SwipedOn is very easy to use and was easy to set up on our iPads and through their online portal.
I believe when the SwipedOn app auto-updates on the iPads, when it launches again, you have to manually select the pad ID before it is active again. I walk past them when I come into the building in the morning and they're just sitting there waiting for someone to sign them in again. Also, I had to find a way to lock down the iPads so that people couldn't close out of the SwipedOn app and do other things. Suggestions on how to do so weren't provided as part of the setup process.
We replaced an old, manual, paper and pen-based sign in process with SwipedOn. This makes our company look more technologically advanced (which we already were in most other areas) to visitors, and removes this workload from someone acting as a receptionist.
It"s effortless to use. Also, the tracking of visitors' info. It also allows you adapt it to your needs.

The devs have made a lot of improvements over the years, and the standard sign in/out experience is very easy to manage and complete. You can also make the sign in process more robust if required, and the employee check in feature is a good thing to have. Set up is a breeze, and the main thing to consider is where and how you want your check in devices displayed since there are a lot of third party options to consider in this regard. Customer support is generally responsive, even for lower-tier service users.
There are a number of paid add on services that might be useful to larger companies, but for the most part these add ons would likely be an unnecessary expense for smaller companies that don't have large offices or multiple locations.
We have not experienced any issues with the app for some time, and the improvements that have been made to the staff sign-in experience have gone a long way in this regard.
