The Searchanise add-on gives you the ability to add more dynamic functions to the searching capabilities. For example, you can add and adjust weight to certain fields like title, brand, description, etc. This can help customers find products more easily without having to sort through irrelevant products.
The billing profile is not capable of allowing a change to a new PayPal account. They also don't have a migration service if you need to move to a new billing account. This is not an ideal situation because we need to close a PayPal account and use a new one. The accounting department at my company dispises this service for that reason.
BigCommerce's out-of-the-box native search was not set up to give the best search results and made for a difficult experience for our customers, specifically customers seeking replacement parts for whole goods.
The Searchanise search bar widget gives much better options, features, and customization than the BigCommerce out-of-the-box search bar. Being able to control various behaviors and features of chat is necessary for our business.
The cost is a little prohibitive. I think this could be a one-time-only fee. There are still some things that cannot be done with this widget. For example, ordering the results that show up in the instant search dropdown menu.
Our customers were having difficulties finding products and parts on our website and we felt limited with the capabilities that we could offer them so we needed to find an alternative. The other problem we have is that we need to switch our payment method, however, we would need to close our account and open a new account in order to do that. We will lose a lot of historical data and settings when we need to do this.
I really wanted to use and love Searchanise but after failing many performance hits we had to find another solution. I hope they can sort out their performance issues, but it seems support is unwilling to assist. I would think they would aim to build the tool to current performance standards for the web, but I guess that isn't a priority for them.
I like the features of Searchanise, but the performance is limited.
I really dislike the fact that Searchanise caused my site to fail many performance tests due to the way it loads and unfortunately they were not willing to improve the tool to fix things. I can understand that this might have been an oversight, but accepting this serious performance flaw is a major issue.
We were looking for a search tool that also had filters built in.

We had to do something about the bounce rate on our site and improve the overall search performance against our online catalogue of 120k products on our Bigcommerce Enterprise store.
We looked at some contenders, but they were all ‘over the top’ with their pricing for large product catalogues such as we have. Other players seemed only to dolly up existing user interfaces, provided additional search functionality, but little, if any performance .. and by performance I’m talking “speed!”
Then we found Searchanise. – It is extremely well priced for large catalogues. Takes minutes to install with a single click and hits the ground running returning searches as you type before you have a chance to finish that coffee and doughnut you were enjoying when you happened to land on the Searchanise page on your store’s respective marketplace.
This product literally has shaken our world. – Although it is early days, the products analytics panel is already showing us that users are searching AND .. they are searching a lot. We are finding that the response time is lightning fast returning results as you type and then providing you with a smart navigation panel which is essentially faceted search on steroids …. An augmentation to the initial search.
You won’t have to have your developers sit around panning how and where it will integrate into your store’s theme. .. It integrates automatically with your existing search fields and additionally provides a ‘sticky search widget’ which can be easily positioned to one of the four corners of your screen.
.. but it doesn’t stop with raw search capability. The pro plans include a number of merchanising features which are great at putting campaign products in front of visitors as they search.
We had no issue whatsoever putting it on (and off) our development store and it went on just as smoothly a second time on our production store. .. For overall value and performance, I don’t think you can do better if you have a large product catalogue and need performance that will impress your visitors and keep them captive
The help documentation is a little light on in places. They have started a community forum which is somewhat useful but to be honest, the product is intuitively very easy to use and it doesn't take long to work it out.
Although we are Bigcommerce Enterprise customers, making full use of faceted product filtering, we have found that with 120 sku's our visitors were often as not, bouncing off the site and not bothered to work through our filter facets. The raw search functionality that our platform offers is rather lack-lustre (I'm being nice about it) .. So we needed a solution to search performance and lowering our the bounce rate on our online store.
