My interactions with Spirion have gone smoothly. The reporting features may use some improvement, it is still a useful tool that exactly meets my needs. The user interface can be a little confusing at first, but as soon as you get used to it, everything works perfectly.

I like that Spirion searches each file for so many identifying items. Spirion can do a deep PII scan. I also like that the software gives you options on removing personally identifiable information, such as crossing it out, essentially, or shredding the document altogether.

It's a big ask, but I wish the software could differentiate between certain strings of numbers. For example, if nine digits are next to each other, they are not necessarily social security numbers.

Spirion makes it possible for me to run a PII scan on my servers every year as part of compliance with my company's policies. At a glance, I'm able to see which servers host PII, and I'm able to eradicate the issues in one fell swoop, as opposed to having to search through all of my servers manually.

SPIRION offers encryption capabilities that protect sensitive data both at rest and in transit. By encrypting sensitive information, even if unauthorized access occurs, the data remains unreadable and unusable, adding an extra layer of protection against data breaches.

Flexible and powerful reporting that makes it easy to review the results and share those results with other parties. Scheduling of tasks that allows automated scans without much manual intervention. Lastly, a plethora of training and support resources in Spirion's training and documentation portal, easy to use built-in help/documentation, and explanations of each setting within the tool.

The UI is a little cumbersome and confusing at first. It's something you learn over time but isn't the most intuitive.

Spirion differs significantly from its competition because the platform primarily performs contextual, automated discovery and remediation with the least amount of false positives.

I wouldn't say there are any cons to this. The only thing I would suggest would be to update the filter system when reviewing an endpoint that set off an alert. Once you put in the endpoint name, you then have to search and then select. If it finds an exact match, it should populate automatically.

This is a very easy to use software that helps us manage PHI and ensure employees are not storing anything they shouldn't be on their desktop. The GUI is great, streamlined and easy to identify alerts. The ability to customize what alerts come through to identify birthdays, SSNs, provider information is easy to set up as well.

The ability to manage protected information that employees may have saved on their hard drive by accident or temporarily.
