WorkOS saved us a lot of time when we implemented SSO and SCIM provisioning in our application, they offer good support, they've been pretty attentive whenever we need assistance.
I don't have any complaints about their tool.
Integrating various services can be time-consuming and we needed to implement SSO and SCIM provisioning with different providers such as Okta and Azure, we built one solution that can handle any provider by using WorkOS.
Implementing WorkOS was a very easy project due to their clear documentation and extremely helpful support. By using WorkOS, we were able to integrate with many more HRIS providers than we would've been able to otherwise. That allowed us to expand the number of prospects we are were to target for our product as a result.
We are always interested in further expansion of the directory sync providers we can leverage using WorkOS
Automated user provisioning, de-provisiong, and update of user attributes that are critical for our product success.
The WorkOS customer portal is exceptionally well put together. The quality and step-by-step nature of their set-up guides make setting up identity provider connections incredibly straightforward. Their API documentation is thorough and high quality. Their API itself is well thought out, simple, and flexible. If you've ever manually integrated with SAML providers or other IDPs, you'll appreciate the range of options WorkOS provides for your customers and the simplicity of offering all of them through one consistent interface.
I think their pricing model is fair. If you're offering SSO as a paid feature, it will likely pay for itself quickly.
That it wasn't around years ago when I was dealing with IDP integrations manually.
With WorkOS we can offer SSO and directory sync to our customers much sooner than we could otherwise.
Has saved us countless hours in developing critical enterprise features entirely
Support is difficult as issues could be with the customer, SSO, WorkOS, or our product
Providing SSO and provisioning for our enterprise customers. The value is that we don't have to build and support this required feature natively and instead have our product engineers working on more strategic features
The WorkOS team has been super responsive and crucial to our team as we grow!
At this time, there hasn't been anything that we dislike. Any feedback has always been handled swiftly.
We can move quickly on the sales and product front without worrying about our integration suite being able to keep up. This allows our team to work fast and flexibly and is a massive benefit to us!
There are so many SSO options out there, and it's a lot of work to integrate with all of them and to support ever-changing SAML configs, etc. WorkOS gives you a great user interface for your customers to set their own SAML config up and all of their own mappings.
As you connect more and more of your customers, the price starts to creep up there; it would be nice to look at a pay-per-use model vs. a connection model.
We needed to support enterprise SSO for all of the providers. This has saved us hours/days/sprints of work.
We primarily rely on WorkOS to provide directory syncing functionality within our product. Our development team was able to get the integration built and deployed very quickly, much to the delight of our customers. WorkOS's documentation is clear and concise, and their support team is fantastic. The response from the WorkOS support team is always fast, they have the right level of knowledge to help us troubleshoot and fix issues and escalate to their engineering team as appropriate.
As with all new products we've hit some problems along the way with the WorkOS product not containing all the features we would have liked or the odd bug/issue. As I've mentioned previously the support team are fantastic; keeping us updated on the path to resolution, helping with work arounds and letting us know when fixes and features are deployed.
Automation of user provisioning / de-provisioning via numerous directory systems without building the individual integrations ourselves is the most significant benefit we are seeing.
WorkOS was the friendliest identity service I've ever integrated with. Having written SSO/SAML integrations in house and most other off the shelf products, WorkOS offered an easy and simplified experience that I haven't encountered anywhere else
On rare occasion a change would come through that would alter our implementation, but these were always easily caught.
We use WorkOS to manage access to our private pages via a number of authentication methods.
WorkOS allowed my company to integrate with 10+ identity providers in the time that it would have taken to implement with one of them natively. Additionally, the WorkOS customer/developer success team was available every step of the way to answer questions. They are integrated into our Slack so reaching out to them was as easy as reaching out to any of my normal team members.
With each directory connection, WorkOS gives you a standardized set of fields and includes all of the other fields that would typically be available nested under raw_attributes. As a relatively early adopter of WorkOS, I found that the documentation around these raw_attributes to be lacking, and it was tough to find examples for what that payload might look like. Thankfully, the WorkOS team provided most examples when reached out to directly on Slack, but I would like to see that included in the documentation directly.
The original problem that we were solving was trying to integrate with identity providers "directories", which includes a list of employees in the company. We wanted to be able to "cast a wide net" of identity providers that we can go to market with, so the fact that WorkOS simplifies multiple provider implementations down to a standardized format for us was a big win. The feature is named "Directory Sync".

What I appreciate the most is their support. They are very responsive, patient, and thorough.
There are currently only member and admin role levels. It would be helpful to have more roles or configurable permissions. This would make it easier to allow more users in a company to use WorkOS safely.
I used WorkOS to implement a SCIM integration with Active Directory for a client. With me being new to SCIM, their documentation was extremely helpful in walking me through how to set up a test integration with Active Directory. Then their product has made it easy to understand how SCIM works and implement the changes we needed to make in our application.
