Do You Use Rosetta Stone?

Write a Review

Review Summary

Rosetta Stone is generally considered a good language learning tool, particularly for beginners. Users appreciate its visual, immersion-based approach and the ability to learn at their own pace. However, some find the program repetitive and lacking in grammar instruction. A frequent complaint is the high cost, and some users experience technical difficulties, including problems with voice recognition and the online interface. While many recommend Rosetta Stone, a common suggestion is to supplement it with other resources for grammar and real-life conversation practice.

Pros

  • Rosetta Stone uses an immersive approach to language learning, teaching vocabulary and grammar through reallife situations and visuals.
  • It offers a variety of learning tools, including interactive lessons, games, and live coaching sessions with native speakers.
  • The software is userfriendly and adaptable, allowing learners to adjust the pace and focus of their studies.
  • Rosetta Stone emphasizes speaking and listening skills, helping learners develop fluency and confidence in using the target language.

Cons

  • The price of Rosetta Stone can be expensive, especially when compared to other language learning programs.
  • The software may struggle with voice recognition, leading to frustration for some learners.
  • While Rosetta Stone excels in immersion, it might not delve deeply into grammar rules, which can be challenging for learners seeking a comprehensive understanding.
  • Rosetta Stone requires a significant time commitment for users to see substantial progress in their language learning.

From my experience Rossetta stone has been the best way i have tried to learn a language. having used it as a child i think it was also good at training your brain how to break down foreign languages and understand them, a skilll that makes learning language easier. "Absolutely Great way to Submerge into learning a language"
What do you like best about Rosetta Stone?

What I like the best about this program is that you are fully submerged into learning a lanagua and you get to learn at your own learning speed. There are no restriction on how you fast or slow you go.

What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?

One of the dislikes is that they don't have a reveal for the meaning of the words at the end of each sections, I feel that would help since moving from one language to another one.

Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:

If you are willing to take the time to learn a language this is a great source to use

What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am learning to speak Maderian for when I move to China to live with my wife and son. This is giving us the opportunity to learn the language at my own pace without a deadline to finish

"Eccellente metodo per imparare le lingue"
What do you like best about Rosetta Stone?

Ho apprezzato tantissimo il metodo di insegnamento basato sull'immersione nel linguaggio. sin da subito si ha a che fare con parole e frasi più o meno semplici che aiutano ad abituarsi all'ascolto e alla lettura per la comprensione della lingua. Le lezioni di grammatica naturalmente sono integrate. Nel complesso è veramente completo e ben fatto

What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?

L'unico lato negativo è un piccolo difetto nel rilevare la pronuncia che in alcuni casi costringe a ripetere più volte la parola o la frase prima che venaga rilavata correttamente

What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?

E' stato utilissimo per migliorare il livello di inglese e per apprendere le basi di spagnolo

"Eccezionale metodo per imparare le lingue"
What do you like best about Rosetta Stone?

Ho trovato molto innovativo ed estremamente efficace il metodo di immersione nella lingua. Ci si abitua abbastanza rapidamente all'ascolto e alla formulazione di frasi sin dai primi step. Non è assolutamente noioso ma anzi estremamente stimolante.

What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?

Non ho trovato aspetti negativi nella struttura del programma di apprendimento. L'unico aspetto negativo è legato al fatto che a volte non riconosce la pronuncia anche se è corretta, per cui si rende necessario ripetere più volte la stessa parola o frase.

What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?

E' stato utilissimo per migliorare l'inglese americano e per iniziare ad apprendere lo spagnolo.

"Extremely satisfied and impressed user of Rosetta Stone"
What do you like best about Rosetta Stone?

Truly excellent program that is well designed with short (5-10 minute) lessons. Program focuses on integrating listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the target language with no translations.

What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?

Minor issue, but I have not figured out how one can pause the program when a lesson finishes before it jumps to the next lesson. Often I want to write down some of the vocabulary or grammar from a particular lesson at the end of it, but the program jumps to the next one.

Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:

Try it! You will not be disappointed.

What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our program often works with adult learners in our computer labs whose first language is not English but who want/need to learn English to better integrate into American society

It truly works, one year ago I could barely speak a word besides "hola" in Spanish and now I'm able to have a normal conversation with my Spanish speaking patrons

Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:

It's a little expensive but it's worth it, you get to learn a new language in a few months

"The best tool to learn a foreign languaje "
What do you like best about Rosetta Stone?

You don't fall back to your mother tongue to learn, you see images and match them with words in your target language, there is no translation so you actually learn to talk and write a new language instead of learning to translate it.

What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?

Price tag. It's totally worth it since learning a new language helps you increase your personal and company value but a little painful to pay.

Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:

There is no better way to do business than in your mother tongue. If you are in sales and want to increase your revenue you need to talk the language that your clients talk there is no workaround.

What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?

Learning Portuguese to have better communications with our clients in Brazil instead of falling back to English.
