We have been using SchoolAuction for six or seven years, and we love it! We did everything manually before, and it was a total nightmare. SchoolAuction is an online platform that was created to be self-taught and user-friendly. There is a help widget on every page with access to support documents and videos.
On the auction side: It's easy to track items, make lots, print bid sheets & signs, send donor thank yous, etc. It has everything you need, including the option of hosting online auctions and mobile bidding. On the ticket sales side: It's easy to set up sponsor packets, create linked accounts (with one bidder number), track unassigned tickets, etc. Guests vault a credit card during the self-check-in process. During the event, all sales are tracked with bidder numbers; at the end of the event, everyone who made a purchase is sent a self-check-out payment link, and they can settle their account using their phone. It makes things so easy! I'll be forever grateful to this software for saving us from the nightmare check-out lines we used to have at the end of an event. Since cards are vaulted, processing payments after the event for anyone who didn't do it themselves is also easy.
The landing page is simple for our guests to navigate, and the catalog page allows them to get a sneak peek of the auction items.
I also appreciate that they have other platform names which are more appropriate if you aren't a school. Our platform is called Tofino, but it's the same product. Another fantastic feature is that they allow access to all your databases of past events. I have found this to be very helpful. Every year I find myself looking back at one thing or another. You can also migrate your data yearly, so you don't have to start from scratch when creating a new event.
After the event, there are reports which can be generated to see all sales.
My only complaint is that tech support is done via email (unless you pay for one of the premium tiers). It's fine most of the time, but getting your point across to the person handling your support request can sometimes be frustrating. However, they respond quickly and stick with it until a resolution is found. The head of the organization is very accessible and makes himself available for training sessions and troubleshooting. The night of your event, they provide a phone number for on-call support.
We have one big in-person fundraising event annually, done entirely using this software. It handles sponsorship sales (and the guest tickets associated with that), single or couple ticket sales and assigns bidder numbers. Monetary or auction donations can be made online, and notices are sent to alert us when that happens. Using the software, we track all our auction items, sale items, bag raffle items, etc. Bid sheets, auction signs, labels, paddle numbers, and receipts are generated.
During the pandemic, they quickly created an online platform that allowed us to do our fundraiser virtually, ensuring we did not lose a year of vital income.
We also do another smaller online fundraiser using the software. We have also used it to create stores to sell merchandise online.

No software is perfect but Auction software has lots of tutorials and the response time to emails is great. Sometimes it seems like you have to make changes in multiple locations which can be challenging.
The sandbox site is a great tool for figuring things out.

The one challenge I found was that when searching for something, I had to click search twice in order to get to the searched item. It would be helpful to be able to type in the search item, click on the selected item, and then move to that location.

While there were many great features, the customer service provided by SchoolAuction.net was exceptional! Each question I had was responded to quickly by helpful staff who made sure to find me answers, direct me to the many features available and find solutions to any concerns.
