User-Friendly Interface, Extensive Integrations, Automated Part Numbering, Strong Customer Support
Solidworks Plugin Issues, Lack of Currency Conversion, Occasional Bugs and Glitches, Manual Data Entry for Some Features
Duro is a cloud-based PLM platform that users praise for its user-friendly interface, robust features, and responsive support team. The platform is particularly lauded for its seamless integration with SolidWorks and its ability to streamline change order processes. While some users express concerns about missing features and occasional bugs, particularly with the SolidWorks integration, Duro’s flexibility and rapid development cycle provide hope for future improvements. The platform is seen as a valuable tool for managing complex products, particularly for smaller companies looking to establish a centralized source of truth for product data.

Duro's web interface is sleek and intuitive, with multiple options for creating or adding to a component database. Their Solidworks integration allows for seamless linking of existing CAD files to the web database, and their change order system automates what used to be a tedious and paperwork-intensive process into a few simple clicks. The most impressive part, however, had been the white glove handing of the migration process. Duro's staff has been nothing short of amazing during onboarding, often answering email questions in a matter of minutes. Kellan and Merritt have shown repeatedly that they not only value our time as much as we do, but that they understand how messy the switch to a new platform can be and are willing to entertain client-side suggestions to smooth the process- even for unique use cases.
At this point, any of my concerns about using Duro involve issues tied to using generic PDM (Box) storage and are already on Duro's radar to be solved when they release their own PDM solution. Things like how certain documents are updated on the web side after being generated during a release might be short term annoyances (and these are issues that we have simple solutions for), but they are far outweighed by the value Duro brings to streamlining so many other aspects of our PLM needs. It's a great platform with the promise to be an even greater complete product management solution.
Duro streamlines our change order process, allows us to easily access information about even the largest assemblies in one place, generate complete design package documentation with only a few clicks, and loop our contract manufacturers into our internal change orders.
Duro is a great lightweight, easy-to-use PLM tool.
I would highly recommend this tool to anyone as their first PLM to scale their engineering org.
- EE items, the MPN auto-match feature is great and is a huge time saver!
- Intergrations are included with the enterprise plan, with no hidden add-ons or 3rd party finger-pointing.
- Duro is fast to set up, and the interface is simple and user-friendly for quick team onboarding; if you're looking for TeamCenter, Arena, Windchill, etc level feature set, just get one of those tools and spend ~6 months setting up and training team members and 2-3x the license cost.
Duro is an excellent fit for small to mid-scale teams, but it may not include all the bells and whistles of other tools. I would suggest researching the features you need and check with the Duro team, as new features are released often.
Part Number, BOM, ECO, Integrate with CAD and MES tools.
Duro is very easy to use and has all the functionality we need for our business. The supporting team has also been excellent to work with, further enhancing the experience using the tool.
This is a tricky question to answer, as we've only just started using it and we really haven't experienced any issues. We have reported minor bugs, but they've been handled well by their team.
We use Duro to execute all of our Configuration Management activities. This includes controlling and releasing project documents, company procedures, and all other types of hardware, software, and document Configuration Items.
I like how Duro can be used in different ways, depending on the company's preferences. It can be used in either a model/digital-thread centric focus, or used as an indepedent documentation repository.
The integrations with design software (Solidworks, Altium, etc.) still have kinks that need to be worked out. But notable progress is being made, and the team at Duro doesn't have a habit of over promising.
Duro is solving the problem of storing design, documentation, and procedural information in inconsistent places and formats across a single company. Duro helps its users standardize numbering and revision schemes, alligning both technical and non-technical personnel on where to find the correct design document that you're looking for.
Top level is very simple, the interface is clean and since it is a web UI it ends up being very similar to ours in a way but unique with the use of the color scheme (which is itself easy on the eyes).
I also liked the Solidworks Add-in.
I didn't like that I couldn't bulk update certain values (or wasn't able to) when importing a parts list. If it's possible then it wasn't very intuitive and I missed it.
For us at Valispace it gives us a live example of an existing integration with a PLM. What makes it better is that it applies the exact same browser-based approach with a very similar UI and workflow.
The change orders are the most helpful..
At this moment I do not have any dislikes about DURO.
Tracking changes in our designs.
Duro's platform is intuitive and clean-cut. There is an extent of customizability that ensures user success. It contains the basics for product development management and release of the BOM. The best feature is surely how attentive the user support is by the Duro Team; they are responsive and worked with our team to understand the platforms' capabilities and future add-ons.
We were unable to utilize the McMaster part sync. However, I believe that aspect is only being further developed for future ease of use.
Duro has added competition to the marketplace with their platform. It was a great investment for our start-up company to familiarize ourselves with the user interface.
Duro allowed me to reference small parts within our larger assemblies, while tracking the cost of each component. This was very helpful as we began to understand BOM cost in a market of rising prices.
Some of the User Interface is not intuitive at a glance. I should have used more of their included informational material, but there were some things that were not apparent to me on the surface.
Duro is helping us understand how the market of rising prices affects our BOM cost, and allows us to visually reference small parts and assemblies. This is allowing us great insight into how we will source parts in the future, and when our design will change.
Having come from a traditional aerospace prime which used archaic PLM software, Duro has been an answer to a prayer. It provides an intuitive interface and features I didn't know I needed.
We've had a number of issues with integrating Duro with other tools (both the out-of-the-box integrations as well as our custom integrations using the change order webhooks). Fortunately, the team have been responsive and helpful.
Building and tracking the design of an orbital launch vehicle. We use Duro to track our designs, manage the configuration and monitor our budgets (mass, cost, etc.).

Duro has really simplified our BOM management. Gone are the days of spreadsheets, tedious and error prone manual entry and updating, and confusion. Now our design engineers can focus on the design work and let Duro take the handoff of fabrication data over to our Supply chain folks quickly and pain free!
Adopting Duro and incorperating it to our workflow was a challange up front. Our workflow didn't map to Duro's processes exactly and we've had to revamp our process to maximize our usage of Duro. Overall it's been a positive as our workflow is now better overall and we can move products from R&D to production much more quickly. My suggestion to others is to adopt Duro early in your buisness's development and avoid the pain of integrating later.
Duro is solving the hassle of generating Bill of Materials, communicating them from the Design Egineers to Supply Chain and working with those BOMS through design changes.
