It can be a bit user unfriendly at times. It takes a while to get everything inputted but once its there it is RTG.

Where to start? From the very beginning, our overall experience with Margin Edge has been outstanding. The sales team allowed us to proceed with product evaluation at our own pace, without ever being rushed. The implementation team was extraordinary -- they did most all of the "hard work" and then just trained us on use of the software and relevant features. Oh, and the technology/platform is extraordinary and continues to evolve/improve with the addition of more robust features - it has literally changed our company, and we're just scratching the surface of ME functionality. Finally, and perhaps most important, the ME team is an incredible group of people: smart; easy to work with; responsive; and as dedicated to customer service as they are technological enhancement. Wish I'd found them 3 years before I did!
At some point ME customer support will have to expand beyond "bankers hours" (weekdays 9-5) given significance of weekend restaurant activity. But for now they more than make up for it with their service during the week.
In a matter of days following implementation, Margin Edge increased our accounting and financial reporting efficiencies by a literal order of magnitude; it has also reduced human error associated with prior data-entry activities and enhanced our reporting processes. The software is also sufficiently nimble to accommodate changes in our own systems, like the new online platform we are in the process of launching.
We now run inventories and can identify issues leading to higher food costs. We don't need to worry about over portioning or other loss as the software can help us identify the problems so we can solve them. We have our recipes in and they are compared to our sales to make sure we our costs are hitting our target

It is super easy to set up. Your staff only needs to scan invoices. You will need your recipes for everything you sell.
We know our actual food costs by comparing recipes of products to the purchases of product and sales of menu.
MarginEdge is easy to use and is a great tool for keeping a close eye on all aspects of my business. I look at it every day to track cost of goods, labor cost and the price of products that come in. It's very useful in pinpointing loss. MarginEdge is also a great tool on the bookkeeping and accounting side of things - we have been able to manage additional venues with the same office staff because much of the heavy work has been taken off their plates.
Not much that I don't like. The set up is a lot of work, but ME helped us get up and running. We looked at similar software and all of them had a lot of set up work that had to be done.
Tracking cost of goods, and P&L on an almost daily basis has been a huge help. The invoice upload function allows us to handle more venues with less office staff. Pinpointing loss quickly .
The interface is very user-friendly and integrates seamlessly with several of our POS systems. The customer service is fantastic.
They can be a little picky when it comes to the data uploads - requesting resubmissions when the original submission was clear.
MarginEdge is a wonderful product that delivers on its promises.

This software made our lives so much easier with paperwork and processing tedious things such as invoices and sales entries and inventory tracking, especially when managing and overseeing more than one business. Outstanding reps and customer service. Always helpful and always can fix any problem or add any more features that might be needed.

Tedious paperwork and data entry
I own accounting service that had sworn off doing restaurant work because of the vast amount of paper involved. Most of my time was spent tracking down Sales and COGS info and could never do any real analysis. A couple years ago I discovered Orderly and used that service for a year or so until they eliminated the integration with QuickBooks Online. I went searching and found MarginEdge. It. Changed. Everything.
There are so many great features it's hard to list them all... MarginEdge eliminates so much data entry, tracking down invoices, tracking down item prices, integrates with so many POS systems, integrates with QuickBooks Online and the Bill Pay service is AMAZING!! I also love that after scanning the invoices I can toss the paper, everything is in one place!
Hard to list any dislikes here. The software is so helpful.
My only advise is to get started a soon a possible. The set up take a little time, but once it's set up, it runs itself. You'll be amazed.
Not only does it help me take care of the avalanche of paper I used to have to deal with on a daily basis, but now we can get real Food cost, ingredient pricing alerts, etc. And I can deliver financials fast! My clients think I'm a genius.
At the end of the day, most of the systems in this line are pretty much the same. It really come down to ease of use and service.
Can I use the product effectively and if I can't can I get help to use it.
Margin Edge is really on top of the game here, especially when it comes to service. Usually any issues are resolved within 24 hours.
Sometimes the OCR does not pick up on the super complicated invoices. Especially when it comes to 1 item with multiple colors and sizes but to be fair, I also have problem reading those invoices.
Make sure that you understand your part in setting up the product. If you are not dedicated to write out the recipes or uploading the invoices or do inventory, then it won't work.
Polling daily sales numbers from POS is a great tool and save time on manual entry.
Using inventory to track what button is being push or being typed in to track requests flowing through the bar/kitchen - How many time did James write in "Extra Chicken" over a week of time and why did James continued to do it?
Theoretical to see what was suppose to use and what is being used and use that information to push back to inventory corrections, invoice corrections, recipe corrections, plate build corrections...etc...

I love that I can contact someone directly and MarginEdge is always very efficient to respond and help me out. All the help articles are detailed but still digestible and easy to understand.
I wish there were more features available in the mobile app. Specifically in editing invoices that are Pending approval. It can be a pain to have to locate a computer just to make those quick changes.
MarginEdge has made invoicing and accounting SO much more efficient for me and my team. Being able to show each of our restaurant managers how the low of invoices moves through our departments has connected us all.
