That security and privacy is top priorities in Keybase
The apps can be a bit slow sometimes. Especially when it's encrypting files.
Ad-hoc credential sharing, chat, git, file sharing.
Keybase is not a single app, it is a suite of multiple apps and these apps are very likeable:
Chat application: If you are a slack user and love the of inter company communication, Keybase runs a natively more secure Slack-esq chat app. I like the fact that one does not have a limited search history. The best part about keybase is that is is just like slack, but its free and more secure.
Encrypted Git: Git is a developer's best friend, but trusting a platform like Github does not guarantee privacy and security for the source code, but Keybase's Git helps store code safely.
Groups: Groups can be effectively leveraged to improve intra company communication, Keybase lets you create unlimited groups that let you post code snippets to memes.
Secure file and code storage: If you're a fan of dropbox, Keybase is a more secure version of dropbox without the hefty price tag.
Focus on privacy and security: Keybase is a security first focussed app. It lets even laypeople encrypt their files and sign messages to ensure privacy and integrity.
Support for sending money: This does not let you send money like Indian rupees, United states dollars or the euro, but Keybase lets you send Stella lumens, which is fungible and can be used as money, the icing on the cake is Keybase gives away free stellar lumens to its uses. Yes you read it right, they give users free money, which is a good incentive to use keybase.
The learning curve for non technical users can be a bit too steep. This app can be overwhelming for people that do not understand PGP, encryption or digital signatures.
Keybase is one of kind and if you're sensitve about the budget, just go for it
It helps me store code , store files, chat with colleagues and friends.
I make good use of the Git, and the chat - for chatting to other developers. The file storage is also useful and rather simple to use. Keybase is also cross platform (including mobile).
The lack of UI for the Git history and such can be a little irritating - for example, pull request/view would be great, that being said it can be achieved on the CLI.
The UX can occasionally leave a little to be desired - but realistically it's trying to simplify something rather complicated. It's also trying to achieve a lot of things in one single, free application - whilst remaining appealing to multiple parties.
It's enabled us to use PGP and such easily - which gives us an easy cross platform way of sharing secrets to third parties when needed.
I love that you can't make those fake accounts like other apps such as What's App and TextNow because it requires you to actually prove you are who you say you are.
I like everything about this app. I don't know why it took so long for it to come out.
This app is the best app around when you want to send ecrypted messages to users that can be tied to them and not users that are hiding behind fake email addresses. You will love it.
It allows me to communicate with actualy people and not worry about the
Keybase have and end - to - end encrypted chat option that offers you the best security in you cmmunicatons. Also cryptography and validation are entirely under your controls. Also you are able to share encryppted diretories with other peolple and allows you to access publicy shared directories from verified people.
Sometimes it appear a little difficult to use, but it's because the system differs from other apps and platform of the same kind.
Probably out there you can find apps and software that appears solid and secure, but if you need an high level of security and privacy the best way to obtain it is by using Keybase and its super cool tools.
I use Keybase when I've to share and or talk to clients that needs to have an high level of privacy. Their projects so are safe from others eyes and ears.
Interface and activity control from a graphical interface, control of files and documents to share with work friends within an encrypted network, it does not go through unknown external servers; it is open source.
Installation on Linux systems is tedious for unlisted distributions; compiling the code is not easy.
Encryption of messages and files sent within instant messaging in a workgroup.
I like that another user I am interacting with can utilize some of the features of keybase without immediately creating an account.
It’s still a fairly new program and frequently requires updates or restarts to overcome bugs.
Currently, we are using the encrypted chat and cloud storage components of this program. It is very beneficial as we are still learning the full capabilities of Keybase.
We are able to define whether git repositories are either public or private. One also has the power to access their files as if they are using a local file browser.
A user can revoke one of their devices from any account, and this beats the main essence of being able to revoke as you might get kicked out by the attacker
Keybase is awesome to use and prospective clients shall not be let down when they choose this software
We looked for a collaboration software that could incorporate git repositories
It's encryption and the file storage system - great amount of storage in the free plan.
When adding for example a Twitter account to your profile, the tweet you make to verify that the account is yours has to be permanently there.
Keybase's team features allows us to chat in real time whilst working on files together.
