"Real time and endpoints management solutions."
What do you like best about InsightOps?

I like the speed at which this software provides a feedback on real time and searches are fast and requests are real time.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

Sometimes it takes long to get a feedback on real time query when you ask too many questions. However this might not be a problem since I hope for future upgrades.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have been using this great tool in detect malicious activities and detect the endpoint. We can now get feedback to real time questions we ask. It has helped us know when the system are down and if working properly.

"Fantastic solution for log file centralized hosting"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

The simplicity of the solution for having all of your logs in one place is hard to compete with. They also have amazing search and indexing features and the alerting is amazing. They are far and away the best of breed in the log hosting space as a service. Their support has also proven to be proactive, often reaching out to discuss the latest changes and helping us implement some of the newer features.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

Occasionally the logs can be a little slow in appearing, however this is fairly rare. User management is a little basic. Searching requires a small learning curve, as you need to learn the format of queries that need to be submitted, you can't simply enter a string and move forward.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

This product is very easy to recommend; their support is very responsive and they have a reasonable trial period, cost is very reasonable given the quality of the product.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Centralizing the logs has obvious benefits - all of the log files for everything in your server farm are available in the one place - but the cost benefits and security enhancements they bring to the table make it as easy decision, when compared to doing something like rolling an ELK stack or using one of the competitors.

"Great aggregate logging"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

I like that I can create charts from my logs, it gives me a quick way to get metrics based on application events without having to set up metrics.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

Their query interface is cumbersome at times. Difficult to enter search queries, pick groups, and set dates.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

It's great if you also want to use it for basic metrics and event aggregation

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Logentries helps me respond immediately to users upon errors and fix issues quickly. It's also the primary source of metrics as well as logging.

"Logentries is a must to not get lost in logging"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

Logentries is a great way to quickly find and analyse anything in your logs. With a growing business, our logs are just too big to search using basic tools. Logentries allows us to quickly find errors, analyse trends using grouping and many aggregation functions. It is often our go-to tool to identify the source of issues in our production environment.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

Query results using more complicated grouping are often bad. We've seen from time to time a simple count would return wrong values on longer timeframes.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

Make sure you group all your applications under the same account. Use IDs shared among applications as much as possible to get cross applications logs easily.

Don't hesitate to graph using the aggregation functions. Really great tool to see evolution of a metric over time.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Debugging problems in production. Searching through logs of multiple applications at the same time is not an easy task without a tool like Logentries.

"easy and good for log searching of the server in single place"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

Logentries is to use, it hava a good UI/UX and we can find all server log on one place.

It provide regx to find various kind of string in logs. Scale on demad featrue provide when we have havey traffic on our app so we can grap all the data log in one place and after some time it can be switch to AWS S3.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

It can be make faster to search the input string.

Price is to high when we want to scale or if we have large amout of data log then logentries plans are costly.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Storing all server log in single place and finding information, logs of the server is very easy with good UI/UX.

"Great logging tool for ops and devs"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

Very easy integration for both ops and devs. I personally used LogEntries with NodeJS. The installation with NPM was really easy.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

I've experienced some delays before getting my first logs. It seems to be the case with NodeJs, but my coworkers didn't get that issue.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Logentries allows me to collect logs easily and analyse them for production matters. That's a huge step since logs saved in files.

"Simple and Well Priced Log Management"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

Logentries hits the perfect sweet-spot for us in terms of functionality, pricing, support, and management. Its app is intuitive and its query language (LEQL) is powerful, yet easy to use for simple cases.

Some great features they have are the inactivity alerts and anomaly alerts. Anomaly alerts are great, especially for cases like "Alert me when the number of HTTP 404 errors goes up by 50% relative to my total traffic"

Their support is quick and knowledgable. I've personally filed over 15 support tickets and they have always promptly answered.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

I wish Logentries had a more fully featured API for creating alerts and tags. They've told me this is in the works, but it has been over 6 months.

Queries over longer periods of time can seem to never resolve and time out especially if there are a lot of entries.

Their application lacks advanced administrative features such as restricting specific users to specific streams, or even having defined roles for users. For a smaller organization, this is fine, but can be a blocker for larger teams.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

Take a look at other vendors and see what meets your exact needs, but Logentries provides a good balance of price and features.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

We really needed something that:

* Could aggregate streams from multiple VMs

* Wasn't prohibitively expensive

* Had inactivity alerting

* Had an API to program against

Our developers enjoy using the web UI for querying and we strongly rely on their alerts for anomaly and inactivity reporting.

"Easy logging solution (especially if you're using Heroku)"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

We're using Logentries with Heroku, and setting it up was basically one-click, and it had pretty much everything I was looking for - live tailing of logs, quick search, and a dashboard which displays all the important counts in a clean fashion. It also parses JSON strings automatically, and makes it possible to query using values within - which is pretty slick, and is useful when tracing events through the log.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

Nothing much, to be honest. We're still on their free plan because the basics are covered, but there are a lot of things are locked out. Totally understandable. We'll be upgrading when statistics become more important.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

Just try it out. The free trial covers most of the basics, and it's a cinch to set up (especially if you're using Heroku).

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Visibility into trends. We have a separate tool to monitor issues (also monitors the logs), but Logentries makes it easy to notice patterns of changes - basically what any good log analysis tool should do.

"Powerful but complicated"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

Logentries' best feature is probably the powerful set of alert conditions you are able to specify. We've used Logentries with Heroku and (unlike some other services), we found we were able to set alerts that dove deeper into the actual significance of specific log lines – for example, one default alert they have set is based on the service time reported by Heroku's router, and involves parsing that value out of the router log lines. This is powerful (and useful), and not something that every service has.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

I've found the Logentries UI confusing, despite repeated attempts to get a handle on how everything is working. I've heard the same thing from colleagues. Further to this, their UI is un-usably cramped and cut off on a 13" display which seems a bit insane. Menu items extend offscreen and become unclickable without diving into the DOM – clearly no testing was done on smaller displays. Add to this the fact that a further portion of the display is often obscured by a big intrusive "SCHEDULE A LIVE DEMO!" popup, and it makes for a frustrating experience.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

I've found Logentries powerful but confusing, and I've heard similar things from others. I would spend some time really evaluating whether you find the software easy to use and to understand before you make the plunge. Further, I'd probably warn against it if you're working on a display 13" or smaller – it's clearly not designed for that.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used Logentries to specify alerts based on specific events in our web-application logs. Logentries was valuable for keeping an eye on things like server response times.

"Powerful centralised logs"
What do you like best about InsightOps?

It is a really comprehensive logging tool, which offers a relatively painless (relatively....) way to manage log files from multiple server instances. Once you get used to it the interface is manageable and it definitely can handle very large quantities of data if you can afford to do so.

What do you dislike about InsightOps?

The small print - things like that they can charge you double rate on overages and upgrade your plan at their discretion if you go over. This should be factored into your cost analysis. My experience is this can happen so not to be ignored. Still great if you can afford it so don't be put off, just be aware.

Also quite hard to actually find data in it when something urgent happens, but perhaps with more than the year I've had of useage this would become much easier.

Recommendations to others considering InsightOps:

Have a defined business requirement, and during trial period run a full test so you know what your real production usage will be - you may be surprised how much data you can/will store. Without knowing that you don't know how much this will really cost.

When in play, be sure to switch off any logging you don't need.

What problems is InsightOps solving and how is that benefiting you?

Managing a array of global cloud instances, allowing log monitoring of various logs in one place for various servers.
