Muck Rack has incredible customer service, a robust database of media contacts, the ability to add custom contacts, the ability to upload spreadsheets to integrate with the platform and updates its information frequently to use each day
Muck Rack has been an incredible tool for me and my team. Like any PR database it takes time to update contact information, but Muck Rack is top-notch in the industry of the tools I've used and as it's constantly innovating and adding new features.
Muck Rack is helping my team find media contacts across the globe to help secure media coverage for our clients. We also use its media monitoring tool to find published coverage for our clients and use the reporting feature to help pull data to share the ROI of our coverage. We also use the platform to send media outreach as it helps us personalize within the platform, which is unlike other platforms on the market.
I love the ability to keyword search articles and build custom coverage comparison reports most of all. But it's also extremely helpful to have the full listing of reporters and editors for publications and links to their personal profiles/Twitter accounts. And it's an incredibly user-friendly platform with chat help built-in at every step of the way.
Much like such algorithms in general, automating the coverage reports can get a little tedious when you have clients or people you are representing with either a common name or a commonly misspelled business name, or mis-abbreviated.
I'm saving hours on natively searching Google and other databases to find mentions of my clients. I'm getting real-time notifications when they appear in the news, and lastly, my pitches are more tailored thanks to the journalist profiles and getting better responses.
Muck Rack helps me find the necessary insights for the essential functions of my job as a publicist. Tools like quickly finding contact information for journalists, linking to their social media sites, and showing their most recent stories are important to me. Additionally, finding UVMs, circulations, and additional details about publications are helpful. Muck Rack has also transformed the way I build media lists and pitch writers, cutting the time it would take to perform those functions in half, at least.
My only complaints about Muck Rack include the most recent update to the search function - I liked the search bar at the top with dropdown options better. I also wish that when viewing journalist profiles and reviewing their most recent stories, Muck Rack grouped syndicated stories together so I didn't have to scroll through dozens of the same story.
The main functions Muck Rack serves is for publication and journalist research, media list building and pitching. The way Muck Rack simplifies these functions has made my job easier and has made me able to complete tasks faster.
The extensive database of contacts is updated regularly so I can feel confident that I am finding accurate information as I build my media lists and industry contacts. I also like how easy they make it to complete every step of a pitch, from finding the right contacts to writing and sending personalized pitches, following up and tracking engagement from reporters. Finally, I rely on Muck Rack's reporting capabilities to track our placements and report successes to our organization's leadership. Being able to do all of this in one place is very valuable.
It would be helpful to see a media contact's info (ie. media outlet, job title) in the window where I'm personalizing my pitches so I can make sure I'm including the correct information. When I am working with a large group of contacts, I need to click into each individual profile to see these details which adds some time to the process.
In my role I need to pitch media outlets and contacts across the country, so Muck Rack helps me build and update my media lists. It saves me a lot of time not needing to Google the outlets in different cities and find the best contacts on their websites.
i like how easily i can find almost everyone i search for. pitching through muckrack is a hugeeee help and time saver. i use muckrack multiple times a day. its very easy to understand.
i dont like how sometimes when i have huge pitches going out to like 1500 plus people, muckrack takes a really long time to send them out
my clients ask for analytics a lot so i use muckrack to do this. trends.
Muck Rack is easy to use and provides great information about reporters. What I like most about Muck Rack is how easy it is to send out a personalized pitch along with follow-ups. It saves me so much time and you have an extra bonus of seeing who opened your pitches. I love that feature.
I'd say the thing I dislike the most about Muck Rack is building media lists - and moving between outlet info and reporter info. It feels a little clunky, but it is workable. I have used other media tools and Muck Rack is the best.
Muck Ruck helps me better target and reach journalists that my customers want to reach. It benefits me because my job is getting coverage for my clients.
It is very easy to navigate. I love that you can send and track emails through it.
The only dislike is a lot of contacts are out date.
We can keep better track of who we picth to and who we need to follow up with.
Muck Rack's media contacts database and pitching tools are by far the best I've experienced. I also love how you can track media coverage and research trends.
Sometimes there are outdated contacts. However, I have found that when I alert the team to these errors, they update the contact profiles immediately.
Muck Rack helps me to accurately target the right media with my client pitches. I also find it very helpful to track coverage and find new trends.
While there are many things I enjoy about Muck Rack I must say the easy access and ability to organize pitches to journalists is probably the most useful aspect for me.
The only thing that is occassionally frustrating is when a journalist doesn't have contact information, but I know that can always be a challenge.
They make it MUCH easier for me to pitch our stories to journalists in the tech and pop culture worlds.

As a longtime user of other media databases, Muck Rack is hands down the best! Being able to drill down when searching, having quick access to recent articles, and tweets is impressive. The Muck Rack support team is also fantastic. They are always readily available; it's as simple as chatting with an internal colleague if I have a quick question. Everyone there is super friendly and professional and I HIGHLY recommend this product.
I cannot think of any downside. If you're on the fence, this is worth the investment.
We needed to expand our brand reach, and Muck Rack delivered that capability.
