It is a one stop place where everything in theory is put together.
It can be cumbersome and confusing to enter data at times.
Synergy of membership, giving and calendaring.
It keeps records of the church member, their attendance and more.
Nothing really. It's a good program. It could be updated a little more often.
Keeping track of all church members information and updating it continuously.
Comprehensive data base and financial tracking of donors
Not super user friendly. Challenging the lean each module
Be sure you use the internet based system. Your rep is key!
Data base and financials for donors
Shelby can handle any data you throw at it, in any format, in any size church. It is capable of just about anything. It is the superhero of church management software!
It’s relatively easy to get data in. It’s a little tougher getting data out in a way that is truly useful and organized. That’s where the lifelong learner part comes in...you have to be ready to get outside your comfort zone and learn at a fairly technical level in order for Shelby to really be useful.
Having someone with technical knowledge in database management, especially someone skilled in knowing how to design and extract reports, would be highly beneficial.
Communication to, and organization of, our membership rolls; financial management, budget management, and forecasting of future expenses. Making sure we’re in touch with at-risk members. Providing useful data to our “family elders” so they can properly care for those in their flock.
I use this mostly as an advanced address book and database for membership
Can be slow or hard to find some info, but improved recently in design.
Nice for printing mass postage labels
I love how it looks. It's nice how to purchase/check request can come over through AP.
It's very slow, the system is still new and has some glitches and it makes me frustrated.
Yes because its a great upgrade from V5.
We have a great communication with them and are willing to help us in every area that we need help.
We use Shelby to monitor our finances. It is a relatively clear system, with easily used coding for sorting finances into departments.
It can be confusing to find what is needed at times and I also have had issues with the excel sheet interface.
Monitoring and documenting Finances, Used to create different financial spreadsheets and look up documented information.
Inexpensive and easy to get customer service.
Reporting is clumsy and limited. The interface is old-fashioned.
We used it for accounting and church management.
The amount of things it could possibly be capable of
That you have to be a computer programmer to be able to use special features
It's a great way to keep track of our large directory. We have very specific criteria so creating custom lists has become a bit of a hurdle. It did help the admins keep all the information updated for eachother but it's not user friendly enough for any directors to use.

The ability to have personal logs for all community members, including contact information, and relationship to other members. We can see exactly which members are related to each other, and how, and which members live together under one roof. We are also able to track attendance, financial giving (online or in person), special interests, and even comments made via online portals. All of this helps us to make sure all of our church members are able to stay plugged into our community, no matter what is going on in their lives.
During the Covid pandemic and subsequent quarantine, this software has been instrumental in staying in touch with our people of all ages. We have even been able to contact long-since-seen individuals and catch up with them.
We also can make lists of contacts to be able to group them together based on age, interest, experience, or anything else, making it easy to get people together who may not know each other, but have things in common.
In the past, it has seemed outdated, but they have updated the system over the last few years to resolve these issues. The user interface has been cleaned up and made much easier to navigate, allowing a user to more easily find and understand the features that this software uses.
It can be daunting to log on and try to make sense of everything that it can do, but the ability to have in depth training from an employee of Shelby Systems makes it much more worth it than other systems.
They will send someone to your office, though it may not be an in-person event now, to do comprehensive training to make sure all of your employees are well adept at using the software.
