MemoQ Translator Pro is my go-to for showing students the ropes of localization. It's cool because it shows them the entire translation process, from remembering past translations to handling technical terms. This tool gets students hands-on with every aspect of the job, making learning a total dive-in experience. The best part is the machine translation feature, bringing a techy vibe to the learning journey and helping students grab practical skills that match the latest trends. Thanks to MemoQ Translator Pro, my students really get what localization is all about, making their learning experience both awesome and well-rounded.
Setting up machine translation in memoQ Translator Pro can be a bit tricky, which might be challenging for users who prefer a simpler configuration process.
MemoQ Translator Pro is incredibly valuable for addressing challenges in the realm of localization, providing an effective platform for teaching students about various crucial aspects. It facilitates comprehensive learning on topics like translation memories, term bases, file formats, strings, variables, tags, and URLs. This not only enhances my ability to convey theoretical knowledge but also enables practical, hands-on engagement, ensuring that students gain a well-rounded understanding of localization intricacies. The user-friendly interface and versatile features of MemoQ Translator Pro significantly contribute to a more effective and enriching teaching experience, benefitting both educators and students alike.
It's an easy to use memory based translation tool. The other similar software are way too complicated.
Not good when translating Excel sheets. When exporting the document, you have to copy the text back in the spreadsheet and it takes a long time.
When exporting the document, the layout is pretty similar to the original, but mostly being able to create a memory for each client speeds up translation for the clients because you can keep the same terminology, do research and even copy back translation of the same terms or even sentences.
That it automatically translates most of the content and I only have to review and translate a few things.
sometimes it doesn't take sinonyms or alternative words that are a better fit to the context that the translation will go to.
specially timing, as it can take a while to manually translate a whole document that is filled with a bunch of words and you need to finish it asap.
Being able to block tags, it's quick and reliable.
Not being able to work offline. Not being able to work 2 translators on the same document at the same time.
No.
Avoiding repetitions, decent QA, etc... Makes our life much easier.
MemoQ has tons of features with a lot of programming language support. You can navigate your way through it even with the toughest source files, term-bases and translation memories.
The interface can be quite complicating since it has tons of different features and modes in it. A tutorial or guidance is definitely necessary before getting your hands on this product.
As a freelance translator/localization expert, some companies I work for prefer MemoQ and create their projects on this CAT tool. I can use regular expressions to modify texts, remove or display specific parts of it, making the translation process much faster and more consistent!
MemoQ is unique in every way. The shortlist of features I love most includes the following: TMs, TBs, Concordance, segmentation, connection with the LT, the system of Live Documents. Plus: top-notch technical support provided by the professionally outstanding team of specialists. A most recent example: prompt and efficient assistance from the memoQ team associate named Mária Gergőné Petrusán (memoQ Help Center).
There is nothing "dislikable" about memoQ. It's altogether lovely and user-friendly.
Join live memoQ webinars as frequently as you can. Browse the materials published on YouTube. Read Users' Manuals carefully. Use the Help feature of the memoQ.
Managing my translation projects and, thereby, earning income.
It's one of my favorite CAT tools. As I think it is so flexible and well-organized.
If there is no licence, its so hard to use the features.
I recommend using MemoQ tools. As I think its so easy to use and increase productivty.
Easy to create multi-termbases and TMs all at once.
MemoQ is translator-focused, which means that it contains an enormous amount of well-thought-out and intuitive features that support the information processing tasks a translator faces every day. This supports translation quality and improves productivity, which improves customer satisfaction, which in turn improves your financial performance.
One of the features that sets memoQ apart from its competitors is the LiveDocs feature. It is like a document pool that works like a TM, indicating to you if the text you are translating contains sections or terms from the docs in the pool – and they do not even have to have a translated counterpart. For example, when translating texts that refer to EU regulations, you can chuck in a suitable range of regulations (and their translations) from EUR-Lex and do not even have to align them fully. The LiveDocs will then work as an extra TM, and you can add and delete them at will. This brings massive benefits in terms of terminology, phraseology, and even some matches at times. Try this with the GDPR when translating a privacy policy and see what I mean.
The QA features, which in many CAT tools are a huge timewaster, are slick and sensible in memoQ.
The file import filters are also excellent, especially for Excel. Configuring a machine translation option is also quick and straightforward.
The critically important termbase function is powerful, resulting in fewer false alarms in QA.
To conclude, the best feature of memoQ is that it is based on a genuine understanding of translation as a profession and a livelihood. Whenever I can choose my translation tool freely, I will always opt for MemoQ. I have at times also preferred customers who want me to use MemoQ as opposed to some other tool.
There is nothing I dislike. For newcomers, though, MemoQ's range of features might feel a bit intimidating, but the time invested in learning them will pay huge dividends.
Where I come from, MemoQ the most popular tool among experienced translators for a good reason: it pays itself back very quickly thanks to its powerful features.
Translation of complex and demanding texts in a wide range of formats with high-quality results, profitably.
The support offered by the technical staff is second to none.
Nothing. This software has everything it promises.
All my translations are done with MemoQ, as a lot of my customers have a server license. This works smooth and stable, never any hickups.
