Tropic removes the hassle of trying to weed out potential suppliers that are overpriced, as well as introduces us to suppliers that we may not have previously used / know about. Tropic also takes on the task of negotiating with the best suppliers to achieve the best subscription rates within our designated parameters, all while guaranteeing to save us at least the cost of subscribing to Tropic (in a sense, making Tropic a free subscription).
An app would be nice. Early on, the web browser on mobile was not user friendly. I have been told that improvements have been made in this regard, but I have yet to test out the improvements.
So far, Tropic has helped us consolidate some of our subscriptions, as well as negotiated some better rates through various methods (audited number of users, length of contract, etc.).
The software itself is great, intuitive and easy to setup and use. The people are what set this apart for me - our Customer Success Manager keeps our renewals on track and helps with any new purchases we have.
There really aren't any downsides I can think of. For those who are establishing rigor into a procurement process, be prepared for standard change management as the process is adopted.

End to end, from the team to the product, Tropic kicks ass. Between the project management tooling, the integration with our current systems and processes, the storage and centralization of all of our contracts, and the expertise provided by the team, Tropic is the most thoughtfully designed B2b solution I've ever experienced. On top of that, the team is so hands-on and provides a ton of guidance, collaborating on procurement strategy & even drafting up email templates that help us secure the best rates. I never have any doubt that the Tropic team is doing their utmost to get us amazing savings.
We move incredibly fast and initially, implementing Tropic felt like a slow-down in operations & the team was reluctant to adopt it -- "I have to coordinate w/ someone before I can complete a purchase?" However, over the proceeding months, the value was clearly displayed and the team LOVES coordinating with our Tropic counterparts and we feel like any additional effort (which is really pretty minimal) is worth the incredible savings.

I don't have any dislikes but more opportunities that I didn't even realize I wanted until they let me know it was something they were already working on (ex: docusign directly in Tropic for easy to document upload and review)
Before using Tropic our contracts were saved in dropbox with no easy visibility into renewal. Tropic combines the support, contract amounts, renewals, and points of contact in one place to put us in a position were we can be more proactive about renewals. Within a few short months they have helped us getting better pricing on multiple contracts.

Tropic's platform is intuitive and easy to use and their people go out of their way to make the on-boarding fast and on-going services valuable. To top it all off, Tropic guarantees that I will have an ROI by committing that my software savings will exceed my Tropic costs.
I love that fact that their staff is so easy to work and open to integrating collboration platforms to make those interactions even easier. I would encourage Tropic to figure out how they can expand that integration beyond Slack.
Tropic's platform manages the entire software request and approval workflow for my company. It gives me a platform to see all of my software spend, contract renewal dates, and contract details. Their services have provided me just in the first few months a 10% savings on our SaaS software spend.
