The solution is simple and commodity hardware-based, with VM options for situations where one has a VM capability at the edge. They are easy to set up, easy to deploy, and the support is top-notch. It also allows not only for wired but wireless edge monitoring, and if there is an issue/technology in the world today that needs extra diagnostics, it's wifi.
The hardware uses Micro-USB for power input, which can cause issues. NetBeez IS looking at this, and it is only true of the lower end hardware. The Gig-speed Bee does not have this issue.
In any classic environment, where there is a remote office environment of any kind, this is the perfect scenario for using a NetBeez. If you have switches at the edge, put a Bee at the Edge. Now, when you get a problem ticket, you have far more information than you would merely reaching out to look at the switch / router / firewall. This is doubly true with VOIP, and with cloud, where stuff is 'out there'.
Several" I had a Cisco VOIP phone user in a remote office reporting that the network was down. I was able to use the tool to measure every aspect of the WAN link, including MOS, to show that the problem was actually the Cisco FInnesse web server. In another case, a remote printer connected to oracle was causing issues, and I was able to show that the issue was with the printer itself, not the network (although it was also with the way Oracle does not understand remote printers). In previous jobs, the issue with End to End monitoring has always come down to having a knowledgable person on the other end to help diagnose. With the netBeez, the 'helping hand' is already there.
NetBeez allows me to be proactive to user problems and address them as soon as they show up. Additionally, I no longer have to walk users through basic troubleshooting to gather information as I can use a remote Bee to run ping, traceroute, speedtest, etc. NetBeez has become a required tool for me to be able to support multiple remote offices. Additionally, the team at NetBeez is extremely responsive to my feedback and requests for new features and updates.
There is nothing I can think of to list here. :-)
NetBeez addresses both monitoring and troubleshooting for corporate offices. I can troubleshoot problems at all remote offices without needing remote engineers or impacting internal users. Additionally I can have proactive monitoring of internal and external websites/resources from specific buildings, floors or rooms.
We find great value in being able to see network conditions from multiple points within our network, as well as from an off-network perspective. Also of great value is the ability to run service tests from multiple network points.
The network agents themselves need rebooting from time to time to continue to provide accurate test results. The first diagnostic step when investigating an issue that NetBeez reports is to reboot the agent in question, just to be sure the issue is accurately reported.
Being able to correlate reports of network issues with ongoing network agent testing, from multiple network locations, has been an invaluable tool for our small network operations staff. Our time-to-resolution is been greatly improved, and we are able to pinpoint the source of reported issues much faster with the perspective into live network conditions that NetBeez Network Monitoring provides.
With low-cost/low-end agents in branch offices, NetBeez gives information about user experience against corporate and Internet resources. It's very difficult to get this information in any other way, and their dashboard aggregates and unifies the information to help make it easier to do root-cause analysis of problems (is it the network, is it the server, is it the site, etc.).
Product is built for a network of sensors going to a common set of services; it's not really designed to replace WhatsUp/Zabbix/Nagios-Icinga but with such a great dashboard I wish it were. It's a bit of a point solution, even if it's a very important one. In a perfect world, we might be able to integrate NetBeez results with other dashboards (like Zabbix or Nagios-Icinga) to give singe-pane-of-glass network monitoring. But that's not today.
NetBeez gives a very particular answer: how does the network look from the point of view of the user? None of our other monitoring tools really answer this question adequately---they are focused on other types of monitoring. Since system outages are handled in a very different way from "soft" problems like "the application is slow," having NetBeez information available really gives a lot more depth when investigating hard tickets on soft problems.
Netbeez has a easy to use UI that you can set up tests for network monitoring and troubleshooting
Some tests cannot be edited after they are created
We use the email alerts as one of our main ways to determine if there is an issue with a system. We use it to verify that all systems are healthy after an update or upgrade of a system.
Easy of install on 3rd party devices, such as pi's and odroids, Outstanding support, easy of use and graphical representation of the timelines.
More network Kpi's on point to point tests i.e Netflix, youtube streaming video, Adaptive video streaming.
Customer network reported issues. Helps proactively identify issues on the field.
The real-time and historical performance monitoring. Specifically, the throughput, packet loss, and round-trip time reporting.
Having to purchase and install a hardware agent for every site we want monitored. Although, there is talk of soon being able to install agents on some Cisco Catalyst products.
Definitely give NetBeez a chance, to show you what you are missing. The products are great, the support is spot-on, and the company is very committed to providing the best Network Monitoring tool possible.
NetBeez provides me with the ability to proactively monitor sites that are important to me, before I attempt to reach them. With performance monitoring, I also get to see the real-time performance for any/all defined network or host. The packet loss and throughput metrics are incredibly valuable.
Very comprehensive dashboard and relatively simple way to create test suites. Provides "at a glance" overview on how your network is behaving and where pain points might be.
Not much. Some of the tests could be simpler to create but all in all its a good experience
Having little visibility on how my WAN is behaving, in parts where snmp or classic monitoring wouldnt cut it. Especially solving for end-user experience (in this case, an ISP), we deploy probes at both our network access points as well as specific end-users
Best part of NetBeez in our network, is being able to visually see as a whole quickly, how the network is performing. Perfectly color coded NetBeez agents, you will be able to see effortlessly what is up + down with a quick glance.
Recently able to deploy docker NetBeez agents running directly off the switch itself.
Looking forward to get the docker NetBeez agents expanded into the product range they offer.
If looking for an easy to use/setup software, this is definitely the way to go ! Great way for people who know little about networks to quickly identify if core boxes are down in the network. Support staff goes above + beyond expectations to make your transition/troubleshooting seamlessly as possible.
With the NetBeez WiFi agents, we have been able to gather analytics quickly on how SSID's are performing during sustained periods of time. This allowed us to discover root causes what is causing clients to drop from the network.
