Flexibility of the layers. Ease of which data can be updated.
I haven't learned more of the tools and functions that the software offers. I have only cracked the shell.
It allows me to update our delivery routes
One of the biggest advantages over other mapping solutions is the speed at which I can generate Territories. What took hours in the old days, I can now do in less than an hour. I also appreciate how I can use slaes data to create heat maps that are invaluable when analyzing franchisee's overall effectiveness in their market.
If I had to have a negative, I would say the 200 map limit of the plan I am on. I can use them up pretty fast, and I am always having to delete old maps. I would love the ability to archive maps on my harddrive and re-import them so I am not having to start from scratch.
Generating zip code based territories for franchisees.
Our company utilized map my business to gain a better understanding and overall look at how our business is flourishing in specific areas as compared to areas that may need more focus. It was truly an asset to be able to glance at a map and see this info all at once.
Tutorials were a little difficult to follow or to find exactly what I was looking for.
Business issues we were aiming to focus on with Map My Business was to look at the zip codes which our company services and how areas we flourish in those zip codes. Next, we compare how much we spend in marketing in those areas. This has given us a better idea of what is working and what is not working.
So many features, we use only a fraction of them, but it allows us to carve up territories in the USA with ease.
Just the learning curve of a new piece of online software, but overall it's very intuitive
This software is powerful -- and 10 years ago would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for a company to access. Very happy with what it does, and pleased that they aren't price gouging.
We sell direct mail newsletters to car dealerships and repair shops throughout the USA, and it's important that no household receives the same mailer from two competing businesses. With Map Business Online, we can pin our clients and prospects, then identify zip codes already "purchased" by a dealer so we know which areas/zips we can sell without overlap.
I use Mapbusinessonline primary for ad hoc reports so I constantly load data into the tool. Doing this is extremely easy.
You cannot right click in the tool which is not a big deal but is a negative aspect
I map store lists and look at sales volumes in specific areas.
I like the fact that I can color code certain counties within a state and then apply "pins" of a different color to represent something else within that county.
Haven't discovered anything I do not like yet.
I would definitely recommend this program to others. If I can't figure out how to build something, I call the help line, they either walk you through it or get on your screen to help you out.
Becoming more efficient when making visits to county facilities and not back tracking or missing facilities.
The ability to import any list of data and use in the map. The program gives us complete control of our data and the map views. The learned curve is low and the program is pretty easy to use.
The user interface / look and feel is a little behind other apps with more modern looks. But the ability to customize and import data far outweighs the user interface.
We have territories for our franchise owners. Need to have a visual of the territory and ability to import customer data, sales revenue and censor data into an easy to view map. Our customer data is constantly changing so need to be able to update often.
MBO makes me look like a GIS whiz. I evaluated several mapping software packages back in 2018, and concluded on MBO with no hesitation. I needed to create territories for a new salesforce I was supporting, and was able to do so in no time. Adding zip codes, removing zips from an existing territory - all of which very easy with this tool. I also handle many analytics and my clientele likes viewing where the business is geographically. Heat maps, plotting data points, where does the competition exist, etc. - all of which easily mapped. Yes, I use data visualization tools Tableau and MS Power BI - and still believe that MBO is superior to them. I've renewed my subscription every year since 2018.
In order to become a regularly-used tool within the life sciences space, the company needs to find a way to replicate a salesforce. It is easy enough to group zip codes into 1 territory, but you cannot group multiple territories into a district, region, or area. In life sciences, the hierarch is Area > Region > District > Territory. And, there are also hybrid territories that exist - in which 1 hybrid covers 2 or more territories. It is these additional layers where MBO is weak.
Just completed an analysis in which the client needed to go after Medicare business. With its built-in demographics, I can create the fields to calculate % population that is 65 years or older. Because patient claims data is only available at the 3-digit zip code level, I create the calculations for both 3 and 5-digit zip codes.
Ways to gather data and put into a spreadsheet if needed, the ways you can add/change territories easily by county.
Not being able to easily search/change maps that are more in depth quickly and easily. Difficult to export data and reinport. Labels move around, then.
Helps show territories for salespeople and where they are located.

I wish it had the option for more than 1000 territories. Other than that it's great!
We use it to create territories for our franchise.
