It has a much cleaner and easier-to-use UI compared to some other options. I enjoy how affordable it is compared to some of the alternatives. We have not had many issues; typically, when they can be resolved, they are by support.
One thing I do not like about SimpleMDM is that you cannot fine-tune privacy settings per application. That means a user could disable the location tracking for the SimpleMDM app, and the device is no longer tracked (unless you put it in lost mode). This is not their fault, as it's a decision Apple has made, but it will affect every MDM solution and not just SimpleMDM.
We used to manually set up and deploy apps on company devices, but now it's become much more accessible. We can deploy apps to specific groups of machines with just a few clicks without worrying about missing a device.
Simple MDM is easy to use. Once you know where everything is and does, it works like a charm. I love seeing the location of devices and the ability to set restrictions in the user, device, or group level.
There are a bit too many menus that sometimes make it difficult to find what exactly it is that you want to find but these seem like they are necessary.
Simple MDM helps us manage, secure, and update all of our company's iPads and other peripherals remotely. It allows us to track device locations, and wipe them clean if need be.
SimpleMDM is extremely fast to get devices deployed and the flat/minimal interface makes it easy to find the section(s) that you are looking for. I especially like how easy it is to group together applications for different deployments as well as quickly search for not only the applications but the devices to deploy them to. You can search not only for groups that you have set up but you can deploy to specific devices as well.
The only downside I have found vs our prior MDM system is for Apple OS updates; our previous system seemed to force those updates with no user intervention. SimpleMDM does require some user input or you must remove the device passcode to force an update. I have also found it somewhat difficult to deploy specific settings as there is one HUGE config for the general settings, and you can only apply that entire config once. Intune will let you deploy specific settings on some of this, making it a bit more configurable when it comes to profiles.
It is a massive improvement over Intune which was used previously. The servers Microsoft appears to use are extremely slow and it can sometimes take me nearly a full day to get things to load onto a specific device. SimpleMDM allows me to see the results within literal seconds. I timed the differences on some deployments and from Intune I would wait for more than 10 minutes before I gave up and then I tested with SimpleMDM and saw the deployment appear on the device within 10 seconds. This is a game changer for our users and my ability to assist them.
Customer Service . They are prompt and easily accesible.
Not much, everything has worked pretty good so far
Customer Service and the ability to help me get it fixed.
It's simple. It's easy to set up, add new apps, and manage - which is the whole point!
Installing apps from the App store can be a bit flakey. This is likely not specifically a SimpleMDM, but one of Apple MDMs, but it's still difficult to manage at times.
As a small business, we were building and managing workstations manually. JAMF is complex, and Apple's MDM solutions are lackluster. SimpleMDM allows us to easily install and update software, run scripts, and provide overall management to our workforce at low cost and minimal administration.
The ability to reinstall apps while not allowing users to install unneeded apps on company owned devices
Not being able to make the mdm app remain on company owned devices, it can be removed by users
Keeping track of company owned devices, making sure users have only the apps needed with no ability to add other apps not needed for business use
With the transition from in-office to remote work, a tool like this is essential. We initially used it to deploy and update the Keynote app on macs but have found other uses like auto-configuring the office wifi and VPN settings. SimpleMDM is also more affordable than some other solutions I looked at.
The one feature missing from the version we use is the ability to reset the password of a local account remotely. You can lock or erase a computer remotely though.
Corporate Apple IDs do not have access to the app store, so you need an MDM to deploy app store apps. Before this solution, we had a nightmare with people forgetting their apple IDs every time they needed an update. Also gives an easy dashboard to see what OS update all the macs are on and push out updates as required.
The User Interface is very intuitive. It is integrated to Munki. Value for Money and it's great for SMEs.
It's really hard to pinpoint something as to what I dislike about the product.
Auto provisioning and de-provisioning of Mac Machines and Mac laptops. Also, it helps the end users install and update Apps independently and securely. Pushing new configurations to the managed machines as necessary.
SimpleMDM is easy to use, quick to integrate and open to adjustments. The support team is also very helpful and take recommendations on board when being provided with feedback.
The only issue I've encountered is with the mobile application requiring the user to open for the first time in order to report it's location. A further streamlined approach to deploying devices would rate it a 10/10.
SimpleMDM allows us to reduce the number of man-hours required to configure devices, and allows us to manage our mobile device fleet in a more efficient and effective manner.

Very reliable and works as expected. Always rolling out new features.
The cost is very reasonable per device, but can quickly grow as the business scales up to 100s of devices.
