The email editor is surprisingly simplistic, despite what it is capable of. It has a WYSIWYG editor that is easy to use and customise to create templates and automated email newsletters. You can personalise the experience of the recipient according to any data parameter that you hold, as well as setting complex automated journeys to achieve specific aims. The platform can provide an incredible amount of insight and your data cut anyway you need it. The overview dashboard is also nice and provides a top-level view including revenue and purchases.
Admittedly, there's a learning curve when diving into the platform's capabilities, beyond the email editor. It took some time to truly grasp its full potential. However, the training was good as is the support team. If you are an analyst, it would be easy. I'm very non-technical.
The team at Hive just make the data problem go away. They man-handle all the available data sources to turn it into something that is truly useable for marketing – which in turn dramatically improves the customer experience of comms – as well as ensuring that the metrics reported on are actually accurate. The ability to create and use intelligent data with automation also makes email marketing much less of a burden on the team. Having always-on email journeys running means that we don't let the customer experience slip and can stop chasing our tails.
There is so much to say as to what we like best about Hive Marketing Cloud. If I have to narrow it down it would be that Hive has powerful analytic tools allowing users to quickly create segments they can drop directly into a journey. Users can optimize each campaign through inclusion of control groups, A/B or multi-variate testing. Deliver message content to email, SMS, Telephone, Direct Mail, Social and Ad Technologies. Users can also build in pauses to allow customers to evaluate your offers or Hive can just listen until an action is completed. Hive will help simplify attribution by users having the ability to define selectable response stages across online and offline channels, and chain journeys together as customers move through their lifecycle.
I would say users will find this a little overwhelming or complicated at first, however Hive delivers great tools to help users navigate through each step/process. Once users have the opportunity to work in the platform they soon realize how valuable it is.
Because of the nature and volume of our business we do receive a lot of requests on how best to use or enhance the platform, along with how to make processes more efficient. Hive’s partnership to addressing each one has been valuable for progressing to the next level on journeys, journey history, implementation of various channels, API assistance and recommendations, reporting, and more.
The ability to create bespoke personalised email journeys based on any data attribute and segmentation, and how we can efficiently track the campaign ROI whether the booking was via phone or online. Support is the best I have experienced.
Nothing really. It does exactly what I expect.
We have a lot of disparate data and Hive brought it all together. We can now effectively market to our various segments in a much more targeted manner, and focus the creative and messaging accordingly. Prior to using Hive we could not do this. By marketing in this way we have hugely increased our revenue and conversions via our email marketing and also increased overall customer satisfaction.
The Hive system is fantastic and allows you to drill down and interrogate your data and also set up automated marketing campaigns based on this information. I really like a couple of the smaller things, such as being able to do a text search for data fields; thus making them easier to find! Plus the new inbuilt stock image library in the email editor has been an excellent addition!
Hive can be quite complicated to use - especially when building custom fields. However, Hive put on an excellent training course which I found to be very helpful. The support team are also always on hand and are very quick to reply.
Hive is allowing us to run automated marketing campaigns and has removed the need for someone to manually have to build retention-based emails each week - we now just build the initial journey, set it and leave it.

The ability to interrogate our single customer view data in detail ourselves and in great detail and then visualise it in different ways and then integrate this seamlessly into campaign journeys.
Some data understanding is needed to get complex information. Complex counts/expressions and pivot tables can be tricky because of how tables are joined but this is true of most databases I think, not just Hive and is more about the users knowledge.
The Hive Marketing Cloud allows us to cost-effectively have and maintain our single customer view marketing database which we use across DM and email campaigns. It is brilliant at helping us better segment, target and visualise our customers and their behaviours.
