We like IconCMO because it is cloud-based and very accessible. Help Files, blogs and Customer Service all are provided as good resources for the best practices for managing a church member database.
One must get used to the application's architecture and how to drill into the areas desired.
Communication and Contribution tracking
It is very user-friendly and easy to navigate.
I haven't found anything I don't like at this time.
We needed a software that would manage the finances of the church including payroll and this software does that!!
IconCMO was easy to set up, used double-entry accounting system and was the best product that had I found for the price in 2013 when we planted a new congregation in Fulshear. After using Quickbooks and Excel spreadsheets at another church, I found IconCMO much easier to use. Recording contributions was easy and the year end statements were a breeze. The product is continually updated with new features and functionality and pricing remains very reasonable. The payroll option and the ability to import contributions from Vanco was a timesaving feature that I wish we had used earlier.
After using IconCMO for so many years, sometimes the enhancements and additional features take time for me to learn how to use and make me a little less productive for a short period of time.
Payroll, contribution recording and reporting, financial statements for the banks and accounting firms we use to audit our statements. We needed an accounting package that was better suited to churches and non-profits and IconCMO fit the bill.
ICON is by far superior to any fund accounting/donation tracking system out there. The accounting segment is incredibly robust and allows full operational control, unlike other accounting software that looks flashy but processes transactions that are difficult to undo or manipulate in a way that makes sense. The integration between donation tracking and accounting is also a wonderful feature for those who are used to tracking donations with one software and having to input the accounting in another. While it might take a little while to be comfortable with the level of control the user can execute, they will eventually realize the freedom they've been given and love it as much as I do! I also really appreciate their customer service both via email and phone. They are very good at responding to questions and concerns as well as customer feedback on module upgrades.
There is very little I dislike about ICON. If anything, I would say that there are a few features that are still being refined and upgraded, but ICON is committed to customer feedback and the constant improvement of its product. I have been a customer for 10 years now and have seen this at work. They are working hard to set the standard as the premier fund accounting program.
Our non-profit has both ministry and missionary operations. The fund accounting with donation tracking allows us to operate efficiently while allowing us to produce reports and information on demand.
The website is well designed and functions well for fund accounting, payroll, contributions, and people management. Tech Support is superb.
Nothing! I have used their web-based services for 17 years in three different churches. They have always addressed well any concerns I had.
They have helped me address some complex payroll issues and have helped me train new employees in the use of their application.

Every question I have about using the system. I am new to Icon and not yet familiar with all the great functionality of the system. The more I learn, the more I realize what a dynamic and comprehensive the system is.
The IconCMO accounting team is professional and has been very helpful to our organization. We outsource a portion of our bookkeeping to their team. They are knowledgeable, prompt in their responses, and kind and helpful in their interactions. They have helped us resolve multiple issues, are prompt and thorough in reconciling our monthly books and providing reports, and are always available to explain how to do something new in Icon when I have a question about the system or encounter a new situation.
It has been a little difficult to make sure that everyone on our team knows how to use the system. While the accounting team is very helpful in their support, and Icon provides written support resources, for our volunteers who don't have time to learn the system or ask for help, it can be challenging to make sure everyone is on the same page.
IconCMO is working to make their systems more efficient. For example, their new Donations module (replacing Contributions) will streamline some features that will benefit us, such as being able to transfer donations (this recently happened for us) without needing to use a date range or repost previous batches.
I like the record keeping of the software and if I run into questions the support team is incredibly helpful.
There are some hiccups with group emails and texts, but it sounds like those are getting worked on. I also think the deposit slip after the contributions should be more intuitive, and list checks in order entered, not alphabetically. Overall though these are small things.
The fund accounting feature is very easy to use once I learned how to use it. I love the immediate reports.

We have been using Icon for a number of years now and I have been impressed from the beginning. We switched to Icon from another church management program and the process was easy, especially with the help from their customer support people. We use it daily for all of our accounting and membership needs, and while it is very comprehensive, it is also easy to use. The very few times I have had a problem, customer support has always been excellent in resolving my issue in a single call. It has features beyond our needs, is frequently updated with new and/or improved features, is easy to implement, easy to use and integrates all of our membership and accounting needs into one awesome software package. I highly reccomend Icon to any church looking for a new software management system.
I see no dowsides to the software, it fulfills our needs 100%.
