The software is easy to use, especially custom dashboard creation elements.

Sometimes shared reports/templates across portfolios and properties tend to be changed and saved frequently, causing issues with consistent reporting.

Make sure support is available, and you have a team ready for implementation for the product. As long as there is good back-end support, the software will work smoothly from the top-down.

It solves issues with collections, online leasing, CRM, accounting, and facilities.

I like the option that we can generate reports and create student accounts

StarRez is very user friendly and provides great customer service to clients, pretty much 24/7. The web platform is great for on the go usage and is easily integrated with your organizations internal security. Report building is the most difficult on the platform but fairly intuitive the more you are able to practice. There are a number of additional features that can be purchased for additional costs so you really need to focus on your goals before allocation of additional funds for features.

Star Rez has 2 user facing portals which have very different features. Really, they should be phasing one out and just focusing energy on the other vs having a more difficult one for low costs, forcing users to pay for the one that has better features and is easier to use.

Their web help could also use improvement. They have great videos on building reports and I have asked repeatedly for the html codes to be available below the video for easy copy paste but to no avail so far.

Do your homework. Make sure it works well (has APIs) for software you are already using. Make sure your primary staff have the ability to take time to learn the platform as there is a huge learning curve.

I like how I can pull up a room number and get current room assignment information.

The report generator is confusing, but more user friendly than the previous system we had.

We are utilizing StarRez for pulling room rosters and it has been more beneficial than utilizing hard copy rosters.

I think reporting is not very intuitive - for someone who doesn’t think in “IT” language it’s a little tough to think through how to create the report you want.

Know your business processes before you set up! It will make it much easier! Make sure your campus partners are all on board and included in the implementation process!

We couldn’t manage our housing processes well at all. StarRez solved many issues we were having! We now have effective business processes and our platform is WAY more user friendly than before. Students love that we use StarRez!

At times the system can be difficult to understand, as there are so many options for how to work the program. It can also take some time to train others with the software.

StarRez is very useful when allocating and monitoring housing. A benefit of the platform is that you can handle housing via the platform alone not requiring outside input.

I started using this software at my part time job. We use it to process packages and then use it for distribution as well. It makes the process very seamless, except when we can’t find people in the database, but it is rare and might just be an issue on our end.

I dislike having to delete inputs manually. I wish it would be easier to delete it especially since we do get busy and need to be quicker.

This definitely helps keep things organized. There is rarely a lost package, and it makes it easier to track down when misplaced.

The roommate matching and ease of changing rooms

The connection to Jenzabar doesn't automatically connect, so data in and out must be done with SSMS and SSIS Jobs in SQL.

We have students match with roommates with more ease, and we have the benefit of using the data that StarRez produces to update Jenzabar.

I really enjoy how easy the interface is for first time users. It's very easy to search for residents or resources when I'm on a time crunch at the front desk and am juggling a few things at one time..

I am not very fond of scrolling down all the way to find a resource. There might be an easier way to store resources so it wouldn't take so long to find.

When it comes to being efficient with time, StarRez offers an interface that allows me to interact with guests in a timely manner.

It has a great ease of access, very organized sections/tabs, and can forward to other systems.

I wish their app through the Apple App Store would have more features on it. It’s rather limiting and using StarRez on someone’s phone is quite tedious because it doesn’t have a mobile version.

It’s great for university housing management.

I appreciate it it’s quick nature for verifying residents.
