Easy Data Integration, Extensive Integrations, Real-Time Data Processing, Excellent Customer Support
Outdated User Interface, Complex Audience Creation Logic, Lack of Staging Environment, Steep Learning Curve
Users applaud Tealium AudienceStream for its robust data integration and manipulation capabilities, finding it particularly valuable for centralizing and unifying customer data from disparate sources. They appreciate the flexibility and customization options it offers, allowing them to tailor the platform to their specific needs. However, some users have noted that the initial setup can be complex and time-consuming, and that the interface can be overwhelming for those new to the platform. Additionally, a few users have expressed concerns about the cost, suggesting that it may be prohibitive for smaller businesses.

Tealium enables us to combine customer data from numerous touchpoints and sources, such as websites, mobile apps, offline interactions, and third-party systems. This consolidated data might offer a complete picture of our customer.
It provides real-time data collecting and processing, giving businesses access to the most recent customer insights and enabling them to act quickly on that information.
The platform can extend as a firm expands and is built to manage massive volumes of data.
We can only get the most recent error logs from connectors
Data fragmentation is one of the key difficulties it addresses. Tealium provides a single source of truth for customer information by centralizing and integrating this data.
Data from many sources, like as websites, mobile apps, CRM systems, marketing platforms, and more, are integrated with us the aid of Tealium Customer Data Hub. Through this connectivity, all client interactions and touchpoints.
Tealium also provides real-time data processing and enrichment, enabling businesses to instantly adapt to client preferences and behavior. Delivering tailored experiences and marketing strategies depend on this.
I love that everything is done around data, variables triggering actions or filtering flows. You can easily define your events or flags using variables in your datalayer isntead of implementing multiple event listeners like competition does. I love how easy this solution is to integrate with inhouse architecture of tracking providing useful tooling and documentation. The support is always quick to respond and to solve the reported issue, never had any issues getting the help I have expected. The suite is full of features and can be easily tailored to your needs, Tealium staff is always there to help and talk about problems or needs of scalling the solution. I am working with Tealium tools everyday. I never had any major issues with accesibility or any of the tools being down. Our company integrates Tealium with internal tools frequently as we build our tracking around it.
Some of the user experiences in the UI might need some polishing, nothing gamebreaking just quality of life things sometimes are not up to the quality Tealium provides with functionality of the tool.
It is helping us connect our platform data with E-commerce and Analytics vendors using front-end and backend integrations. It simplifies the interaction with marketing tooling and enables us to use our internal archiecture to the full as it serves us as gateway to send offline events to various vendors.
I like the visitor stitching technology that is available within Tealium AudienceStream. We leverage this to create reliable customer profiles of our site visitors.
I think the UI is a bit difficult to fully learn & comprehend. This may be a result of AudienceStream still being fairly new to us, but TealiumIQ feels slightly easier to navigate.
Tealium AudiencStream CDP is helping us better understand exactly who our customers are. We are now able to stitch together the same user across multiple devices which can benefit us by making our messaging more tailored and less redundant.
What I like most about Tealium AudienceStream is that it is platform agnostic. We can grow our MarTech stack as necessary without the need to invest in a single platform. This saves money and makes our investments more effective.
AudienceStream also has hundreds of native connectors so we can capture and organize multiple sources of data. This helps us build more accurate profiles of our customers, and communicate with them in meaningful ways.
The only downside to Tealium AudienceStream is that it can be more technically challenging to manage. But, they provide great documentation and knowledge and training. However, I advise you work with Tealium experts to properly manage the platform.
Without Tealium AudienceStream CDP we would not be capturing and structuring data on our customers. AudienceStream helps us identify and use actionable data.
Overall, AudienceStream unlocks a robust and flexible environment to fine-tune the user journey to be specific to each user's journey and known properties. Pretty damn close to the mythical personalization at scale. The ability to create rules based on a user's past behavior on owned platforms is really only limited by your imagination.
Tealium also supports connections to most major CRM and Marketing platforms, as well as the ability to bring in custom data from an owned data warehouse. AudienceStream offers a robust ability to integrate this first and third-party data with user behavior history, adding more granularity and context to the journeys and rules you want to create.
My default recommendation for any client looking for a CDP is AudienceStream.
One of the big downsides is that their CDP data model only has the user as the primary object (which, admittedly, is the point of CDPs). However, there are times when I would have liked to use a session-based primary object for logic; it's possible, but it requires a lot of creating engineering.
