"Ambient Project Management working with the tools people use."
What do you like best about KATA?

KATA lets people update project status through the work they do automatically in the tools they use: Jira, Figma, Notion, and Slack. Developers, Designers, and Managers tag the work where it's done, and the status changes are tracked in the native tools and management updates are autogenerated with AI. The LEX product for a standard glossary across the team is a great way to help onboard people.

What do you dislike about KATA?

Integration with Gitlab, especially on prem isn't there yet. Team management, especially assigning people is

What problems is KATA solving and how is that benefiting you?

Managing cross-company projects that span multiple teams. Jira is really bad at tracking work across silos, and our other OKR tools are impossible to manage. Tagging tickets with kata:projectName is easy and intuitive and the rest of the statuses flow from that.

"Comprehensive visibility across our engineering teams"
What do you like best about KATA?

Kata is an invaluable tool designed to guarantee visibility across various engineering teams, irrespective of their distinct tools and processes. This consistent, centralized visibility ensures a shared understanding of progress and challenges across the department, facilitating a smoother collaborative experience for all team members involved. Kata helps us stay informed and aligned.

What do you dislike about KATA?

Like the introduction of any new process, the challenges seldom lie in the tools themselves but rather in acclimating the team culture to leverage these tools. The incorporation of Kata was no exception to these typical process improvement challenges. Nevertheless, teams swiftly recognized the value embedded in Kata, which in turn expedited and smoothed the transition of our organizational culture.

What problems is KATA solving and how is that benefiting you?

Kata addresses alignment challenges in our geographically dispersed organization. This tool empowers us to seamlessly update one another asynchronously, laying the groundwork for rich and detailed conversations. Kata fosters a collaborative environment of robust and constructive discussion by facilitating informed and meaningful communication.

"Great project management tool that gives the bigger picture of the project"
What do you like best about KATA?

It focuses on providing the bigger picture of what is going on in the project, where the milestones are, what are the decisions, check-ins, or discussions being had. It's not just another action item tracking project management tools.

What do you dislike about KATA?

Still waiting on a better way to connect action items to milestones. I understand this is in the works.

What problems is KATA solving and how is that benefiting you?

We wanted a place that we can properly track our projects, connect all artifacts to, and integrate our various tools with (Google Drive, Miro, Slack, Jira, etc).

It also helps with stakeholder engagement through comprehensive updates and communication enablement.

"Efficient Project Management"
What do you like best about KATA?

KATA has proven to be an invaluable asset for ensuring projects flow smoothly from inception to delivery. The platform’s intuitive interface allows for effortless navigation, making task assignment and tracking a breeze. The visual aids, like Gantt charts, have particularly enhanced our team's ability to visualize timelines and manage workloads effectively. With KATA's analytics, identifying project bottlenecks and reallocating resources promptly has become significantly more straightforward. It provides a consolidated space where communication and project oversight occur cohesively, thereby simplifying project management and enhancing team collaboration. KATA has undoubtedly become a pivotal tool in steering our projects towards success.

What do you dislike about KATA?

At present, KATA lacks integration with Asana, our primary task management tool, which has introduced some friction in its adoption within our smaller company. Given our longstanding use of Asana and reliance on its features and offerings, migrating away poses tangible challenges. Consequently, we find ourselves navigating between the two platforms to obtain a comprehensive view of our projects, which, while manageable, introduces an additional layer of complexity to our workflow.

What problems is KATA solving and how is that benefiting you?

Having utilized Shopify's Vault tool for several years, KATA strikes me as an enhanced, yet functionally familiar, upgrade. It presents itself as a more robust version of Vault while maintaining an operational familiarity. As someone tasked with managing a team of ICs and presenting to leadership, KATA has been instrumental in give me a wideelens view of all moving parts within our projects.
