Law Practice Management Software
LexisNexis has been our 'go-to' website when locating clients, opposing parties in domestic cases, and our criminal defense clientele's history. We find this website very useful and enjoy all the tools they have available to us. The CounselLink specifically has made it easier for our firm to develop better integration strategies and data migration. CounselLink has given us ideas as to how to mainstream our strategies and also how to convert the most possible leads into clientele. We enjoy all of the different strageties that we have learned from researching this platform.
At first glance, the website looks bland. I was hopeful that there would be more insight into navigating the page. Also, there were not clear instructions on where things might be located at and at times it took a bit to find what we were looking for. When we first dove into the logistics of the website, it seemed a little overwhelming. When you are going from paperfiling everything in your firm, to use computer generated ideas, templates, and programs; it can see a little overwhelming.
We recommend looking into Lexis Nexis CounselLink, in the very least. They offer informative reviews, blog posts and instructional videos that all team members should look through.
As a firm, we can enhance our integration process with Counsel Link. They make it easy to onboard new attorneys and team members. They laid out what steps we need to complete clearly and concisely, to which we can really focus on the specific steps. Some of the benefits that we have noticed with CounselLink, is the ability to allow our team to train at our own pace. More often than not, teams and law firms try to ensure that their entire employee roster learns at the same pace. Unfortunately, that can not always be completed especially with a wide range of ages for employees. CounselLink helped integrate everyone at their own pace. The team really strives to answer all your questions and to ensure that you understand everything fully.
I like the ease of use and multiple options. It is a user-friendly tool. It is easy to navigate and contains useful options for finding what you need.
I have not found anything I do not like about the product.
Submitting invoices electronically resulting in faster turnaround.
What I like the most with CounselLink is the ease of use of the program. I like how the interface is easy to figure out even if it is your first time using it. I also like the integration of auto submission while using it with the eBillingHub. I also like the email alerts I get when the status of our invoices get through, approved, reduced, or rejected.
What I didlike the most about CounselLink is the different website for certain clients. Sometimes you will have to go to a P2 site or a client specific site in order to access their billings. This is a pain because you will have to have different login names and passwords for each platform. Another thing I do not like is the timekeeper approval process. This might not be a CounselLink problem rather it's a client permission issue, but we do not have a lot of access when trying to upload, revise, and update timekeeper rates.
I highly recommend using CounselLink as a client or as a vendor. As long as both parties have an understanding of the level of access, workflow should be smooth. With or without eBillingHub, I think CounselLink still is a great recommendation when you consider moving to electronic billing.
There's a lot of convenience that we benefit from using CounselLink. It is part of our workflow. As time are changing, the way we bill are changing as well. CounselLink is one of the fully features ebilling platform out there and it's great to use.
ability to store docs in cloud. ability to move docs from email directly.
cost for service is high. The data pulled is sometimes not accurate.
ebilling from external firms as well as document storage for east of transfer.
Site is very easy to navigate. I have used it for many years and this year would be the easiest
When you have to submit different rates for different clients- it’s a bit confusing
I submit invoices for clients on the site
Everything is laid out nicely and there are some shortcuts to make things easier. Tutorials are available as well.
It's confusing at first, especially getting the fee offers set up and approved.
We are using CounselLink to submit our time entries for a client. Rather than receive paper invoices, they want us to submit on CounselLink.
Perfect program to store case notes, handle client billing and overall ease of access with client files.
Site is often slow and takes lots of time between actions.
We transitioned from paper payments to strictly using Counsellink to propel our ACH deposits. Running reports on caseloads.
You can track exact spends for each matter. Data/billing entries are very straightforward, making the process of uploading a bill easy, even if you have many.
Although it is easy to upload a bill, it is time consuming if you manually enter the data. I have not figured out how to upload bills using a LEDES file, even though I hear this makes things a bit easier.
As a user who has a client using CounselLink for their invoice processing, I am pleased with the software. I can upload bills (although time consuming) manually, track their status within our client's accounting department, and figure out when they will be paid based on their internal guidelines. I have used other software (legal tracker) that is quicker and offers the same benefits, but I have nothing bad to say about CounselLink.
CounselLink makes it easy to track where a bill is in our client's process. It is useful in order to see when our invoices will be paid, which is good to know in a small law firm (cash-basis) environment.
The client information is easy to link matters to make them accessible quickly.
Making changes to bills can be difficult because inputting the corrections needed requires a lot of patience and time.
Be prepared that when you begin using the program, it doesn't work exactly like other billing programs and will take some getting used to. Bookmark the help areas because you will use them often to solve issues you may come across. Customer service is also quite helpful and easy to work with.
We use CounselLink to send bills to specific clients. With CounselLink, I can see all bills sent to a particular client quickly along with all bills sent on a particular file.

I like how easy it is to post invoices. It is also really great for getting our invoices submitted quickly, getting them reviewed and getting paid quickly. It is an easy billing platform to use.
I would like it better if we as a lawfirm were able to add our own matters. I do not like having to contact the client everytime we need a new matter set up. It is sometimes problematic to get everything coordinated with the client.
It solves the problem of getting invoices submitted to clients quickly and getting our firm paid on a must faster basis. We have multiple clients that utilize CounselLink for billing so it is easy for us to go to one place for billing multiple clients at once.
