"PastorsLine makes it easy to text groups, individuals and/or everybody on your list"
What do you like best about PastorsLine?

The ability to break up the main list into small groups by ministry, teams, committees and any other groups you wish you make.

Easy registration by using keywords, campaigns and through polls. Allows me to gather contact information without having to enter each individual person's information. Instead entries are made by the individuals themselves when they send us a text using a keyword.

When you call them you will most likely speak with the boss himself and get direct information. They are always willing to listen to feedback on how to make the platform better. They are constantly improving the user experience. The price is great. For the number of text messages that I send, the price is pay more than worth the investment.

What do you dislike about PastorsLine?

The interface is a bit clunky. When you get a response from someone through the platform it's not easy to know if you're responding just to that person.

One could easily have so many contacts and not know if they are active recipients.

Recommendations to others considering PastorsLine:

In order to better communicate with your organization, church or ministry, PastorsLine will keep you constantly in touch.

What problems is PastorsLine solving and how is that benefiting you?

Communication has improved. What would take maybe a couple of hours to notify people by phone calls, now is done in a matter of minutes through a text message to everyone registered.

I am able to send messages to specific groups, teams, language groups.

When there's a last minute change that needs broadcasting, PastorsLine solves the problem within a matter of minutes.

"Highly functional with a design that's well on it's way"
What do you like best about PastorsLine?

Functionality and vision. PastorsLine is focused on engagement - not announcement. From the 10-digit number to the Inbox-style notifications, everything is focused on engaging with people in the way that is easiest for them - SMS. They also do lots of training focused on helping churches personalize their processes using SMS.

What do you dislike about PastorsLine?

Their design is behind, although it does not harm the functionality. Luckily, it's in the process of being redesigned completely! Over the course of 2019, they are looking to redesign almost the whole experience - which is a very good thing!

What problems is PastorsLine solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are using PastorsLine to create highly effective and highly personal communication pipelines. Every process we use PastorsLine for has seen huge increases in engagement from church attendees.

"This is a good way to get mass communication out, but is not very user friendly. "
What do you like best about PastorsLine?

The most helpful thing is the fact that you can easily send out mass text messages. It is a very effective and “up to date” way to get information out, especially to students.

What do you dislike about PastorsLine?

Pastors Line does not automatically update, which is confusing. We sync our lists with church community builder, and you have to wait until overnight for it to catch up.

Recommendations to others considering PastorsLine:

I'd recommend syncing with another software. It helps to keep groups cleaner and more accurate.

What problems is PastorsLine solving and how is that benefiting you?

I’m having problems deleting people out of groups. It is never clear whether or not they have been removed.

"Interesting service that does not function as expected & seems to operate in violation of CASL"
What do you like best about PastorsLine?

This is a simple service that provides in-depth texting options for connecting with new people & current people at churches. The setup system, although overly convoluted and difficult to use (more on that later), was quite powerful and provided me with a number of options that I found extremely useful, such as customizable follow-up texts & customizable follow-up texts asking for personal information. The texting system itself seemed useful, albeit not all that intuitive, and did its basic functions well (i.e. sending and receiving texts)

What do you dislike about PastorsLine?

I originally came to try this service as part of a free trial they provided to test out their planning center integration. Needless to say, I left the service rather quickly due to the reality that they only provide one-way planning center integration (i.e. you can import people from planning center, but can't export people to planning center). I was hoping that the service would be able to update people's contact information (i.e. cell phone numbers) on planning center, but found that when people signed up via text, it created a new account for them that was not linked with the people imported from planning center at all.

Furthermore, I disliked the website's UI - I found the colours were distracting and childish, the UI was unintuitive, cluttered, and confusing (lacking any sort of discernable "settings" area but rather hiding settings in other menu options that made no sense). Since I tried the program, they did fix an issue with the transparency of the top menu (which used to be indescernable because it was transparent and would morph into the information on the different pages), so good for them.

I also found that the texting aspects of the service functioned for basic tasks, but completely failed when I tried to do more complicated things. I found that deleting a phone number from the web dashboard and trying to resubscribe via text to that same number caused the system to glitch and fail to send any sort of welcome text. Furthermore, the lack of a 5 digit "text this code to [ex] 56789" was a let-down - that is a basic feature that I expect from any texting service.

The only other issue I found with this service was how they automatically, without my consent, in violation of CASL, signed me up for a mailing list that I did not want to receive, and could not unsubscribe from. They then proceeded to contact me several times a day via email using different email addresses, and later on to send me texts; again without my consent. As noted before, this is a violation of Canada Anti-Spam Legislation; and as a company advertising themselves to Canadians, I expected the company to be more in-line with the basic legal requirements of the countries they work with. Furthermore, their disregard for Canadian Law is concerning, because it makes me wonder what they do to help their customers stay within the boundaries of the law.

Recommendations to others considering PastorsLine:

This service seems to be improving, however it can be a pain to implement. Seems to be amazing at setting up a texting service for church members, however be prepared for a steep learning curve in order to figure out the UI and properly set up the service to fit your needs.

What problems is PastorsLine solving and how is that benefiting you?

I came to PastorsLine to solve the issue of having up-to-date information on our members, as well as to help solve the issue of communication with people who don't frequent social media. I left right away when the service didn't do the basic feature I expected it to do (i.e. update members information on planning center), and did not have enough value to justify the cost (vs. using another free system such as Remind)
