Great pricing compared to Miro or Mural and paired with its 100% GDPR compliance, an excellent and easy-to-use online whiteboard. Collaboard has a very good customer support and offers a phone support as well as personal trainings which can be very helpful if you have to onboard larger teams.
Their template library was still minimal when I started using Collaboard 1.5 years ago. Nevertheless, they did a great job and expanded their library with many valuable templates.
Collaboard helps us in our daily work to be more efficient. To collaborate time-independent on one board allows the different team members to add content 24/7 without the presence of the other team members.
Collaboard offers an on-premises solution - so it can be run on a virtual machine in your own infrastructure (below 200 users) or on Kubernetes supporting various infrastructures like OpenShift, Rancher, IBM Cloud, etc. (for a large group of users). This makes it very attractive for me, as I'm working in a global healthcare provider's research and development department where data sensitivity is key. In addition to that, Collaboard is very easy to use and new joiners on the board will get used to it immediately.
So far I'm very happy with this solution and I'm still learning to become more efficient in handling the board. With having little practice at the beginning it took me some time to switch quickly within the different selection options at the navigation bar on the left.
We mainly use Collaboard during our clinical trials where we work closely together with various stakeholders (internal & external) in the design thinking process.
Collaboard has a nice and user friendly interface. It is 100% compliant with GDPR and from a price perspective very attractive compared to its competitors. I can Collaboard highly recommend.
The export feature for QuickLinks as PDF is not available yet. But according to their published roadmap on their website (https://www.collaboard.app/roadmap) it should be available very soon.
I mainly use Collaboard for workshops, brainstorming, design thinking and creative sessions. With the help of Collaboard our remote teams can work very efficient at any time.
From my perspective, Collabaord differentiates itself from its main competitors as follows:
- Proximity to the customer - Collaboard offers telephone support and conducts personal trainings.
- Collaboard is available in many different languages: English, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Swedish.
- The solution is 100% compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation and the data can be hosted in a secure European cloud (for eg. Open Telekom Cloud) or on-premises.
- Collaboard is about 30% cheaper than Miro/Mural for the Enterprise solution. - Straight forward UI/X - The number of features does not overwhelm the user. - Collaboard offers a customer-specific branding in the enterprise solution
There are several great features for me, including:
1) Templates: These are great for prompting ideas and structuring of workshops, and then again later for the formatting of client reports
2) Security: this has helped convince clients that their ideas and thoughts are protected
3) Pricing: Simple and focused on my consultancy/consultants, not the size of my clients, which is hard to predict.
4) Improvements: It appears that the Collaboard time is committed to continuous improvement; there are always minor tweaks/additions that smoothen out the user experience.
5) Browser-based: This allows much broader use and much less stress on my end educating and ensuring clients are installing apps before workshops - I send a link, and they open it; it's that simple.
6) Doesn't need access to the Client Organization: With Teams, we've had several challenges collaborating with clients/contractors from different organizations whose MS environment doesn't want to work well with the MS environment of another company.
7) Simplicity: I'm impressed that despite working with clients from many countries, having to spend lots of time preparing them to use the software before the workshop is time-consuming and costly. With Collaboard, this pre-work is cut enormously because of the simplicity.
So far, there's nothing that I dislike. As with all software, from time to time, I have thoughts of improvements I'd personally like, but then I also understand it's a balancing act not to make the software too clunky. Actually I check the Roadmap (https://www.collaboard.app/roadmap), and often my thoughts are already captured, and if it were that important to me, I'd submit there - to date, I've not done so.
As a consultant whose core function is collaborating with clients globally, and with the reality of the pandemic restricting workshops, it was critical that we adapted and found new ways to keep clients engaged and collaborating. Through Collaboard and Zoom or Teams, we've been able to ensure the continuity of our business. Yes, there's still a loss of that 'face-to-face' engagement. Collaboard helps to bridge that gap - people can now engage, they can watch the board, write, read, respond, draw, add documents, etc., and they feel like they're contributing rather than just passively sitting and listening (and eventually sleeping).
