Itslearning was chosen for our district because of their commitment to supporting Universal Design for Learning. The platform allows teachers to design a learning environment that that is focused on student choice and voice. Students are able to learn through multiple means of representation, show what they know through multiple means of action and expression while being engaging. This includes text, video, audio, images, and embedding.
The platform also allows our corporation to have all of our resources in one area. This can be completed through single-sign-on through LTI or through a very diverse shared library. We have over 2 million elements in our library now.
Itslearning's service is also easy to work with and very responsive. They check in often, work with our specific district's needs, and have given us a voice in the development of the platform.
The itslearning gradebook is still a work in progress. It is not the main gradebook we use as a district, but it is difficult to make changes to grades on an individual student need. They are in the process of developing a new gradebook and we have been pleased with the pilot versions so far.
Itslearning is a worldwide platform dedicated to K-12 education. They are constantly improving the platform.
Before we had itslearning, we had over 5 learning management systems in use. Itslearning has unified our district K-12 as well as all of our professional development and staffing requirements. Everyone in our district has an account and knows that it is the information hub.
All of our content is now available 24/7 for all of our students and teachers. This has allowed us to extend learning past the traditional school hours, allowed students to stay up to date if they have to miss school, and allows us to have eLearning days.
I like the multiple features and the different views you are able to utilize. I like the customized features
It sometimes crashes after too many users
This makes data collection, grading and communication very seamless
Itslearning provides a great layout to access your courses, message teachers, participate in group discussions with the discussion posts, and much more.
From my location, itslearning can sometimes be really slow. I think it is because the nearest server for us is congested or does not have enough bandwidth. If this was resolved, it would be great.
I am able to easily manage and chat with my classmates, teachers, and with the school via the course management.
Finally! I have been in education for over 20 years, I am so thankful to finally have a system that connects me to students in a way that helps us all learn and grow together. I really enjoy messaging the students and having a platform for them to message me their questions, concerns, and comments as well. I can share learning materials with them and assess them on itslearning as well. Having access to learning materials is a huge obstacle that itslearning helps us to overcome, so thank you from a classroom teacher who benefits from using itslearning every day.
I dislike when we have snow days from school instead of e-learning days because itslearning makes elearning days a snap!
We are breaking down barriers of access and communication by using itslearning. I have realized that students having access to materials online gives them the choice of access that they desire. As far as communication, itslearning messaging system allows teachers to receive student feedback in real-time and since the messages can be a group or private, we can be sensitive and culturally aware in our communications.
The messaging feature is a great way for my high school students to address concerns or ask questions and then receive answers from the teacher. Download the itsLearning app and allow notifications in your phone settings. This way my students can have access to instructional material but I do not have to share my personal contact information.
I don’t care for the way that all my class info hav to be accessed through the “resources” tab. I liked having a home page for students to land on. I still have that but I had to create it under the resources tab and then fix the settings for the way students view it.
I am reducing the amount of paper used since students can submit assignments digitally.
Everything is centrally located! Having students turn in assignments, projects, & tests/quizzes digitally makes grading so much faster!
Requires students to have internet access
Everything (textbook chapters, daily plans, documents, worksheets, videos, test/quizzes, activities, polls, surveys, games!) can be uploaded, accessed, &/or completed AND turned in through itslearning. Students can take control of their learning. They don't need to ask me "What did we do yesterday?" because they know they can find it on our course page. They don't have to ask me "for a copy of that one worksheet we did" because they can find copies on our resource page, download them, type right into them, and upload them back to me!
Students feel empowered and encouraged about their learning. I spend less time tracking down papers to get absent students caught up.
itsLearning provides a platform for many types of resources/courses, as well as an infrastructure that allows for connectivity to other programs such as Google Drive and Google Classroom. The program gives teachers a lot of flexibility of the types of resources provided for students, as well as, the ability to create resources within the platform. Overall, the intent of the platform is fantastic and useful.
The itsLearning platform is not intuitive to parents. As an educator, I understand where things are, as well as how to get to them. Our parents frequently struggle to understand where resources are located. The parent login view is very different from the student login view, and I think they should look almost identical. Parents can't see what the student sees unless they use their student's login.
It's a great platform to provide a lot of resources in one place. It provides parents, students, and teachers for one common place to look when needed. The platform could be more intuitive for parents, but it's fairly user-friendly for teachers and students.
Access to online resources are so much easier when using itsLearning. When you have multiple courses it is easy to separate information per subject. It's also helpful to be able to distribute resources to students that you can organize effectively.
I like that students and teachers have one place to go for all their courses electronically. It's nice to be able to access all relevant paperwork in one place. It does not have a lot of filler graphics that might hide relevant content from the user.
Sometimes they update and the new set up changes how comfortable you wete effectively using it. Homepages changed dramatically a few updates ago and we are still trying to get our views back to normal. The tree to find stuff can become quite cumbersome.
It allows all teachers and students to access their classes and courses in one place. All sign ins, books, brain plans, lessons, activities, etcn are in one place. It is great for content that needs to be shared within our school.
I like that the vendor's representatives work well to ensure that the system works well with other programs so our students can have single sign-on access to a variety of resources.
I do not like not having a spell check feature in the system. I write curriculum and it's a pain have to copy and paste into a word document to spell check.
Be sure to have a list of features you access to.
Think about the online environment you trying to create.
Think about the programs you currently use and how it can best sync with its learning.
Its leaning is helping us created blended learning environments so teachers can maximize instructional time. It is helping us reach students with attendance issues and keeping them from falling behing.

A few of my favorite things are online tests, Google Integration, and assignments. With online tests, it cuts down on my grading time and my students like immediate feedback. Google integration has made it easy for students to complete a Google assignment and it organizes it in a Google folder in my drive rather than students having to share all of their copies with me. I also like that I can add anything on Itslearning and my class has immediate access. It makes learning much more efficient. With assignments, I like that I can give quick feedback verbally or written out. Anther thing that I really like is being able to hyperlink everything in the tree because we are currently on week 23 and we have a folder for each week, a folder for each day inside of that, and a page for each class inside of that, which is all neatly linked on the homepage for them.
I dislike that Testing mode does not work on our school Chromebooks, so there is a worry of students opening other tabs and cheating during tests. I also dislike that when making copies of a folder to use for a different week, I have to go in and individually "create own copy" of the pages. I wish that there was an option for automatically creating separate copies when making the copy of the entire folder. This takes a lot of time when copying an entire week's worth of class pages over.
I think it is a fantastic tool for school districts or organizations to use. I also know that we use it to house materials for teachers such as district documents, training videos, etc. that can be accessed when it is convenient. This has made things more accessible for all.
I have had Skype sessions with Itlsearning and a couple of my students to see possible changes to the newest platform. My students shared that they liked the landing page with boxes of each course rather than having to search for it in the courses dropdown arrow. I love that Itslearning works with BCSC, my school district to make changes that will benefit our users. The Google integration and new home page for students evolved from these conversations in the past. Students really enjoy getting to have those meetings.
