Our company likes the flexibility and scalability of the platform. We were able to customize Pimcore to our exact requirements and connect it with a wide range of external systems. Over time, the platform has continued to grow with us, and we are far from reaching the limits of its functionality.
As a flexible framework, Pimcore offers many possibilities and functionalities. This can be intimidating for beginners at first. However, once the system is set up according to your needs, you will quickly find your way around the backend. We recommend working with a Pimcore partner to ideally adapt Pimcore to your own requirements and wishes and to achieve the greatest possible added value for your own business.
We have been using Pimcore as the basis for our website, including an online store, for several years and have continued to expand our web presence. To our original B2B store, we have added attractive content pages and store functions for end customers. Most recently, we used Pimcore to connect our online and offline commerce. For seamless cross-channel commerce, we linked our Pimcore platform with our in-store cash register system and our cooking course management tool. By synchronizing the data (voucher purchases, activations, and remaining amounts as well as cooking course dates, content, and available seats), the systems are always on the same level. Customers can conveniently purchase and redeem vouchers online and offline or book cooking classes.
We really like the integrated PIM module, which helps us to create our digital experiences in a faster way. The possibility to also manage customer data (CDP module) is very practical for managing B2B and B2C customer profiles centrally.
The asset portal extension of the DAM module is not compatible with mobile devices. We were expecting better mobile compatibility here. The user management is becoming more and more complex the more features we use. This could be made more intuitive.
We would not directly interface the product with our ERP system SAP, but use a data warehouse as a middleware instead (for better performance). Before starting the project we would immerse ourselves better with the capabilities of the product to align our digital strategy even more with it.
I think the usability is fantastic. It is very intuitive to use for our employees. We do not require training of our employees, after 2-3 days they understand everything. The system is running rock stable, we are hardly facing any troubles or instabilities.
In the digital asset management module the focal point feature helps a lot when publishing multiple image output formats from one single source. The graphical user interface for the data modeling helps non-technical people such as project managers and consultants to set up the system configuration without the need to code.
The integrated image editing capabilities do not work as expected. We are missing some features here.
Get support from the vendor in your first project and make sure to certify your developers.
Our goal was to consolidate various data (products, images, ...) from different systems and formats in one system. The import of the images was challenging and more difficult than expected. Implementing the solution worked very well and the system adjusted to our needs and requirements.
We like that the event-driven software architecture allows us to implement custom requirements and re-use many existing components of the Symfony ecosystem. The data modeling feature works like a charm because it provides such great possiblities for scalable data models. The user interface for accessing and editing data is very intuitive.
The product user interface seems quite technical and could confuse non-technical customers. The developer community is still quite small (for example compared to Drupal). This can make it take a long time to find out about some issues in forums or community platforms.
Get your data models straight!
We like the product very much because it is so flexible and we can implement nearly every requirement with it. The start was not so easy as the community was quite small. Sometimes we were stil facing smaller bugs which had not been fixed yet. When facing problems it is great that you can look up a lot of information in the Symfony documentation, because Pimcore is based on the Symfony PHP framework.
The flexible data models and that every data record which is connected automatically stays up-to-date and consistent.
The lack of frontend capabilities for a simpler and reduced data management experience.
We love the flexibility of the data modeling. Sometimes we face issues with the interface on smaller screens. We are missing a frontend for data entry, which is not included. If we want customized data data editing and managing interfaces we have to develop them from scratch.
We like especially that it is easy to use and configure and very flexible to adapt. Our software developers could get started quickly and did not require a lot of Pimcore-specific knowledge, because a lot of the functionalities are based on the Symfony PHP framework standard components.
There is no default cross-table support. We cannot assign an entity properties without workarounds.
Very flexible and easy integration with any ERP system. Fast realization of omni-channel output. Highly flexible data modelling capabilities.
The easy and self-explanatory handling of the system. Compared to Hubspot, we can setup the layouts a lot more comfortably and dynamically.
We are missing a search feature for web document pages. Keeping an overview is sometimes difficult when managing hundreds of different pages in a multi-lingual enterprise environment.
We especially love the multi-lingual capabilities. We can just copy one language-tree and paste it to add new languages quickly. It is very intuitive to use. Multiple users can collaborate easily.

Pimcore is the main touchpoint where corporate information and assets reside (multifunction hub).
We use the solution as DXP for major tour operators and various industries who need to centralise, rationalise and elevate their digital information.
Also, B2B solutions are enhanced thanks to the platform.
The solution is not usually requested for its e-commerce features but we recommend Pimcore for all the aspects mentioned in the pros.
Pimcore solves the hustle of managing complex data context where the company needs to share information both internally and esternally.