Miro and Mural have reached the point where they're charging more for features that the typical person is unlikely to use, and this almost everywhere leads to organisations putting limits on licences whereas Collaboard gives you the fundamentals and more for a great price so that you can have more people using it. I simply have no concerns about using Collaboard when I work with clients and I can absorb the costs rather than it being another charge that I have to justify.
No software is perfect, and Collaboard is no exception - for me I'd like more integrations. I'm confident this will increase in time but call me impatient I'd like more now!
I worked with coaching teams and with planning team work for the next quarter. These activities simply would be impractical because of COVID but with Collaboard it's a effective alternative to face to face.
One thing I have noted and loved about Collaboard is its ability to work well with other products to make the user feel comfortable using its features and interface and this has been made possible by the way it allows me to extract all my data from Microsoft excel document into the board. I have seen that the upside of this integration comes from how convenient I can use excel to input data and use Collaboard for presentation and demonstrations which makes my workflow much simpler.
Another feature that I have come rely on can be found in how much Collaboard has managed to promote collaboration whereby I can see mouse pointers of my other team members with their names on my board and in this way we can focus and contribute almost physically on the same board which is an added advantage.
I also like that Collaboard has allowed me to edit uploaded documents by extracting pages and saving them as single pages on the board which is very helpful whenever I want to focus on a certain scope and not on the rest of the document pages.
The touch sensitivity of the board when I am using touch and drop feature is not smooth and reliable since it lags at times and objects might drop in the process of moving them.
I recommend anyone considering Collaboard that choosing this product would improve and help their workflow to be much smoother and less time consuming.
I do a lot of video referencing during my board presentations and I had been facing challenges when I am uploading videos because of different file sizes, formats among other reasons but Collaboard has managed to solve this issue with its integration with Youtube whereby I can just easily drag and drop a video for reference purposes which makes my workflow much simpler.
The use of the collaboard has a lot of flexibility - it's great as a blank canvas not only to" throw" ideas, but it can also be used to organize thoughts and share a roadmap. I also used this as a boar board style to prepare for the event with a group and it worked very well! This helped us organize what we wanted to plan/record and organize the event easily,
If you're someone who likes mental mapping, this tool is definitely suitable for this account. I used it to do it, but I also used it for production for my studio company. When working with customers, it is difficult to show the "big picture", so being able to view everything and link everything to photo and video links if necessary has been very helpful in making vision clear for everyone
Only thing for me would be mobile optimization for better editing.
If you are looking for a better miro alternative, try it once at least you will be suprised!!
I work with Facebook coaching teams and with planning teamwork. this would be a nuisance if collaboard was not there to unite everything in one platform.
Collaboard is a virtual whiteboard that can be used for brainstorming, research, and interactive meetings. It's so easy to use. You just open it up on your browser and you're good to go! The best part about Collaboard is the clean interface. I don't have to worry about any extra distractions or unneeded features when I'm working because Collaboard has everything right there in front of me.
In the last couple of months, I have used Collaboard for different purposes, some of these are:
1) As a virtual whiteboard to take down notes while attending an online course
2) Creating team sticky notes
3) Story Boarding
Collaboard has made presentations and whiteboards easy, it's definitely worth the price.
Collaboard allows me to add videos, photos, and PDF files to the board.
Collaboard doesn't have a folder structure yet. I would really like to have a folder structure so that I could better organize my boards. The UI/UX is still not the best out there. Hopefully, they will update it in the next iteration. Copy/pasting is also a bit slow sometimes.
Collaboration is a much-needed skill in today's work environment, but it can sometimes be difficult to get past the logistical hurdles of sharing documents and collaborating with your team. Collaboard helps us solve this big problem. Using Collaboard, I can collaborate easily with my team members. We can create mind maps, sticky notes, etc. It now serves as a central board in our organization, we collect all information required for each particular project in it.

As the CTO working for a small organization (around 75 employees) in the healthcare research space, I have long been looking for an adequate and secure online whiteboard solution that can be deployed on an appliance. With Collaboard, I found the right player within the market that allows me to leverage the data security advantages of Collaboard (a Swiss-based company) with an easy way to install it in my environment.
So far I definitely can't find anything that I didn't like.
Our teams are using Colloaboard in their innovation workshops.
