The ability to control Fob readers and doors from the computer. Especially the all lockdown button which offers security to all of our tenants.
Having to re-up the license every year is quite expensive. Especially since we use an outside entity to service our security needs. It's a crying shame that they update the software every year. So the brand new software you just paid for is outdated before you know it.
The ability to assign users to specific zones. Deactivate cards when lost or stolen. Print reports verifying that our lists are accurate. These are all awesome features to use. However, my most favorite is programming the doors to automatically open and close. It really keeps our program running smoothly.
I can see who is accessing what door just sitting in my office using OnGuard. I can easily create badges, modify badge, deactivate badge even open any doors of the facilities just from sitting in my office. You can easily connect your alarm system and camera system so whenever any alarm goes off the System will automatically pop up the camera of that area and also show you what type of alarm went off. If you select AutoCardHolders option the screen will display the cardholders information such as name, access levels, area where badge was used, department, title, etc. whenever they scan a badge anywhere within the facility which is very useful during emergencies to locate people. OnGuard can also be used to track employees incoming and outgoing time. If Antipassback is activated it can stop unauthorized access as there will be no piggybacking. You can give specific access to specific individuals which is very helpful for Defense Contractors who have classified items or propreitary information in labs or closed areas.
The one thing to dislike the most about it is that the software itself is very expensive. Also you need to buy license separately if you want to use it on another computer. The badges are expensive as well. Besides that it is a great software for any organization who wants access control and stop risk of espionage or unathorized access into certain areas.
Using OnGuard helps us to give specific access to specific employees. If they dont need access to certain areas we dont give them access into their HID Badges using OnGuard. If someone lost their badge or misplaced their badge we can easily deactivate it using OnGuard so no one else can use that badge if it goes to wrong hands. I can track down and employees daily activity so it can be used as survelliance. OnGuard has a lot of benefits so i suggest Employers should get OnGuard software.
Onguard is a good app for managing building access control system, Badging and visitor Management.
Onguard's Client app is bit slow when you use it remotely and consumes lot of time to process each visitor.
We use onguard to manage the Building access system, Badging and Visitor Management.

This has really allowed me to control foot traffic in my building. I can control who has access to what door. I am also able to designate specific leads on my off days to have access to all doors and then the system automatically turns it back to general access during the week. Its very easy to add new employees to the general access list. I like how the doors alarm when they are held open to long as well.
The program on my computer is kind of slow and often closes out. When i'm also searching for a cardholder, its very slow. And when someone is seperated from the company, its hard for me to deactivate them on the system. It gets clogged with so many names. I would like for them to delete all together when their vendor numbers are deactivated. It would make it easier to look up the new employees.
Make sure the computer you are designating is up to date on installations. Otherwise the computer will crash or the program will crash. Its handy to have a list of employees employee numbers so you can look them up by number. Having just the name is not helpful because there will be multiple names in the system especially with a big company.
Who has access to specific doors in my warehouse. I am able to control by badge access. I am also able to turn individual badges off. I am able to create access panels for specific employees that are not allowed inside the warehouse and those that are allowed in. The doors are locked with key card access only. I am also able to place temporary construction employees on the system so they can have temp access while doing work on the building. That way no one has to open the door every 10 - 20 minutes for them.
