There are so many fun ways to involve students in lessons, through collaboration, individual worksheets and group work. There are also fantastic game based activities that leverage teacher's content to effectively stimulate learning and revision. Using the Response tool, teachers are able to create full assessments and get immediate results which can be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet. This data can then be imported into an LMS and used for reporting, making tests and report writing a breeze! I am thrilled about the Immersive Reader, too, as it enables students with language or reading difficulty access the lessons. Lumio lessons are also very easy to create, and there is a vast library of ready made resources and lessons to use and personalise to fit the teacher and students. Best of all, Lumio can be accessed on any device, meaning teachers can teach from remote venues, in class and connect with students remotely too. And all this can be accessed on a mobile device, laptop, desktop, Apple product and SMART Interactive display. BONUS: IT IS FREE! It is easy to use from a student and teacher perspective, and is siple to implement in any educational setting. With the continuous support available through local and international support teams and the embedded help videos, there is never a time that you are left to figure things out on your own. Personally I use it all the time, in every lesson I present. It integrates well with Google, Microsoft and Apple apps. It also has integration with Canva! Simply an AWESOME edtech tool NO teacher should be without!!
A big downside is that it requires internet access, which means teachers in remote areas with spotty or poor internet connectivity might struggle with accessing lessons.
* Cost of pen and paper assessments: with Lumio it is free and easy to do assessments. This means teachers are able to use their time more effectively. It is easy to draw up assessments and makes exam time much less stressful for teachers.
* Teachers already have content in PDF or PPT format, or on Google Drive. Lumio allows you to import these directly and use them right away for teaching.
* Students are often disconnected and univolved in lessons. With Lumio, leveraging their own devices, students are actively involved in lessosn. With the handout conversion, it is easy to see what students have done and mark their responses in real time.
* I think the biggest problem is integrating ICT inot teaching and learning, and Lumio makes this simple, fun and effective!
It is interactive and has an incredible amount of variety. You are able to bring in existing lesson plans and jazz them up, use readily made materials that have been vetted, or create an awesome lesson and activity from scratch.
I really do not see a downside. When getting others started on Lumio I feel like the most significant challenge I have faced is helping them not to feel overwhelmed. There are so many useful features and some teachers do not know where to start. I like to start them off with Flip Out and once they are as hooked as I am I show them the vast array of innovative teaching activities.
Lumio keeps the students engaged. It allows students to work as a whole group or individually. It helps me monitor the progress of my students as see areas I may need to review. It provides me with immediate feedback, and it helps me provide all of my students with the tools they need for success. I can work with struggling students who are still on the task or assignment while allowing others to move on and do supplemental activities. It is a game changer.
My favorite is the game based activities, they offer students hands-on learning experiences that are interactive and engaging. Plus they are easy to create.
I dislike the Bing image search; I wish they had a google image search. To solve this, I make my Google Slides and import them to Lumio. However, importing makes the Google Slide a flat image. I wish there was a way to edit individual slides
Lumio is always updating and adding things. I love to remain up to date to see what will come next. I am looking forward to them possibly adding a timer option.
I like the fact that I can create a presentation that contains several different pieces of content. I can use a slideshow, videos, interactive activities, graphic organizers, and I can add a whiteboard on the fly if needed. I also like that I don't have to import the entire slideshow or Lumio lesson. I can just choose the slides/activities I want to use.
I dislike that I can only add videos from YouTube. I'd like to be able to add vides from MyVRSpot as YouTube is blocked in my district.
Lumio is a great way to engage students in learning. I like the whole class activities to get an immediate check on student understanding during the lesson.
I love the way it can support various planning tools including SMART Notebook, PowerPoint and PDFs, seamlessly bringing the tools together to create a unique learning experience. I also love the way it has the learner at the centre of all it has to offer, especially the interactive and engaging games that are perfect for retrieval and procedural practice.
There are some aspects of MSART Notebook that are brilliant including various fonts, screen shaed, timers that can be added to individual pages. Having this accessible on Lumio will be a game changer!
Lumio creates a higher level of engagement for students, especially within our 1-1 laptop schemes that is currently running on one of our year groups. Children are more incentivised to take risks and push their learning and feel supported by their class teacher who can 'drop in' to their work and support where needed. It is also a tool that helps support our children fo rthe next stage of their learning in becoming digitally literate, a skill that is too commonly overlooked as being something children will gain through experience.
I love that the students can interact with the pages and I get results on what they are doing. I love that I can see in real time how they are doing especially using Shout it out!
There aren't enough widgets to use on theboard when creating, and when you bring in a notebook file it doesn't work the same way it does when you are using Notebook without Lumio
Lumio enables me to see what the students are doing in real-time. I instantly know who understands what is being taught and who doesn't understand. Love the feedback and the interaction the students have with it.
easy to use, interactive, everything in one place
That I can't embed videos that aren't Youtube
Getting more student interaction with my lessons.
The ability to quickly create materials to use live with students and the ability to add a diverse set of interactive elements that keep students engaged
Lumio needs to increase it's co-teacher abilities so teachers can collaborative create, present, and collect/review instructional data as a partnership.
Increasing motivation and engagement and keeping students on task
Lumio is interactive; you can use existing lessons or incorporate your slides. It is very engaging for students and has many different options for interaction. I love how you can incorporate Youtube videos to enhance learning
The downside is having colleagues use Lumio; they seem overwhelmed with all the features. Another challenge is getting it to work correctly on Chromebooks.
I have no issues with Lumio, it is very beneficial to support education

Lumio is a fantastic cloud-based platform I use daily to keep my students engaged in math content. It truly is a one-stop shop. I love being able to import my own materials and add a little Lumio spice to make the lessons collaborative, fun and a tool I can use to gather valuable feedback.
The only current downside is that the math text feature is functional for the teacher only. I would prefer that my students have access to the equation editor also.
Lumio truly is a one-stop shop. When I am creating lessons for my classes, I don't have time to jump from site to site and then link everything in a slidedeck. Lumio has embedded features that make lesson planning so much more streamlined.