For companies who have a super clean (and I mean really, really clean) data warehouse, a reverse-ETL platform does offer more flexibility in data modeling to structuring around user, session or hit-based primary data objects. With that said, the use cases that these platforms allow (and AudienceStream struggles with) are pretty nuanced and specific. In general, the increased effort of setting up a reverse-ETL CDP (which is much higher) doesn't justify the newly available data models (which, at most, increases maybe 5-10% increased functionality over AudienceStream.
There is a definite learning curve to AudienceStream; I would put AudienceStream as a median effort learning curve. With that said, the CDPs, which are easier to pick up and implement, tend to have reduced functionality and flexibility. If your company doesn't have the technical expertise and has a limited set of use cases, then an easier-to-use CDP may be the right option.
Our most common use case is to introduce web and app behaviors as integral components in mapped customer journeys. Most customer journeys are limited by time-based rules or simple interactions with the channel hosting the journey. This unlocks substantially more use cases for companies to experiment and fine-tune their digital relationship with their customers.
Our second most common use is to integrate first-party data with data coming in from the web/app. This can be confidential data, or data not exposed in the web journey, such as customer-specific characteristics or mapping to offline sales journeys and interactions.
The tool cuts out lengthy and costly code deployment cycle - now, business users can make changes and publish them in minutes. This flexibility is the key. We have used the tools for over 7 years, and had a chance to switch to multiple other tag managers, some at lower cost or even free. However, the total cost of ownership with these free tools is much higher. Tealium has one of the best user interface that makes complicated things easy to understand and use. Once you pass the initial learning curve, you realize just how much power and agility you gain. If you get stuck with some complex issue, Tealium support engineers are best in class. They will help you, troubleshoot, and even write the code/solution for you. Tealium has one of the best customer support I have ever seen in the industry.
Some might think that the cost is steep, especially with multiple free alternatives. However, you should consider the total cost of ownership, including your own time.
Quick deployment, owning the connection between the data layer and the tags, ability to change and modify anything I want anytime I want, without waiting for IT to make changes.
TiQ + AS are an easy solution to manage vendor tags, enhance analytics and optimize marketing campaigns. A technical marketing professional can manage it without the need to work through IT or Web teams to implement and test which saves everyone time.
It is a technical tool that layers on itself. If there is a bug or if a step is not followed exactly right it can be frustrating to resolve without Customer Support. From a marketing perspective, the platform needs the ability to pause components associated with a campaign. Since the tool does have so many layers some campaign components may conflict with each other so a build can get complex.
We are able to take our analytics a step further by layering in our CRM data to create valuable reporting. Additional custom setup needed for analytics or vendors can all be handled through AS. Marketing campaigns are optimized with advertising retargeting and suppression based on key criteria.
There are tons of helpful training options. The customer support is their number 1 asset as they are quick to respond and are always helpful. Overall, their wide array of tools have allowed us to come up with a solution on nearly every issue or interest that comes up.
It can be hard to troubleshoot issues your product is having but the team is always willing to help. At times it feels a bit like a black box in that you know things are happening but not always easy to see exactly.
Our web tracking previously was not reliable and Tealium has given us a surefire way to observe users' behavior and easily add them to audiences. An example of this is Ticket browse abandoners which we utilize on a daily basis.
The ability to understand a user across multiple domains including offline data is really powerful. The interface is easy to use and allows to launch projects quickly. I also have nothing but good things to say about the entire team at Tealium. Everyone from sales, onboarding, to support is fantastic and really cares about our business and success.
I wish testing across devices and browsers was easier. There use to be an extension in Firefox and Chrome that allowed this, but the Firefox extension is no longer available.
Don't come into AudienceStream with a rigid roadmap because you will learn a lot during implementation. Knock out your first use case, and use your learnings to iterate and come up with your next projects.
We were looking to have more sophisticated website traffic segmentation and better understand how users were engaging online across multiple sessions. Thanks to the great integrations available in AudienceStream with vendors such as Facebook, we've been able to deliver a better client experience, save marketing dollars, and have a much better idea of our customer.

The Tealium CDP is great for easy integration to other products and the ability to see all of my customer data in one place and create audiences. The out of the box connectors and speed to setup is great as they have hundreds of connectors. This has been invaluable to our organization. They are also introducing predictive modeling within the tool (separate processing) this will be a game changer for activating data.
I dislike how when selecting audiences the dates are determined. It only selects a person in the audience for a date range if an event occurred during that time.
Having our data in one place to activate numerous audiences, acting like a server side tool for social media platform conversion tracking and remarketing .
