What do you dislike about OpenText Documentum?

The UI could improve. User interaction could be more vibrant.

What problems is OpenText Documentum solving and how is that benefiting you?

Helps in creating hassle free repositories and managing them with ease. I can easily upload content and decide access privileges for other users.

An online repository.

PROS: Documentum gives us the ease in knowing that our data are properly filed and protected.

CONS: There are times when the program would lag--but this is just about the only complaint I have about Documentum.

What are the best aspects of this product?

Others may consider Documentum as one of the major pillars in document management. What I find impressive is that it has a structure that is so powerful and sturdy that it has managed to withstand the test of time. If you ask me, that is a feat that is worth a recognition enough in itself. I know that some of the biggest data management solutions have patterned their framework on Documentum. In my world, I know that this program is a force to be reckoned with. Other than all of these, I also appreciate how it allows the users to customize according to their preferences too.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

To be honest, I think the undoing of this robust giant happened when EMC took over its operations. A lot of its newer initiatives have been a flop--their WDK, DFS, and ever some of their licensing features. It would have been better if they stayed in an autonomous program.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

We’ve managed to track our files from its conception all the way to its implementation.

The complete package!

PROS: This program is the complete package. Not only does it have a full range of functionalities, but it’s also flexible and reliable in build too. It serves me and my team pretty well. Not to mention, their customer support group is pretty helpful as well.

CONS: I don’t have any complaint about this program. I’m excited to see what their next update will be.

Keeps an impressive history of versions of documents.

PROS: The best thing about Documentum is that we can see the history of edits done on certain documents. We can easily export specific elements of documents too.

CONS: Managing Documentum on a larger scale can be quite a challenge. I needed to duplicate preferences and access across multiple users and I had a hard time doing so.

"Review of Documentum"

What do you like best about OpenText Documentum?

The product has evolved for long time, the user experience is quite intutive, and we hardly encounter any issues while useing the application. Wyswyg editor is the best among most of the ECM tools in the market.

What do you dislike about OpenText Documentum?

Only thing it should have been better is to provide better help content which is contexual and start incorporating AI for the user journeys.

Take initiatives to expand the communities and documentation. We find large number of documents and help for other tools like Adobe, Sitecore and Drupal.

What problems is OpenText Documentum solving and how is that benefiting you?

We rollout Documentum for enterprises. The content management system is being used by our clients for content authoring and undergoes a review process at different levels across their business units and our client regional marketing leads. It is overall helping by establishing and end to end business process.
