With this software in use, I don't have to use any other external app or software for file sharing or communication, as it gives my organization everything we need.

Being an Odoo user I really like everything about it from an organizational perspective, and since I have only been using it for less than a year, i am yet to explore the drawback. For now, everything is working really well for me.

Being an open source application, it may not have all of the bells and whistles as compared to the better-known and more expensive applications. All in all, you can get by.

It is easy ti use and at the same time integrated with other (sales, crm, accounting,...) apps which utilizing there features over the chatter tool.

Also it is a great way to communicate with your team internally or all the company members and they can easily get notified using the mobile app or the web browser.

The user interface can be enhanced for better user experience. But nothing really bad about having a builtin chatter tool within your ERP, eventually it is do what is required properly.

You can have a discussion under every and each transaction and also attache any related or required documents which is easier than back and forth emails.

It is also unlimited to use.

I have the ability to send instant messages to my coworkers or to send and receive order-related emails. I can send a quotation. The discuss app chatter allows my coworkers and me to stay updated on order status and customer communications.

If you manage your email through a provider such as Google or Office 365, Odoo requires a separate catchall account for outgoing email and bounced email. There is no facility for assigning an email alias to the same account and having Odoo separate the emails accordingly. I have had too much trouble with customer's email providers such as AOL, centurylink, embarqmail, windstream, etc. blocking email from small companies, regardless of blacklisting or other metrics. So I didn't attempt to manage all of our emails through Odoo, though that is an option.

If you need support configuring Discuss, I highly recommend having a success pack with Odoo. Working with your SPoC (Single Point of Contact) will speed up the configuration greatly. For some reason, the incoming server settings are not found with the outgoing server settings. You can type an email from the main screen and find the settings that you are looking for.

Since the outgoing emails can be managed directly on the documents such as Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Packing Slips, Invoices, etc. Discuss keeps all of our communications up to date. We don't have to waste time asking one another about status since it is presented so well.

Odoo Discuss used to have a direct messaging functionality and inbox is the best thing in Odoo. We can talk to people as well as get emails and notifications directly is very simple and clear to navigate.

Emails and other Notifications can look very similar which can be confusing sometimes for users with more roles. This can get better by changing how it looks by default.

Having a common messaging platform with all the users and having a inbox section in the application itself is quite user-friendly. We don't need a separate email platform for Odoo users.
