PROS: I am highly impressed with IdeaScale. The website is easy to design, the app is simple to use, and new members can join quickly. The vendor’s customer and IT support teams are top notch and the agents provide friendly and helpful assistance at all times of the day and night. Our support reps became our partners and helped us implement and use the CRM software successfully. Plus, the vendor keeps upgrading the product to continuously improve the user experience. I highly recommend IdeaScale to prospective users.
CONS: My peeve is not with IdeaScale but with government security regulations which are stringent and make it difficult to implement a solution like IdeaScale in government administration.
Its easy to customize to fit the requirements of the organization. Ideascale constantly improves and introduces new features often based on customer input and insights. The Ideascale organization are extremely helpful and eager to crack potential problems and complex cases.
I have worked with Ideascale for 6 years
The follow up opportunites, reporting and analysis could be improved
Using Ideascale in a global organization we have been able to take out complexity, work more efficient with idea generation and share great ideas and improvements across - both incremental and disruptive ideas
IdeaScale has continued to add functionality to make it easier to customize the innovation workflow to suite our business needs. They are always available to share guidance on best practices and offer assistance on troubleshooting.
I would appreciate better reporting mechanisms. It would also be nice to have the ability to set metrics with goals and have the system track and report on those automatically.
Ideascale has been a great tool for my company because it is customizable to fit our diverse use cases, their support is excellent and they truly do care about you being successful.
We are solving the problem of having multiple dissonant mediums of sharing and discussing ideas. Organizing innovation in one location has allowed us to achieve greater visibility, future reference about decisions made and a way to organize innovation workflow.
IdeaScale makes it incredibly simple to get feedback from your community and stakeholders. Once you have your question(s) in place and an engaged team to thoughtfully evaluate the submissions, you have all of the makings of an impactful change in your organization.
It's sometimes hard to find the balance between public vs. anonymous interaction with the tool. This speaks to your own internal communication plan and prioritization (and it's not a knock on IdeaScale in any way), but it's something to think about ahead of time.
To name a few: employee engagement, diversity/equity/belonging, process improvements, innovations and opportunities, policy development/enhancement. We've been able to make tangible progress in all of these domains, but the energy from the community in realizing how they have contributed to moving the needle has been the biggest benefit.
While the software gives your innovation program great flexibility, the Innovation Architects are the best aspect of the solution. The on-line support staff via chat are great. I usually ask for help and get the answers within a few minutes. I usually find the IdeaScale community members and administrators all want to help each other. I especially find it helpful that they work in governments.
I think it would be helpful to have more assistance on starting up innovation programs. I would love to have an IdeaScale virtual user groups by region. The solution should be integrated with a project management platform so that once the item is funded you can track each project.
Prepare on how to go from the innovation funnel to the actual project management during build out of the innovation. I would also have a collaboration platform ready to share documents and meetings with the innovation team.
My biggest problem with IdeaScale is getting reporting on the innovation program. I would like to have better integration with Power BI or another dash-boarding tool. LAWA has a robust innovation tool that tracks innovation for all of prototypes. LAWA was named the most innovative airport in the USA, in part through the use of IdeaScale. IdeaScale has allowed LAWA to make
Easy to use, crowd engaging, empowering and amidst the Covid-19 crisis we are leveraging the tool to do more than just refine business needs, but to explore how to make innovative changes in a time of immediate need!
In terms of Ideascale as an organization, one of the best around- The desire and willingness of their team members to help you make the tool the best it can be is remarkable. I value feeling more than just a subscriber of Ideascale, but like a extension of their organisational family where it feels like there are commonly goals and voices.
I would not say dislike, more of a wish list- which includes additional reporting features, but the best part is if you want to invest internal resources the sky is the limit! Love the partnership you get with Ideascale to continue to develop needs and ideas into the core program functionality.
Awesome!
Problem resolution and idea engagement from our employees - We are continuing to explore the many values and features of the tool- look to solve problems our members have with their voice, not just internally. in the near future.
It's easy to acquire, install and use. It's a highly reliable and scalable platform idea generation and management. Customer support is high quality. The user community is vibrant and shares ideas on how to use and improve the platform. Our students, faculty, and staff find it to be a very valuable tool.
The lack of a few useful enhancements, for example, the ability to clear leaderboards or have leaderboards by campaign but, overall, I dislike very little.
Ensure that due diligence is done with others in your industry that currently using the system effectively. Plan your rollout with your functional and technical teams carefully. Build communication and marketing plan and execute them well. Build effective, scalable, and sustainable models for reviewing and managing ideas and implementing those that make sense. Have consolidated campaigns. We had too many open ended campaigns on a myriad of topics and we worked recently to consolidate them. Follow up with idea generators on a regular basis. Determine how to report on ideas generated and their current status and report regularly to campus stakeholders (e.g. student government) and your organization's executive leadership.
We use IdeaScale to allow students (most especially), faculty, and staff to suggest, comment on and vote on ideas on how to improve all aspects of University life. We use the platform to allow technology professionals to suggest, comment, and vote on ideas for improving technology at the University, for improving the IT organization, and for suggesting charitable and service organizations that we should partner with during our annual Week of Service.
IS provides a platform so that every stakeholder is involved early on to make sure the idea is well on track from its inception.
Nothing special. As far as I am a using, which is relatively short, I still did not encounter something I dislike.
If you want to to account for each and every idea in your organization, optimize the time cycle, and get everyone involved in early stages, go for IdeaScale
Streamline ideas and optimize the idea lifecycle. Properly manage time and resources, and account for each idea.
I love how easy it is to use IdeaScale. The process is intuitive and user friendly.
Nothing - IdeaScale is easy to use which has increased adoption rates.
We needed a user friendly way to collect ideas to improve the experience for our members (customers) and a solution that would allow us to easily communicate to the submitter where their idea was in the process from submission to implementation. We used another solution but it wasn't user friendly so adoption numbers lagged. When we implemented Ideascale, we saw our adoption rates go through the roof.
