There is nothing that i dislike about Edsby software.
Communication with teachers, booking appointments
Edsby helps our students, parents, and faculty to connect and communicate about the learning in and outside of the classroom! Edsby has helped staff to share information and student progress or areas for improvement with ease. The Edsby interface is very intuitive, and so allows for ease of access as well.
The challenges we have had with Edsby are more on the backside of things - such as when there are "known issues" and the timeliness of things being updated. Also, often there would be new features added that we didn't know about before release so keeping staff up to date and trained on these new features was at times tricky.
Keeping in touch with families and students has been ideal in Edsby, students can take ownership of their learning, and faculty can share what is going on in the classroom and help staff and students best understand expectations in their classes.
Edsby has been an invaluable tool while we have been doing remote learning this year. It was our central spot where we kept all our information. Kids knew where to go and where to find what they needed. We also made use of groups where kids could chat and connect when they weren't at school together in-person. It has been really helpful! I have also liked how kids could answer other kids questions. I often found another student having answered a student's question. It was a great way to build a community of learners.
One of the challenges has been kids forgetting their passwords or not remembering to check Edsby. As long as they remember where to look for the information, it has worked wonderfully.
We have been able to find ways for kids to make connections with each other while doing remote learning.
Setting up is very easy, has fantastic performance, and the end-user experience is excellent. Edsby also provides the most effective communication tool for schools.
There are bugs in some new features like quizzes and polls.
As an Education Management Assistant, I find Edsby an excellent office tool for communicating with parents, students, and staff.
PROS: Educators can take a breather because of this application. We don't have to send out monthly reports to parents anymore as the app does it for us daily. To add to this, students can check class requirements wherever they may be.
CONS: We have nothing to dislike about the program. It only gave us great benefits.
PROS: The platform was able to allow us to easily interact with different people from our institution. It also keeps all our information in one place so checking records is relatively easy. Edsby's customer service is also responsive whenever we have any inquiries.
CONS: Though all information is kept in one place, improvements can still be made when it comes to tracking specific data.
Edsby has different aspects that allow for easy when using the app.
Sometimes there are giltches in the app.
The Edsby feedback team is not as fast in getting back to you on specific issues.
Easy to navigate through different classes. Attendance printing for staff who cannot access a computer.
Data, the teachers, the parents, the admin and the students can always keep up to date on everything that is going on.
We use a proficiency scale for grading (as is now required) and single letter formatting in the grade book can be challenging. For example, based on provincial standards, we need to use Emerging, Developing, Proficient, and Extending. In the grade book, we can only use one letter as a representation for that scale. As you can see there are two "E's" Emerging and Extending. So we have to use "M" for eMerging in our gradebook. Not a big deal, but some teachers find it irritating or confusing to use the scale M, D, P, E entering data for the proficiency scale. That's probably a comment more about the proficiency scale but seeing as it's a government requirement it would be nice if it worked a little nicer with the system.
Report cards are simple; everything pulls from the system. As mentioned above, there are some issues with non traditional, grading like a proficiency scale but it's workable.
Edsby has been an excellent tool both prior to, and during the pandemic. It meets our needs for internal assessment tracking, internal and external student and parent communication as well as a variety of other added benefits.
Edsby is a vast system and understanding and utilizing all of the features takes a long time.
Analyzing and having critical conversations around student data.
