Virtuous supports more personalized donor engagement, enhanced volunteer tracking, and human-centric communication. Virtuous has helped us to stay organized and to engage with our donors in a more personalized, responsive manner.
The conversion from our old system was a bit more cumbersome than anticipated, however, the customer support is excellent.
Virtuous has really helped us better integrate volunteer management and accurately track volunteer engagement. It has also helped streamline donor communication and provide a more responsive donor experience. The integration with Stripe has also been so valuable for our team. We are looking forward the integration with One Cause.
Using Virtuous and other complementary systems is absolutely amazing! Unlike many CRM's that limit you to their own donation form or email tool, Virtuous gives you the freedom to choose. Yes, they offer those products too, but what sets them apart is their confidence in their core product - the CRM element. With Virtuous, you can easily import data from other systems through the API, allowing you to build your software stack exactly the way you want it. No more being forced into using "their" tools - Virtuous empowers you to personalize your experience and optimize your workflow. It's a game-changer!
The reporting element is not as intutive as I would like out of the box, but I have figured out how to make it work for our needs in time. Support has always been a great help if I get stuck.
Allowing us to tie together different systems and be the main repository for donor data has been the biggest victory. Virtuous is the data silo killer for our organization.
We love Virtuous because it's easy, customizable, and consistent. We have added a handful of new team members this past year and they were able to catch on to the platform very quickly after participating in Virtuous Academy. Another reason we love Virtuous is because their customer service is top tier; They feel like an extension of our team. They have helped us navigate through some major projects (i.e automations) and always ask for feedback on ways they can improve their system.
One thing we are not a fan of in Virtuous is that their Email Marketing does't allow you to add videos within the email. Our donor have to click a link to watch the video in another browser. We also are not a fan of SMS texting only because it doesn't allow you to include GIF's or Boomerangs.
Virtuous makes it easier to communicate with our donors.
- The notes' section allows us to keep track of any phone calls and/or emails we have sent them.
-The Thank you call list allows us to see who recently made a donation and who we need to contact.
- The automations allow us to not only communicate with donors when we are busy but we also have theme set to send us tasks on who we need to contact within the next few days.
Virtuous has applied as much thought to the admin UI/UX as they have to the rich data their platform makes available. Even though the platform is a complete paradigm shift from our previous CRM, user onboarding has been reasonably smooth. This has allowed our business process teams to focus on new possibilities rather than new protocols to support old processes.
Our primary downside of migration had more to do with getting valuable, accurate information out of our old system to bring into the Virtuous environment. We had so many non-standard solutions to work around prior-platform deficiencies that translation into the more thoughtful and best-practice-inspired model of Virtuous was sometimes challenging.
Data cleanliness is an ongoing challenge given our 25 years of data, but the Virtuous tools make it easier to find data issues and resolve them. This includes everything from deduplication to cross-platform integrations and general data and engagement accuracy.
Virtuous has built a powerful and intuitive tool that allows our team to integrate lead pipelines, email marketing campaigns, and moves management systems for major donors. Their customer support and new features road map are truly responsive to us. The automation features are a dream and help us care well for our donors. We use the software across teams to support our member network, magazine subscribers, and donors.
Every so often we experience slow loading times. I am excited to see them improve their direct mail partnership capabilities, as well. We are probably only two Virtuous product updates away from our VP of Communications moving all our email marketing from Mailchimp to Virtuous.
Virtuous allows us to interact with all stakeholders. We have built a sales and engagement pipeline for our member network where we bring all web sign-ups in through an open API, then utilize drip email campaigns to deepen engagement.
In the same place, we are able to manage our highest donor relationships. We use the gift ask pipeline to enter revenue projections, and the notes feature allows us to track personalized engagement. The flexible architecture of contact records, tags, org groups, and workflows allows us to keep building out the sophistication of our systems as we grow.
I love the automation tools and the focus on modern fundraising tools and frameworks. The software is very customizable and there are lots of great features that are continuously being improved.
No system has everything, and there are lots of missing features that would be great to have. The Virtuous product team is very responsive to customer feedback, though, and I love how transparent they are about the product roadmap.
Virtuous is leading the industry in responsive fundraising by providing easy-to-use tools that allow you to create hyper-personal donor journeys. They have created a product that has a very robust feature-set that also integrate with many other great fundraising tools.
Built in features necessary to a thriving nonprofit: Integrated payment processing, flexible giving/lead/pledge forms, automated acknowledgement/receipting, built in email marketing, robust data health tools, best in class workflow automation.
Major Gifts tracking is more "ask" focused than constiuent focused. It works well for my team but may not be the desired format for every org.
Virtuous provides a robust plug-and-play solution for nonprofits that want to spend less time on systems and more time with constituents. Many databases are too thin on features and don't empower their users. Other databases are clunky, bloated, and can't get out of the users way. Virtuous walks a good line of serving up the information and metrics an organization needs to be successful while being unobtrusive.
Virtuous is a total game changer for our organizer. A true CRM (not just a database), Virtuous allows us to move donors through a continuum that works for our organization. The automated marketing channels with integrated email/text capablity allow us to strategically steward donors at the lower and mid-levels through digital touchpoints.
The interface is incredibly user friendly!
The receipting platform needs some help. We acknowledge donations through myriad revenue streams and the process is a bit clunky.
Luckily, Virtuous has been really receptive to feedback and I know is in a constant mode of product improvement.
Virtuous feels like a true technologically advanced CRM platform. It's not just a warehouse for data... It learns donors and helps an organization achieve optimized outcomes. The ability to pull data segments and then speak to those donors in a seamless way helps donor retention and upgrades. The donation page platform that learns donors and customizes asks--along with pay wallet cababilities helps bring our organization forward into the digital age and keeps us competitive in the crowded marketplace.
As the administrator that handles the incoming donations, I like the ease of this system, the flexibility to make changes/adjustments and the accuracy of the automation with our credit card processor. Plus I appreciate the accurate automation. I was talking to someone who uses a different system and they are continually running into issues of rejected credit card payments on recurring donations so their balances are not accurate. I appreciate that Virutous rejects donations that are not valid. Seems obvious but I guess some systems do now have checks in place for recurring donations.
There are so many features that I'm still learning!
One downside for us is the cost of Virtuous continues to increase. We are a small nonprofit and over the last year we have had an increase in donors (a good thing!) however every time we go over 1000 contacts, the fee increases another $1560. It would be nice if the Starter package allowed for more contacts.
As we are learning all of the many features of Virtuous, it is also helping us with our campaigns and tracking where our contacts are coming from. Not knowing where most people hear about our requests, calls to action, etc. was limiting us on figuring out where to best use our resources. Tracking people with the segment codes has really helped us understand our donors better.
Another issue we were having was keeping some of our staff up to date on their donations for their specific projects. With the automated reports, we no longer miss sending this information! The staff members are automatically emailed every week.

I love the breadth of features to ensure a non-profit it effectively managed from donor relations to events and volunteers. I also love the wide range of integrations available.
Virtuous is a ittle pricy for very small non-profis, but an ideal fit for larger or fast growing organizations who need more than just a 'list of donors' in the database, but really want to focus on cultivating relationships.
Virtuous provides a one-stop shop to manage the entire non-profit including donors, volunteers, events and communications. It is an easy choice because it's user friendly and has robust integrations that minimize manual data entry and imports/exports between systems.
