RoomKey is very intuitive and easy to pick up. The software offers free training videos to help get you accustomed to the processes that are involved in using RoomKey PMS effectively. I really enjoy the fact that RoomKey can be used on laptops and other mobile devices which doesn't limit it to just being used at the front desk. Another feature of RoomKey I enjoy is the color coding of the room statuses and the ease of check-in procedures.
Roomkey has some features lacking that other branded property management systems do have, such as involved lost and found service. Apart from the lack of features, some processes on RoomKey are more difficult or confusing than other systems. For example, the check-out process is much more complex and leaves more room for user error than other systems.
Consider other options because there are many other PMS options that have more features and are more intuitive.
It provides our independent resort the ability to accurately make and keep reservations, as well as organize the multiple different room types that are available in the resort. It has allowed more accurate, timely, and efficient customer service to our guests, and helping them enjoy their time with us.
The housekeeping functions were particularly useful and help our housekeeping team coordinate with other departments regarding room availability.
The main issue that I've encountered is occasional all-system failure of software. These have varied from a few minutes to a few hours.
Roomkey might not have the level of customization necessary for your organization. It would be best to evaluate the needs of your company before jumping on board. From my experience I believe that RoomKey is best for small to medium companies.
RoomKey is intuitive to use, but some of its particularities have thrown people off. Implementation with a thorough training program is essential.
Coordination across departments has been the main benefit. We have realized that we can help guests customize their stay more easily.
I like the opening screen and the ability to see all of the in house, arrivals, and departures easily in one place, and also the easy ability for loading groups and reporting capabilities.
I don't like that when searching through inventory, you can't do anything else, and that it has a hard time with checking multiple dates, so it's usually easier to exit out and restart when checking rates and availability for multiple date options.
