Traceability, Collaboration Features, Intuitive User Interface, Requirements Management
Limited Reporting Functionality, Complex Test Management Setup, Document Export Limitations, Limited Third-Party Integrations
Users praise Jama Connect's robust requirements management capabilities, user-friendly interface, and seamless integration with other tools. Its visual representation of requirements and traceability features are seen as strengths. Additionally, its ability to manage complex projects, facilitate collaboration, and enforce compliance receives positive feedback. However, some users mention occasional performance issues, limited customization options, and a learning curve for new users. Overall, Jama Connect is a well-received solution for requirements management, offering a comprehensive set of features and enhancing collaboration and efficiency in product development processes.

Jama Connect is a highly intuitive software solution for Requirement Management (RM) and Requirement Based Engineering (RBE). As such, it is used to manage the complexity of requirements-driven system development. With the tool, it is possible to represent requirements from any number of stakeholders at the hierarchical levels necessary for the project - and, almost more importantly, to link them together. The administrator of the tool is able to tailor the tool to the needs of the projects in an equally intuitive and easy-to-learn way, to reuse content, to control its version, to review and much more. For our team, the introduction of the tool into our toolchain is an early Christmas present that simplifies our work enormously in many aspects of our daily business.
The advantage of Jama Connect is definitely the continuous development of the already well-functioning tool. As such, however, some functions are only introduced and improved iteratively. However, as a system development is not a matter of a few days, we look forward to the introduction of further functions that will make life even easier.
However, our current negative point would like to be mentioned. Reporting by means of a Word template is easy to do. The context-sensitive reporting via Velocity, however, needs more in-depth consideration. The advantage here, however, is that Jama Software offers training for this.
The systems my team develops are highly complex. This stems from a high number of stakeholders, system requirements and extensive documentation and life cycle sustaining requirements, where the overview and impact on individual system elements can easily get lost. In addition to the requirements side, complexity for internal and external stakeholders is indispensable for our team.
Jama Connect helps us maintain complexity and transparency to the extent necessary.
Jama Connect is great in its versatility and exceptional user interface. Versatility in the fact that it enhances processes instead of forcing you into a box. Exceptional user interface that is intuitive to the requirement newbies and robust enough for experienced requirement writers.
Can't really think of a dislike, I think there are opportunities to improve the reporting mechanisms and automation of workflows, but the current product offers enough to get the job done.
It is solving basic requirements management and process for finalization. We are benefiting but having a robust solution that is a one stop shop for product development.
Very intuitive, easy to use, tailored to our needs (Medical Devices), Stable software
Improve FMEA interfaces for medical interfaces/mitgation,
Defining Requirements, Tracing from Customer Requirements to all the way to testing, verification and validation.
Using Jama Connect allows our software development team to have a well-organized and well-written set of requirements. It allows us to more easily maintain a baseline of features in our continuously evolving software.
Jama lacks AI capabilities that will help users speed up requirements documentation, which their competitors now have. I would love to see how they will be able to apply AI in the tool.
- Requirements documentation and re-use
- Requirements review and approval
- Sharing requirements to various stakeholders
- Maintaining a baseline of software features
UI/GUI, reusability, tracability, connections to other tools.
Need improvement in connecting to Cameo Systems Modeler
Jama gives the team:
• Access to approved requirements and details in Agility for Epic and Story Refinement.
• Ensures coverage and traceability while developing so every requirement has a story(ies) that satisfy it
• Requirements reusability to voids unnecessary scope-creep by identifying any stories that can’t be directly related to approved requirements
Able to connect to Agility Agile Scrum software.
Requirements Traceability
• View and Report:
Req > Upstream Source Requirements/Needs
Req > Derived Requirements/Related Requirements
Req > Allocated Sub-systems
Req > Development Epics/Stories
Req > Documentation/Standards
Track what Development Stories satisfy what Requirements
See orphaned Requirements
Visibility of Stories not tied to a Requirement
I've found Jama to be a great platform for managing my project requirements. It has a simple user interface but also allows for a lot of customization for my own company's needs. I work in the medical device industry and find this software essential for tracking our internal requirements as well as external regulatory requirements.
No big complaints. I think a bit more sample content and examples of good projects would have helped me more at the beginning so that i could more easily set up Jama before i got too far into using it.
Jama connect helps our business manage complex and numerous requirements. We also use it for risk management and automatic generation of documents we need for regulatory compliance.
What I like best about Jama is the traceability between different types of requirements/use cases and test cases.
I don't necessarily dislike anything but I think I could learn more about how to use the tool effectively.
Requirements traceability and test plan creation.
Automated Trace Matrix Generation is awesome. Prior to Jama, updating the trace matrix required working across 5+ different documents; now it's just a few button presses.
It's pretty expensive. It took a little while to convince upper management that this was worth it; especially compared to cheaper (free) alternatives.
There are also some seemingly unnecessary limitations on which itemTypes can have which attributes; why can I not rev-control a simple document?
Jama Connect is helping me solve the traceability matrix and the reliability & accuracy of the matrix. It simplified test time and will streamline report generation.
Ease of use. On the day-to-day use of users and also the 'new' upgrade system is far more easier to do than before. I hope our clients think about moving to cloud based setup and all the hassle of updates would be gone.
Some of the control is gone. On the other hand I like that I don't have to think everything on setup but on the other, I'd like to know for example are the network ports given in the manual only ones that are needed. It seems Docker setup has a lot of more listening ports than documented.
The product is good and easy to use. Reporting side could use a little tinkering but can be done with a little bit of expertise.
I currently run admin on client setup. I like that our uses are finding the product easy to use and mostly intuitive from the start. After we setup rules and can now enforce them, there hasn't been any issue or escalated queries. Client is using Jama to run their massive testing and are expanding the requirements management slowly in the mix.

1) Timeouts for Login even though I'm on the Same Computer (JIRA stays logged in all the time).
2) I would also like to have more flexibility to create my own export templates (pull just specific Relationship types in exports so that I don't have to have all Parents / Children in export templates).
3) Include a development environment so that we can trial changes to workflows/structures before having to modify the live environment.
JAMA serves as a single location for requirements.
This allows us to find them and not have to look for them in network folders or Teams sites.
The Automated reports generation save a ton of time for my team where we don't have to hand format / create verification summary reports any longer.
We can just generate an export and do some small reformatting and it's good to go.
