The ability to create invitations, form letters and letterhead for my nonprofit. Unlike other programs, images stay put and the program makes it easy to then add text, graphs, etc.
Nothing! Quark is the only program I have ever used and I have been using it since the early 2000's.

QuarkXPress 20230 is the easiest way possible to create a website.
This means that, for the first time, you can go straight from your print dfesign using your brand and your fonts and colours, to fully functioning, clean web content.
Quark have been developing the advancements in print design to digital since 2016 to stay well ahead of the competition. They have buiolt theior own PDF engine which does away with the need for another application to make PDF's and the ability to manage and edit PDFs on screen is a godsend.
Plus easy export to PDF, EOS, Android and seamless integrations with print document to digital is simply amazing. A quark user sonme the old 4.1 version, I'm glad I stuck with the programme throughout.
Not publicised enough in comparison with Adobe products, for me QuarkXPress was, and still iusb the leading industry standard for design, make-up and book production straight from a print document to digital.
The Advantage package means fdree updates for the length of the package, and always owning the software is a big plus compared to leasing or renting, but expensive to sign up to.
An easy to use, one stop programme for both print and digital output
Straight from Print run to Digital output, bypassing the need for additional software, including useful photo editing
I've used QuarkXpress for many years. Stuck in the past with QuarkXpress 7.31. I was experiencing some problems with my computer and once the bugs were fixed, I decided to upgrade to QuarkXpress 2020 and take advantage of the 25% discount offered. It's been a bit of a learning curve but I'm starting to feel very comfortable with the new look and features.
I haven't found anything that I dislike.
I haven't experienced any problems.
I like Quarks method of handling typesetting over any other competitor that I have tried. It is tremendously easy to set type for page layout applications such as magazines, books or pamphlets/flyers.
I am not crazy about using Quark as a packaging design program. In that case, it is not near as suited to the layout needs of the packaging design process. It is great for compositing items that will be printed or seen on a page but not great for items that need to be used in three dimensions.
If you are needing a page layout program for compositing or laying out type for applications such as books, magazine articles, pamphlets, flyers or most things that are viewed flat then Quark is likely a great option. If package design is the goal, then Quark is likely not the solution to design needs.
I do a variety of design work and in instances where I have to do a lot of typesetting, Quark is the best solution. Its text entry process is far superior to Adobe InDesign or Illustrator. It is not really close. Quark leaves the other alternatives in the dust and greatly enhances my control over the text that I am setting up.
Industry standards help professionals do work. QuarkXPress is an industry standard.
Quark's subscription-only business model means hobbyists must budget real money to use the program and won't likely continue using it forever.
QuarkXPress helps me with complicated designs that can be replicated for on-going jobs. This consistency keeps clients happy and asking for more.
Page layout is accurate and easy to use.
Recently I upgraded to the latest version on Mac OS Monterey and find it slow in respondsiveness.
Very powerful for page layout and print design.
I'm still learning some of the features such as web page creation.
I love that essentially, this program has remained the same for 26 years that I have been using it. The tools work well and I go do layups quickly and precisely.
I have 2 things that I would like to see improved, one thing is that often when I try to select text, I'll instead put a new text box. It's one of those little aggravations that end up taking up time. The other thing I would like it to see previews of documents in the open window.
Quark has been the industry standard since the 90s and there is a reason for that. I wouldn't hesitate to utilize this program.
We use Quark to create a course catalog. Quarks efficiency make this job go as quickly as possible and the files are always acceptable to our printer
Having used this programme for many years it improves with every update!
It works really well for me so difficult to note any dislikes apart from native objects could be type blocks and not singular from files!
It is considered a bit of a dinosaur compared to Adobe InDesign, but I use both, and Quark is still my main go-to every time.
Design, layout, and desktop artworks are always completed to the highest standards, be it books to business cards. Easy conversion to pdf for all my print jobs!
From its origins, Quark has been a desktop publishing program that closely resembles what those of us with gray hair refer to as real typesetting, going back to the days of hot metal type. Unlike desktop publishing programs which made up their own rules, Quark took the best traditions of multiple decades of professional typesetting and moved them into a workable, easy to understand and use desktop publishing program. As Quark has evolved over the decades with many of the new and wonderful enhancements, it has never moved away from its roots. The "other guys" may try to imitate typesetting with some bells and whistles, but Quark is today's version of real typesetting.
Having jumped from Quark 2016 to the newest version took some adjustment time. Still can't find a few things I was accustomed to, but, the newest version is so good, it's worth the minor irritation of relearned a few things.
A broader range of functions beyond basic typesetting means being able to consolidate many things to do into a single program.

It's intuitive for use — a one time purchase! — and the Quark designers listen to users for improvements, constantly keeping the program from becoming overloaded with unwanted features.
Quark is not as widely accepted as Adobe.
Problems: variable fonts aren't fully supported yet, and the font menu can get so large that not all active fonts show.
Benefits: more intuitive than InDesign for layout, layer control, incredible at finetuning font appearances (kerning, tracking, leading, etc.), PDF import and export, InDesign import/conversion… there's a lot here to make your experience worthwhile!
