My school uses Mediasite to record our daily lectures, so that if we either skip a class, or need to go back and re-watch the lecture, we are able to do so. From the end of the student, it is easy to use and very organized. However, I can not speak for the IT people who implement the software and make sure that our videos are uploaded correctly.
Sometimes there are technical difficulties and the lectures get lost, but they are able to restore the server to an earlier backup and sometimes they are able to find the lectures that are lost are put them up there.
Now after having a school with this software, I couldn't imaging going to a school that did not record their lectures and put them on Mediasite.
It records lectures so that we can rewatch them. My school has been using the same platform for many years, so if anything happens, like the professor forgets to record the lecture, or class is cancelled due to inclement weather, we are able to go onto mediasite and watch lectures from past years. It is super easy to search using the title of the lecture, or the professor's name, to find past lectures. And the current lectures are neatly organized by class year and course.
Ease of use, management of transmission and video in addition to the possibility of events per ticket
It has a confusing and old-fashioned layout model that makes interaction difficult for some users
I use it for some meetings in which I need an opinion to approve some activities and projects with an effective return.
Allows our instructors to easily create instructional videos and embed them into their online courses. The application is easy to use.
The integration with Brightspace requires a little training on the instructor side of things as sharing or copying over content requires an extra step.
It is solving our need for easy to record instructional videos.
My favorite things about the Mediasite video platform are the split-screen viewers where presentation can be on a 2nd panel (with the ability to select focus) as well as the internal video editor.
Though feature-rich, there aren't built-in easy explanations or entry-level user options. So for wide-scale deployment, there is a fair burden on trainers to upskill users.
Great platform if you have a central media dept that can manage and support it
Mediasite offers a highly customizable solution for video streaming and presenation. Excellent for studio-level projects and works well for user-driven projects.
Easy to use. Faculty can perform lecture capture by themselves with out IT being evolved.
The Mediasite players are hardware and need to be upgraded, seems every year.
Mediasite is easy to use and is a great streaming service. We use it for lecture capture and streaming graduation.
Lecture Capture.
The most functional feature that grabbed me is the e-learning feature in the Mediasite video platform, where the students can actually collaborate and share content in real time with teachers. The chat or comments comes also with different options like polls and question & answer so that teachers can interact easily with the students to keep them attentive.
The UI/UX can be a little better in my opinion. It gets a little difficult to get through different options and settings to get the one that is mostly working for my job. Other popular video conferencing tools in the market are easier to use in terms of accessibility and customization as well.
As a senior developer, I have to train my new joiners and trainees with the work structure and job functionalities. Mediasite video platform is very beneficial as it's very student-forward and keeps my training interactive, fun, and participative.
It's great and easy to use with the step by step guides. Customer service is also very helpful.
The service was a bit pricey for my company's liking.
It makes live streaming and video content management easy.
The user side of mediasite is friendly and easy to use
The management side (editing videos) can sometimes be complicated and take a long time
Allows customers to record their meetings or events and share them with those who could not attend or allow viewing at a later date.
I never experience downtime. I need to also meet the character limit in this post.
It logs you out frequently, the "recommended" videos don't make any sense. Say I watch lecture 3a of one course, it recommends 3b of some other course, or lecture 1.
Just use youtube, make it available to the world.
Another problem is integration into canvas, after every video I need to reload the page and start searching from the start.
