User-Friendly Interface, Robust Performance, Versatile Feature Set, Strong Security Measures
Lack of Advanced Customization Options, Occasional Software Bugs, Limited Hardware Support, Steep Learning Curve for Beginners
Synology DiskStation NAS units are widely praised for their user-friendly interface, making them an appealing option for both home and small business users. Users appreciate the robust performance, wide range of features including backup, streaming, and remote access, and the emphasis on security. However, some users note a lack of advanced customization options and a learning curve for beginners. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the cost of the devices and limited support for older units. Overall, the reviews suggest that DiskStation provides a reliable and feature-rich solution for data management, but users should be aware of potential limitations.

Linux-based Disk Station Manager comes with a lot of features like backup, cloud, streaming, etc. we can access our data anywhere from DDNS, QUICKCONNECT also very secure to use, and no data loss as it comes with raid types and all
Disk Stations are very costly and if they have hardware some issue after the warranty is over. Synology does not have a repair center nor does it make or sell parts for old units still to attempt to repair them.
Large data: buying a cloud service is a bit tricky and costly so, the best solution for data backup is Synology Disk Station and which comes with great data security and data loss mechanism
The interface is easy to use and has a wide range of features that can be implemented for the NAS this manages.
There is nothing that I would say is negative about my experience.
Having a centralized file storage solution with the ability to manage access restrictions was important for our environment.
DiskStation gives you "remote login" support essentially to your Synology NAS. It has built in apps such as PLEX for media consumption as well as Hyper Backup, it allows you to upload and save for backup all media such as pictures and videos. It is an amazing service with incredible support and an amazing forum that can allow you to access basically any answer/solution for any question with their incredible user base.
It's a closed system for better or for worse in their application pool and requires a lot of time for configuration to make it work as intended. It would be nice if they have more systems that were a single click for secure setup instead of needing to follow online tutorials to get the best setup/configuration.
It gives me an in-home backup of all my files. It's incredible as a backup for my phones using Synology Photos to auto backup all pictures/videos from my phone directly to the Synology NAS. incredible.
liked the fact that everything is so easy to use, no need to read the documentation at all!
Everything has been smooth, there is nothing I didn't like.
The biggest problem I've solved with DiskStation is the time! I don't need to worry, I don't need to spend time checking that everything is working as supposed to.
Its very easy to use and easilyunderstandable.
Till now, didn't face any issue which leads to dislikeness.
We are using as a data backup storage.
The best thing about Synology is the feature set
Right now would be product availability due to shipping constraints (not really Synology's fault)
I've found Synology to be the best solution for a variety of different situations. Your mileage will vary, but feel confident that this product can help to solve many problems.
High-speed file server access for businesses. Multi-location synchronization of files. Easy off-site backups. Storage for local backups.
We initially purchased it as NAS, we wanted a fast way to store and share files in our office and store daily backups of all our computers. And it works flawlessly. You can create as many shared folders as you like, you get granular control of user's permissions, and you can securely access your NAS from outside your network.
We now also use it as a chat server (Synology chat is like slack, but you own it) and to host Synology's productivity apps (like Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets, without the surveillance and selling of our personal information).
Setting it up took as about a day (we are a small company without an IT Department), so it could be a bit friendlier towards the non-technical administrator. It has a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it can do wonders.
- Having a shared drive that everyone has access to.
- Having our own chat server.
- Having our own productivity apps, knowing our information is secure and won't be sold to advertisers.
It's straightforward to configure and easy to recover or import the data in the device failures. System Administration, user management, and can deploy VM and containers directly. It's very reliable storage, as I experienced for the hypervisor.
As such i did not find any thing to say that I dislike any feature or the solution provided by the disk station. Let us get an option to self configure the security as per our wise.
With DiskStation, I have the solution of my companies data space issue and file system management, data protection against hardware failure, and direct deploy container to hypervisor.
Synology has completely replaced all of our previous cloud storage options with a long-term solution. Rather than paying annual fees for something like DropBox, we bought our DiskStation and own our own service using Synology Drive. We use Synology Video Station to create our own streaming media service for our children's classes. We use our DiskStation to record and maintain our security camera footage.
There is absolutely nothing I would change about the Synology at the moment.
Collaborative document editing; file storage; content streaming; desktop backup; security camera footage storage

The bes that i like about DiskStation is easy to use and configure. Works with 3rd party backup applications. User access control policies works like charm.
The DDNS technology it uses is bit confusing and difficult for common man to use it
As i have I'm always on move and our/my files at times need to be used access by different users. Synology DiskStation makes this easy as all files are are in same location
