I love how easy apps are to create for our events, and the fact that your event information from Cvent transfers over to CrowdCompass. Our organization has gone paperless over the passed five years, and CrowdCompass has been essential in doing so.
Honestly, I cannot think of anything that I dislike about this product!
The numerous options to create the perfect app for your event using CrowdCompass a no-brainer!
CrowdCompass has helped us save money in that we are completely paperless for our two larger sized events. Attendees are able to look at their agenda on the app, check-out speakers, look over documents from presenters, and so much more!
The price without any loss of features specifically the tier system which allows you to input schedules and assign them to tiers. Rather than having all of the users have individual schedules, assign tiers so that as many users as possible can have identical schedules. Doing this can turn 500 edits in 20 edits.
Small learning curve if you've never used a event app system before it can be a challenge. If you've used one before this one will come naturally. The game system should be modified to where the admins can choose whether or not the points and modifiers can be changed mid-game. Oftentimes, gamification would be one of the last things we would implement and the app would usually be published before we'd have a chance to edit it however the game system is one of the only systems that does NOT allow you to edit it at all once the app is published. Since admins are in control of the app itself anyways, I feel like the admins should at least have an option whether they want to maintain control of the game system while the app is published (reset points, add achievements, etc).
Use Tier Groups if you want everyone to have customized schedules. Build out the game system first if you plan to use it as changes after publishing are not possible (at the time of this review)
Using group tiers saved us hours of work when providing customized schedules for all attendees
My favorite thing about using CrowdCompass is eliminating the need to print agendas and other materials.
Would like to see more gamification options. Perhaps a way to build a mixer into the app. Also, would like to be able to create a post-session survey for each session (this is available in the DoubleDutch app which was recently purchased by Cvent).
I highly recommend CrowdCompass, especially if you are already a CVENT user.
The app has become our single source of information. We communicate multiple times prior to the event, letting our attendees know that there will be no printed agenda and they must log into the app. Our registration staff is prepared to reiterate this to attendees and assist them with logging in. This drives our app usage numbers up. During the event all communication takes place through the app. The completion of the feedback survey is required in order to receive a certificate for contact hours and the survey is only delivered via the app. The presentation slides are attached to each session for download or viewing prior to the event. It has become crucial for us to have all attendees at least minimally active in the app so we can ensure communication during the event is reaching them. The app is easier and faster than drafting and sending emails which may not get read until after the event.
That you can connect with attendees of your event even if you've never met.
There are a couple of places where to upload documents, like the agenda. Navigation icons and pages. It took me a minute to find out which one will display on the actual app icons.
Push notifications and reminders work great to get in touch with everybody already there. Some people don't have their business email on their phone and you may not have a good way to get in touch with them on site.
CrowdCompass is really easy to use and program, even when you aren't particularly tech saavy. All of the widgets are self-explanatory, the graphics are listed out with the details of each spec needed per mobile device type, and you can queue up notifications with the click of a button. The icons are customizable and can be updated to fit your specific graphic needs, and it's a seamless update between the data you host in your Cvent Event Management Account into CrowdCompass ... so attendee info, sessions, etc. all populate. It's also a great tool because - once your attendees have it downloaded - it's easy to search for new meetings that you launch within the platform (if public).
It's still a little challenging to link all of the content to the right icon, and it can be hard to fit all the info you need on the screen as icons and copy can only be so large/long. I think that's pretty standard for apps, but choosing the dynamic screen can help quite a bit with that if you have a meeting that's driven heavily by an agenda. It's also challenging to have attendees turn off notifications when we really bank on those to get key messages out.
We are solving for no paper! It's amazing to not print massive binders and to drive our team to using the app to be sure they get important messages. We can push all content to the app and try to limit the number of calls/texts we get on-site as well.
I like the design and easy navigation throughout the entire app. Especially having my schedule on the home page
You need to hit the more button in order to see the rest of the navigation buttons
It is a great addition to any conference. Our members are now very dependent on the app
Push notifications when presentations are running late, instant notifications to our attendees. The ability to ask speakers questions through the app has also helped speed up our Q&A sessions at the end of a presentation
Easy to use, for both users and administration, great features to keep attendees engaged, lots of information available at your fingertips. Aesthetically pleasing, very customizable. Geo locations helped immensely with finding rooms in the hotel and local restaurants.
Lead retrieval could not be integrated into the app. Some of the backend editing was a little clumsy and hard to navigate but still easy to use.
CrowdCompass is easy to use, customizable and functional. They have lots of features, so make sure to speak with your Cvent representative and make sure you know about all available features. It's a powerful app.
Allowed us to have a great interactive platform for our Annual Conference to let attendees, speakers, business partners, etc. engage in meaningful networking. Much higher engagement at our conference than years past.
This app is SO user friendly. A lot of my attendees are not necessarily the most tech-savvy people, but this app is so easy to use. They love how clear all the icons are and how everything they need is right in the palm of their hand! They can even access the app on their tablet, or from their laptop/desktop computer.
Sometimes I wish I could be a little more creative with the design, but other than that - it really does everything I could ask fo!
Give it a try - we've had excellent success in implantation, and you won't know its worth until you try it.
Because of this app - our conference have gone completely paperless! Its been amazing. All schedules, Q&A, polling, bios, maps - its all right on the app!
Ease of use and integration with Cvent. It it's simple from a user perspective and builder perspective.
Nothing. I honestly think it's easy to navigate from an attendee point of view and also from a planner point of view.
The support from the staff is great and makes the process of learning and using the software less stressful.
We were able to completely move from paper schedules and paper surveys to digital schedules and digital surveys. This brought down workload for our employees in terms of printing and processing.

What do you like best?
For our delegation trips to Washington DC and Mexico City, customization and on-the-go push notifications are key! We loved the customizable graphics allowing us to make the branding consistent (plus the ability to monetize sponsorship opportunities). On the trips, things are also in a state of flux with room changes and multiple schedules and tracks for our attendees. The push notifications were extremely helpful!
What do you dislike?
I'd love for attendees to be able to see who else is registered for each session in advance... that would allow them to coordinate ride shares or just connect prior to meetings. Perhaps there is now a way to do this, but we had to use workarounds - we uploaded a list of registered attendees to each session as a pdf - however, this didn't update as attendees made changes to their schedules...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Depending on the demographics of your attendees/users, I'd recommend communicating a LOT in advance of your conference or meeting - especially if you haven't used apps before. Send them detailed instructions for install and use with photos to back up your directions. We had some difficulty getting folks on-boarded at first and offered an in-person prep meeting in which we went through the different aspects of the app. Now our attendees are so used to it, and absolutely love it!
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
-huge time savings for staff hours
-the app makes us more nimble to changing schedules
-we have better communication and engagement with attendees
-we can give sponsors reports on engagement
-we've completely eliminated printed packets for our attendees (greener option, and $ savings!)
