Beyond the fact that it automatically detects the components in Fusion 360 and extracts the dimensions, this tool is actually really easy to use and set-up. Also the exporting of the spreadsheet is great.

The columns of the table are not so easy to edit.

Giving me a tool that saves time by making a very useful spreadsheet for bulk stock.

I loved the fact that it will integrate into online CAD programs to directly pull relevant data and files and present in an optional multi level BOM. I use it for personal projects and SOLIDWORKS for work projects but I definitely see a value in moving to Open BOM for work in the future.

Nothing that I have found yet. I'll need to use the software further to understand what it is missing.

Creates a good part list so I never loose sight of what needs to be done for each part before beginning assembly. Often I have forgotten to finish a part before beginning final assembly only to have to abandon it to finish what I forgot.

Multi-level BOMs can be built using OpenBOM level by level. Both top-down and bottom-up methods are acceptable. Therefore, you can record a list of software components at any time and add it to any assembly level in the current BOM.

When tapping on Onshape, Open Bom doesn't recognise any geometry-related elements.

Some aspects, such as engineering change requests and revision workflows, need to be improved.

For years, my business has utilised an Excel-based BOM. Both upgrading and maintaining it have been difficult for us. We will be able to transfer our BOM requirements without too many problems, in my opinion, based on my experience utilising OpenBom thus far. We expect that the integration with Solidworks will significantly alter our situation and get us closer to a completely automated BOM.

Pros - Very easy to work and detailed every material you need to put for project and specification you have.

Fast and efficient, the free option is great, it is a real alternative to the other premium platforms. The integration, features and implementation are very easy to use with the youtube chanel. It is really a useful tool to work every week on it. And, the customer support is really comprehensive and fast.

There is a lot of upgrades because of the development so there is some issues sometimes.

Working in team on 3D models.

The free version is a great alternative to GrabCAD. The best feature for my needs is the ability to collaborate on a 3D model. We can share our designs with our partners and work on them together.

Another surprising aspect was the exceptional customer support I received while using the free version. I reached out for debugging assistance and to my astonishment, I received a prompt response from the CEO within minutes.

Finally, implementing, using, and integrating are all made easy with the active OpenBOM YouTube channel, which has published several tutorials about these topics.

The interface undergoes frequent changes with updates, which occasionally leads to some issues. However, it gradually improves over time. The updates enhance user-friendliness, making it a hidden blessing.

OpenBOM facilitates smooth teamwork on 3D models by enabling seamless collaboration within a team.

The whole process of going component by component and give you recap information is very useful and time saver. The fact that I downloaded the fusion 360 version and within minutes I was using it without any experience really expreses its simplicity and even though I never considered a BOM for my project, I did not needed to start over or even do any setup, it just worked at even the last phase of development. I see it very manageable to use it from now on on any of my projects since it is the most efficient way to do it. Also everytime I had any problems the customer support was really responsive.

The whole exporting with filters and exporting in general is sometimes very unresponsive. It sometimes logs out of the user but not that often.

When I am designing my 3D models I see that I work with multiple components that share other components, finalizing in a big assembly that has lots of repetitive components and a bunch of different stock components. I see OpenBOM as a tool that gathers all the different parts and allows you to display them in a very customised fashion, allowing you to see for example, how many M3 bolts there are in the whole assembly.

Such an easy program to use. The breakdown of BOM's, descriptions and photos are so easy put together. You are able to create each item individually and then put together the BOM's along with pictures which extremely helpful.

There is really no dowside that I have seen. Very to the point and very easy to follow.

It is helping create BOM's that we are using in another program. I am able to copy and paste into directly into the program without having to create it from scratch in two places.
