Review Summary

Tines is a user-friendly automation platform that helps streamline security operations. Users highlight its ease of use, even for those with minimal coding experience. Tines offers numerous pre-built templates for common tasks, along with excellent customer support and a growing library of examples. However, some users note a lack of detailed documentation and the need for more advanced features. Overall, Tines is praised for its simple but powerful approach to automation, saving time and improving efficiency in incident response, threat management, and security workflows.

Pros

  • Tines is a very simple automation platform that's easy to learn and set up, even without coding.
  • It provides excellent and simplified visualization of workflow automation endtoend.
  • Tines offers a robust integration ecosystem with a wide range of thirdparty applications and APIs.

Cons

  • The UI has more shortcuts for Mac than Windows machines, which can be confusing for users.
  • Documentation could be improved, particularly with clear explanations for complex workflows.
  • While Tines offers a great community and support, there could be more comprehensive troubleshooting resources available.

Automation with Tines is a game changer for our company Attestra
What do you like best about Tines?
The ease of use of Tines, the documentation, the extensive functions librairy and the existing examples already on the website and available in the application are really helpful to leverage Tines quickly and efficently. The customer support is quick, efficient and useful if you hit a wall.
What do you dislike about Tines?
The pricing model is a little bit hard to understand and hard to justify for a small business like us. We need to focus on implementing high value, frequent uses cases to prove the ROI is meaningful. On the plus side, the integration of a way to calculate the time saved per story or action is really helpful.
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tines play multiple roles in our company. Integration of old applications to our new stack, automation of boring and error-prone tasks, security alert, statistics and incident response. In the remote context that we implemented, Tines is helping us meet our regulation, processes and audits requirements with a high quality of information, standardisation of information and responses and access to the right information at the right time. We think Tines is allowing us, for the same amount of time per employee, to have a better productivity with a better standardisation of processes.

Tines Makes Security Automation So Easy
What do you like best about Tines?
I’ve been using Tines for a while now, and it’s honestly been a game-changer for automating our security workflows. The platform is incredibly easy to use, and I love how it works with pretty much anything that has an API or can send/receive webhooks. It’s like the perfect bridge between all the different tools we use, and setting up workflows is a breeze.
What do you dislike about Tines?
One thing I’d like to see is versioning with Git integration available to all users, not just on higher paid tiers. These features are essential for maintaining workflows and collaboration.
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
It’s significantly reduced human error and helped us keep our metrics at an all-time low, in the best way possible.

Tines is a great no to low code automation tool!
What do you like best about Tines?
Tines is an automation that requires low or no coding abilities based of the complexity of what you want to automate. It saves the team a lot of time when it comes to automating our tasks. We have struggled previously with other automation options, but Tines has been great so far. Their product makes API integrations easy and there is nothing so far that we cannot integrate!
What do you dislike about Tines?
For someone with no prior coding/scripting knowledge it may be hard to pick up how to Tines, but after their free training and support from their team, Tines will become second nature!
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tines is helping reduce our teams workload and the time saved from using it to automate repetitive task is exponential compared to how long it takes to build the automation.

Tines Review
What do you like best about Tines?
The flexibility and approachability of the platform are the two biggest draws for me as a user. It was easy to stand up and hook into with external programs. The platform allowed me to not only make workflows with very little coding background, but allows me to see how it would work from a raw code perspective. Our Customer Success Manager, Sales Engineer, and the support team are nothing but helpful. Being able to see my feature requests become implemented definitely helps in my day to day use of the platform.
What do you dislike about Tines?
The only negative thing I can say isn't really about Tines, but the lack of APIs or functions of other platforms to be able to hook them into Tines for automation.
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to bridge the gap between third-party platforms and our ticketing system, reducing the amount of time needed for manual report creation, and record keeping of various datasets via their Cases platform.

The lynchpin of security operations
What do you like best about Tines?
Ease of use and time to effectiveness for new users is insanely low. Their customer support is second to none, and its used continuously and constantly in our environment. The low/no code format of the platform allows me to quickly spin up demos and POCs of more complicated work, and the configuration by code keeps us honest.
What do you dislike about Tines?
I would like Tines to implement FEDRamp capabilities to alleviate the burden of self hosting.
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
It takes the arduous tasks that I normally would need hundreds of lines of Python to run on compliant infrastructure.

Automation for cybersecurity and business process improvement
What do you like best about Tines?
Tines' automation platform is a fantastic way for any professional to begin learning more about automation. Tines is flexible in that it can integrate with just about anything that has an API, while being fairly straight forward to use. Tines is one of those things that you get out of it what you put into it. If you learn the tool and the options available to you, the automation opportunities available to you are almost limitless. It is not only great for cybersecurity teams who are likely already undersized and drowning in alerts, but also for the business at large. Tines' pages are a great way to take the old "fill out the spreadsheet and mail it" workflow and bring it into the 21st century.
What do you dislike about Tines?
Recommendations to others considering Tines?
I cannot recommend Tines enough.
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
Occasional UI bugs, but the engineers are typically quick to address issues.

The Value of Tines after a year
What do you like best about Tines?
I love the no code features such as the Automatic mode for event transformation actions. The Automatic mode uses genAI to generate the Python code to slice and dice upstream data or data saved to a Tines Resource. Another reason is ease of implementation. A security analyst can create Tines workflows without the need a Comp Sci degree or a high level of proficiency in coding. In a timely manner, an analyst can create robust workflows and applications using Tines pages to block IOCs in our entire security stack using one webform or ingesting IOCs via a webhook. In addition, Tines workflows manage the entire IOC lifecycle, so Tines can sunset stale IOCs without cyber teams keeping track of IOCs. Another reason why I love Tines is the ease of integration. Tines possesses an ever-growing library of pre-built stories and vendor templates, that an analyst can use to quickly ingest data into a Tines workflow from any vendor that has a REST API.
What do you dislike about Tines?
Tines' onboarding experience, technical support and customer success teams are the best. Any roadblocks or technical issues were addressed in a timely manner.
Recommendations to others considering Tines?
After a year, I have not come across something I could not accomplish in Tines.

Fantastic SOAR and Workflow Automation Tool, and the Best Customer Support
What do you like best about Tines?
Incredible tool for automation and case management. Tines was incredibly easy to pick up and start implementing solutions with. The ability to rapidly create custom action templates allowed us to easily integrate with all of our unique tooling, and the Customer Support was absolutely phenomenal, and turned around a new integration for us in 36 hours while we were doing a POC with them. Since then, the support has continued to be stellar, and the rate at which they are adding functionality to the platform is incredible. I am in Tines nearly every day just seeing what new things have been added and working on streamlining our stories. The Tines Certification programs are fantastic for getting up to speed, and their robust library of documentation makes creating new stories super easy. Of course, a big highlight as well is the excellent library of pre-made solutions, especially since you can import a solution and then customize it to integrate with your tools instead.
What do you dislike about Tines?
Tines pricing model makes it difficult for very small organizations to take advantage of it, but the free community tier does mitigate this somewhat.
What problems is Tines solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tines lets us take all of our scattered security, governance, compliance, workflow, access, and management tools and data and connect them to each other, giving us not "a single pane of glass", but instead making sure that every pane of glass is telling the same story. Tines also enables us to quickly build, test, quality check, and deploy small, time-saving automations that help our team multiply our effectiveness and reduce the load on our small team.
