Ability to create clean screen shots of each step of our process
There was nothing I really disliked. Stepshot helped me catch the screenshots that I needed
I was using Stephot to help create training guides
StepShot has significantly decreased the time I spent on documenting step-by-step procedures for my colleagues and creating demos for my customers. It has powerful capturing engine, rich editing toolset, and 8 amazing exploring formats including Cloud.
Sometimes the new feature they implement isn't fully described on their Help Center page and you need to ping support agents to understand it (yet they are quite responsive)
StepShot will become a great time saver for those who need to create tutorials, deliver nicely-styled docs to clients, and share knowledge within the team. Moreover, it's an advantageous solution for those who record bugs or create knowledgebase articles. The use cases for this tool are amazing!
I work in IT operations team and use StepShot to create SOPs, prepare training videos (really enjoy their auto-narration), and record bugs. Generally, I'm glad to get my workflow automatized with StepShot!
- Easy to use: After a short training period you can use this Software productive. Most steps are quite intuitive and the results will make you happy!
- One Software for the whole process: StepShot does everything from capturing, editing, adding markers, labels and tags to publishing the finished guide. You can even choose in what format you export: Starting from a series of images that you can upload and use in your CMS, there are formats like Word, PDF, HTML and PowerPoint. In the newest Version you are even able to export a video that you can narrate later on for YouTube or Vimeo.
- You get a lot for your money: There are some pricing options based on what you need or desire. From a “free” plan up to “pro-team” for more people working together, everything is covered.
StepShot is in active development and some functionality still is to be added in the future. Here and there the handling may be a little “stiff”. But I personally see this 'con' as the biggest 'pro' of StepShot Guides: Just tell the developers what your workflow looks like and what you need to be changed. For me it was a quite special way I did the screen-captures. So up to now I used a third-party tool to make my screenshots. These could be easily added to StepShot later, no problem. But today the developer team added exactly this function to their product and I can now capture everything right away within StepShot. I can't wait to see what other great features are in their pipeline to be released.
If you need to write a manual or guide for a software or just want to create a "how-to", give it a shot! StepShot has a free trial...
I am working for as a Freelancer. One of my services is to write guides, manuals or tutorials for Internet based products and services.
Until I found StepShot, I used one Software to capture the screen and some other like paint.net to add descriptions, marks, labels and tags. Since this is “destructive” editing, I had to start over once the product changed and needed to edit all pictures again.
StepShot changed my workflow dramatically towards the better. Now I can stay “in the flow” and use the product I need to review and make screenshots as I do it. These are collected by and I can edit them later with StepShot, duplicate them, change the order of the slides, add all markers, labels and descriptions. When I need to change something, this is “non-destructive”, so I can easily add or remove a marker, or just change it. After I am finished, I can export the Guide into many different formats like Word, PDF or Images for uploading.
For me, StepShot made my whole process of writing manuals faster, easier and consistent. No matter how many Guides I do for a company, the design always stays the same throughout every publication. It 'sticks' with the brand.
If you ever are to write a guide, a manual, 'how-to' or have to document a process, give this Software a “shot” and try it for free! I think it will make your life a lot easier. StepShot did this trick for me and I can't imagine to work without it anymore!
StepShot has been a game changer for me because I can create step-by-step PDFs in almost the same time as creating a video (incredibly fast), and the end result is much more beneficial and usable by the end-user.
Honestly, any business that uses software would benefit from StepShot because it can cut your on-boarding and training time down significantly, and unlike most training tools, it is easy, fast, and fun to use.
The support team is also hyper-responsive, which is fantastic!
Nothing is "lacking" for my use cases. They release new features before I can think of any that would be useful. Honestly, the only improvement I can think of is perhaps more templates to accommodate more use cases, which is not a criticism because the current templates have worked great.
Training end-users has been much faster with StepShot. I used to only create step-by-step guides in rare instances because it was too time consuming. Now, creating these guides is very fast, so I create them all of the time. These guides also work much better for videos, since no one wants to go back to a video for reference.
1> Quickest way to prepare guides , screens recorded on mouse clicks and collated automatically when done.
2> Easy and robust editing tools like annotations, Auto narration and OCR
3> Abundant export options MS Word, PDF, Video and powerpoint ( expected soon)
4> Amazing support :)
Pro version was to be launched in June 2018 - launched in Oct 2018 - 4 months late
It is a huge time saver for training staff - pays off the cost very quickly.
Makes staff training easier
I'm not a tech savvy, so the process of a new software onboarding is often painful. Not with StepShot Guides though.
It has been quick and easy. I've already saved a lot of time and hope to save much more.
I don't like that it's impossible to export to Word but guys from support told it's on their roadmap with Pro version. Can't wait to test it
Start with their free trial first. It will allow to evaluate how suitable this software is for your needs.
I'm using StepShot to create how-to guides. I regret not having it during my CS role in Namecheap Inc. My work with it would have been much more efficient, I suppose.
StepShot is very to download and install, using it is very easy and first.
There is nothing i dislike from stepshot because it worked for me very well and will always use it.
Stepshot is the best software to use.
Using stepshot since am been doing online business, it has help me for severals times to make my account verifies easily.
It's a simple tool yet it does many of the tasks I didn't even know about.
What I like the most is the number of outputs. I can create only one guide and send export it in various formats for different audiences. And I do like their auto narration for video, makes video-creation a two-click process.
Sometimes, bugs do occur. But regular software updates make the user experience great nevertheless.
Just try it out. I'm sure that after you do, there's no way back. It does the most boring part of everyone's job easier.
We're a bootstrapped SAAS startup and preparing our beta. StepShot helps us save time on software documentation & help articles and allows to devote more time on actual developing.
Step Shot Guides is a very powerful tool which helps in automating your documentation routine. It's simple but very powerful software to capture your processes and quickly create any type of documentation you need: video guides, word/PDF documents, WordPress articles etc. No manual documenting anymore,
now it's all automated for you in just minutes. I really admire about this beautiful feature of Step Shot.
Based on the features it has, the price is bit high as compared to other competitors in the market. I my personal opinion the step shot team needs to work on it and make it easily available within a affordable range. Apart from that, there are no major disadvantages of using Step Shot. Actually it rises in such a way that we are expecting more from it, i hope in the latest release they will include much more features/templates to cover more use cases.
Yes, I will recommend to others for considering Step Shot because it will definitely help you when you need to record/capture the given area or specified screens that won't move every time. The process of capturing screens for creating step-by-step documentation is very very easy, by moving the mouse arrow one can make the annotations of the screenshots. Overall the best thing which i liked the most is you have export options like PDF, word other formats.
As I said it is very useful tool and it helps us as a organisation in building some strong documents for all kind of demo purposes, especially it helps in client demos. Even clients give compliments for such a beautiful presentations.
