What I appreciate most about IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage is its seamless integration with my Synology NAS, ensuring efficient and reliable backups. The initial long backup times for large data volumes were a drawback, although recent improvements have mitigated this issue.

IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage effectively address the limitations of previous backup solutions. It provides a dedicated backup solution, solving the challenge of continuous sync and user-unfriendly backup of network drives. The ability to schedule storage server backups and pause jobs during high network load caters to my preferences, offering a tailored backup experience. I have used a few other "leading" cloud backup services... most of them force you into their way of backing up, either by function, object for some random use case..... What i love most about iCloud is that YOU decide how, what and how often you want to backup your data.... i recently damaged my primary notebook with 8TB of data on it... so I needed to backup a lot of data, selectively and very quickly.... iCloud was the easiest of the bunch. I downloaded a local app to speed things up, and in minutes i had my boot sectors and critical client data backed up..... to test, I immediately restored this data on a new machine.... again, made very simple by the downloadable client app.... Thanks iDrive!

The thing I have just experienced is how other systems force you in to backing up your data by object, service, data type or business use case...... many of these back up key standard data directories, but not boot sectors or system files that will prove to be key in restoreing and using the data on your new or updated device.... iDrive lets ME choose how , when and what i backup....

iDrive's consumer friendly pricing model is much better than my previous cloud backup option. Whereas I was paying for separate subscriptions to backup each machine I consider in need of backing up, iDrive allows me to install the client and simply add a machine to my account on the shared storage plan. The 5TB will likely be enough for me for the machines I plan to use this for, but even if I need more space I would not hesitate to opt for a higher plan. The initial backup of about 1.4TB of files from my primary machine took about 4-5 days (honestly did not even pay attention to the estimated time as some have pointed out as it never budged from 23:xx hours) and just left my machine on as the backup finished.

I have not gotten lost in the app interface and anytime I had a question they extremely helpful support documentation was there to guide me to where I needed to be. It might not be as intuitive as other apps as some have pointed out, but it is not the worst I've seen.

Perhaps I am a bit overly cautious with my digital assets (personal), but even with a physical external drive that I do daily backups to from my primary PC, I know there are MTBFs for those so having my files backed up to the cloud adds to my peace of mind for storing my data.

Some of the best features of IDrive is that it has an app on your phone and desktop to automatically sync. It is really easy to toggle what components of your phone and computer that IDrive will backup. I am a graphic designer and it is great to be able to keep everything organized and able to open the things I created on my phone.

The downside is it isn't unlimited storage and it is difficult to multiselect files on the phone to upload. I have to do it 1 at a time.

This is solving my sync between computer and phone. When I am designing on my computer and then go to show my clients or want to share my work, I can pull it up quickly.

There are a lot of things I like about IDrive but three stand out. Ease of setup, ease of use, and integration. However, there are other aspects that are equally valuable. It has a lot of features I like.

I use Windows 11 and do 3d Animation and Visualization. I have 30TB of data that I routinely backup from my 20+ years in the industry. I recently lost a valuable 1TB external drive with data that was unrecoverable costing me a lot of time to rebuild what I could but 99% is gone forever. Until then I had been backing up to 4TB external drives. But I hadn't backed up that drive yet. My worry is that even as they are replaced each year, they can go down leaving me stranded and possibly in trouble with a client's project.

I had some unpleasant experiences with online backup software a few years ago and decided it wasn't the solution for me but the recent drive loss had me searching the Web, reading a lot of reviews and trying a few IDrive competitors. I almost chose a different solution but came back to IDrive. Speed was a prime consideration and I read a lot of reviews that said it was fast. I found it faster than what I had read about. The first uploads take time, but I uploaded my first 6TB in just a few days.

Now that things are uploaded, subsequent uploads of new data only take minutes or hours at the most and run in the middle of the night. But, even during the several days of initial upload, it ran in the background while I worked, and I noticed no interference.

Finally, I found the pricing very attractive for the space I needed. There were vendors with unlimited storage, but there were downsides to their offerings that outweighed their unlimited storage that made them poor alternatives for me. I haven't used Customer Support yet because it was so easy to implement that I haven't needed any. So, I can't speak to that.

Going with an Online backup and specifically IDrive was the best decision I've made in a while. The peace of mind I have now is hard to express.

I really haven't found any downside. Sure, if I need to restore an entire huge drive, speed of download would be a problem, but I can get a hard drive delivered. That takes time as well. But it's not IDrive's fault that the speeds over the Web are what they are and are tied to your service provider's speed. But I know that waiting 3-4 days for a large data drive is much faster than recreating 4TB of data.

So, in effect, I can't think of a dislike or downside.

It's a storage that can't be lost due to hardware failure. I still backup on large external drives, but IDrive is my redundant backup now.

I found IDrive to be very user friendly, totally understandable for this 67 year-old. I've had other backup solutions in the past. In one case with a well known and pricey alternative, I actually had need to use it...and it did not work! I lost a lot of data and it took weeks to recover. I like the fact that you can make a backup of your complete computer, including OS and programs, and save to a local external (or otherwise) drive. I back up data to the cloud account weekly and so far, no issues at all. And lastly, I feel IDrive is a good value at a fair price. One could not ask for more!

To date I honestly can't find fault with any aspects of IDrive online backup or storage. I'm not saying I won't discover some glitch but I'm not really expecting it. I'm confident that if something does go wrong, the IDrive team will help guide me to a solution and fix whatever problem arisese.

It puts my mind at ease in case of a catostrophic data loss or computer breakdown. hdd crash or any other situation that occurs in which I'll need to recover data. I like the cloud storage which gives me access to my data from anywhere.
