Home/ New SaaS Software/ Microsoft Dynamics GP/ Reviews
Business management solution
PROS: I have been setting up and using Microsoft Dynamics GP from the first version and there is no doubt that the vendor keeps improving the software with each new version. They listen intently to customer feedback and carry out the recommended changes. This is clearly evident in their latest release.
CONS: You need to use third party apps for a lot of tasks. I think GP should offer more features supported by Microsoft. They should add the top three products used by customers to GP to make it more powerful. Plus, Microsoft products like GP should work with other MS systems. Right now, we have to use workarounds for integration. Another drawback is GP lacks a 64-bit version.
PROS: I appreciate that Microsoft Dynamics GP offers several useful features. These include tracking info availability for products sent to customers and the ability to view when new stock is due to arrive.
CONS: The app lacks a few useful software features. I am not sure if GP doesn’t offer them or if my company is not using them. For example, I would like to include links to picking tickets as well as make use of an area to attach a project folder. I use these two features often and need to switch multiple times between our shared drives and GP. Another issue is organization. Information is buried deep under multiple options and you have to search to find what you need.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
We use GP for product info tracking and integration. We use it to track order status, products shipping status, and products status. Other employees use the app’s accounting features. It is easy to input, search, and find invoicing numbers and order numbers.
Are you a current user of this product?
Yes
PROS: Dynamics GP offers plenty of features for inventory management, financials, and accounting. It is not attractive to look at but is very functional and gets the work done. The app offers multiple options for all features. You can customize it easily with plenty of front end apps that link to the back end database. This gives the system great flexibility.
CONS: I have no major issues to talk about but only wish they had made the design and layout more attractive.
PROS: I love the seamless integrations. Plus, it is easy to upload journal entries, invoices and other files without any difficulty.
CONS: The software can be difficult to use. I understand that it offers robust controls but it is hard to delete an inadvertent entry or to reprint posting journals.
PROS: Microsoft Dynamics is a sold ERP system that has been very useful for our mid-sized company. We started using the app in 2005 and initially there was a small learning curve. We took our time to implement the software to make use of all the features. For me, the best features are the accounting screens which are easy to use and feature-rich, the responsive and helpful customer support, and the hundreds of add-ons that enhance the functionality of the system.
CONS: There are a few drawbacks. A few features are lacking such as the critical intercompany AR (you need to buy a third party module for this). The customer source database is hard to navigate and search. Finally, the GP 2013 web portal is very confusing and complicated.
PROS: I use Microsoft Dynamics GP with Microsoft Forecaster. I appreciate that the system takes real-time data from the General Ledger. This extraction enables accurate forecasts that help our Bookstore and Accounting units to organize their finances. I love that the web-based interface is intuitive and easy to use.
CONS: GP’s reporting feature needs to be improved. Many users have trouble using this feature and you need to invest some time to learn to use it properly. It was confusing for me initially, but now it is ok. Plus, the interface is old-fashioned and difficult to navigate in the beginning.
PROS: I love that it is easy to customize the windows within the user interface. The app offers useful built-in reporting features. I can use the SQL profiler to find out what SQL tables are being used.
CONS: It is difficult to learn the SQL table structure. It is hard to develop in the database environment. Plus, the program does not perform up to expectations as it is a bit sluggish.
PROS: I love that Microsoft Dynamics GP works smoothly with the other systems we use. It is simple to run reports and I can simultaneously generate four reports and compile them with thousands of results in a single spreadsheet in a few minutes. This has boosted my efficiency a great deal.
CONS: The biggest drawback is the software is sluggish and slow to load. Certain tasks take a long time as the software is so slow. On the bright side, there has been some improvement in this area in the past couple of months and I hope the vendor keeps improving the load and software speed.

PROS: I love that Microsoft Dynamics GP is easy to use and integrates smoothly with other Microsoft software like Excel. The app is easily customizable and integrates seamlessly with back office applications. I appreciate that Higher Education customers can enjoy educational discounts that come bundled with this software.
CONS: I feel some of the features look and feel old-fashioned. Overall, the system is well designed and integrates smoothly with back office solutions.
