Stoplight provides an excellent API design and documentation platform, unlike anything else available in the market.

It is useful to:

1. Developers because they can export the OpenAPI file and import it into their development environment. They are also able to access API mocking to test their implementation.

2. Business and Product teams to be able to access business/functional requirements (beyond just the technical API specifications).

Stoplight, by far is the most progressive and comprehensive technical design and documentation platform we have come across.

There are opportunities to improve certain user experience features, such as being able to drag and drop to reorder the menu of pages/APIs and, within particular models or methods, the order of fields.

Stoplight is highly effective at providing a design-first approach to software development - consider using Stoplight to ensure APIs and technical documentation are available to both technical and business personnel.

We are utilising Stoplight to develop an industry-wide interoperability solution and have found Stoplight to be invaluable as a platform to enable collaborative technical design and centralised access to documentation - all presented in a user-friendly way.

Stoplight makes API design really easy. The graphical interface is very intuitive to use. It can easily switch to the code view and back. Even it is a web interface it works realtime when having other instances open. The git integration is well done and style guide validation is helping in avoiding mistakes and keep uniformity across all API design.

The perfect example of how software should be.

I've not come across real items I dislike. The only thing that could be really benefitial would be the option to have a so called API developer portal. A way to catalogue available API of the business and to mock them for users that don't count in the 'user' count. Another thing is the enormous price gap for the pro version. I could see this also as a pro because it means the most important features are available for a reasonable price, but rather would see the ability to select seperate features from the pro version without the need to completely move to the pro and paying the pro price.

It helps us to design our API's in an easy way. In an API first world this is very important. After that we import those in our API gateway to get them ready doing their job.

Although Stoplight.io has an array of impressive features, there are some limitations that need to be addressed. Firstly, the platform's performance could be improved, especially when handling large API projects. While it performs admirably with small to medium-sized projects

Structuring and documenting all the features of your API are very easy with Spotlight! It helps you create a scalable and easy to export OpenAPI specs which is very useful and structured!

It lacks bulk editing tools, which can make things slightly manual, but if you're familiar with json/yaml then you can be more efficient! The publish feature can be slightly better with more context into what all is changing within the API docs for better visibility!

It helps us maintain public API documentation as well as API designing. The API documentation created by us on Stoplight are very easy to use and update! The level of granularity and ease of use by users are some strong selling points!

First of all it looks like modern tools about the UX - it's really user-friendly and you can do everything without reading tons of documentation. You just open the page and start creating your API models and endpoints.

About possibilities it offers - you can create an endpoint with all needed parameters which some of them can be linked schemas created aside in the same UI. Entities can have its own children also linked from other schemas. There is also an export straight to YAML/JSON for external use. I like the versioning and email notifications with recent changes after publishing. I hope Stoplight will be continuosly growing.

I don't see any significant cons of the product. Maybe it could be less expensive or free for internal projects (special license), but the cost it's not something horrible. Maybe it could have some more generated/automated things based on AI for an instance.

We needed to have an API modelling and documentation creation tool which is easy and offer what we need. You cannot create good API maintained for years just from code. It should be modelled and documented first.
