"Easy to use, yet powerful SIS and more"

What do you like best about Alma SIS?

The ability to run comprehensive yet customizable reports for almost every single need.

What do you dislike about Alma SIS?

State reporting can sometimes be wonky, but that is not specific to Alma.

What problems is Alma SIS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Alma is the system we use for student attendance tracking, grade book, reporting on all levels, re-registration, and e-mail communication with parents.

"Ease of Use"

What do you like best?

It is easy to find grades and class rosters. The menu is user friendly, which is especially good for teachers that struggle technologically. I like being able to find information on each student, including home phone numbers and siblings in the school. I love that everything we need for school on a day to day basis is easily accesible, including the school calendar. I love how easy it is to upload comments for report cards and progress reports.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that I am not able to print grades for individual students. Or not being able to print out class grades per subject. Sometimes I need to print out an individual students' grades but I cannot. I feel that sometimes I want to print out an individual students' grades so that I can show them which assignments are missing, or below grade level.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Of all the systems I've used in schools for grading, this is one of the easiest to use.

I am able to quickly see student attendance and average grades. It is also easy to upload student behavior with the management tool. I love the daily attendance and the fact that I can see the whole child's attendance at a glance.

"Alma is the best!"

What do you like best?

Alma is a great program. It is user friendly and the online staff is available anytime with a quick response.

What do you dislike?

I would like to be able to create my own reports by choosing the fields I choose.

Automatic grading according to the pre-defined grading policy.

What do you dislike?

If I really have to sqy something, well, it doen't keep a backup of emails sent to students or parents.

I also wanted to let you a know a solution to email back-ups. There is button you can check in Alma which sends you a copy of each email. Hope that helps!

"A flexible and responsive SIS"

What do you like best?

Entrepreneurial spirit. Alma has a “yes first” approach to customers and customization.

What do you dislike?

Some GUI issues in the grade portal. Alma should have customizable features for platform viewing and assignment type sorting. The mass alert system should be managed at the District level rather than an individual school level. The vendor for mass alerting is not ideal.

Have a point-person with tech and organizational skills who is ready to lead the charge

"Great program! LOVE!"

What do you like best?

Customer service is great! They are willing to help custom it to what fits best for your school. Awesome program! I love how you can change the settings for display, etc. Anytime there is a problem they are quick to get a response to you. Will always recommend.

What do you dislike?

I would like to be able to customize settings more on transcripts to fit our schools needs.

Sometimes the classes cannot be changed or will not come off once the year has started.

Freedom to use the program as needed. Its great on student profiles, parent profiles, etc.

"Amazed by Alma"

What do you like best?

Alma is built on a competency platform! Their support and service are truly outstanding, and the product has allowed us to develop a more user friendly, student centered education system.

What do you dislike?

There is nothing to dislike; however, when thinking about how Alma is growing, it will be great when their database provides more flexibility for custom reporting.

If you are serious about doing competency based education the right way, then Alma is perfect.

Alma has allowed us to actualize our vision, bringing a student centered, competency based education approach to all of our schools and districts. Alma provides the best approach to scoring students on competencies and standards, which in turn help us redesign what assessment and instruction looks like in order to better support students and learning.

"Wonderful integration with Google Classroom!"

What do you like best?

I love that I am able to grade assignments in Google Classroom, and easily sync them with Alma. This saves me so much time, and allows me more time to spend planning lessons for my students.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was the option to sync all classes with Google Classroom simultaneously.

Alma has reduced our costs for printing and mailing report cards. We now just email them to parents and students.

"Alma makes life easy"

What do you like best?

I love how user-friendly the system is for both administrators and teachers. It is very customizable and easy to make edits when needed. It's easy to set up and train a person who isn't too tech savvy. It is easy to navigate, pretty self-explanatory. I love the help section and how it caters to all learning types. I also really like how things are documented in real time. No back dating. Not to mention Alma has a great support team. I love how we can copy info over to another school year as well.

What do you dislike?

I dislike how we are unable to take attendance if they left early in the first half (they way we have it set up) I wish we were able to search by user-defined fields. I dislike that we cannot create custom reports and run attendance reports similar to "Class Attendance-ALL" but include the student in that report. In the view attendance section on the student profile I dislike how it counts a missed/late period as a missed day, I would like it to be separate. As often when I go in there I'm looking for the absences for the entire day. I manually have to find and count those.That's all I can think of for now.

We are solving everything we are currently utilizing Alma for. Benefits include running reports for info we would have otherwise traditionally had to keep track of, amongst everything else Alma is great for.
