CW is a thoughtful and well designed inventory system. As we use the system for managing inventory, costing recipes and tracking sales data, it very much forms the backbone of our back end ops. Its powerful tools of data analysis and sophisticated integrations allow it to connect all of the various aspects of our operation and to organize and present the diverse data it collects in a meaningful and useful way.
CW utilizes some truly innovative techniques to greatly streamline the process of doing inventory. Before choosing CW, we carefully considered 5 other established inventory systems, and ultimately felt that CW was the best fit for us. A lot of the other systems advertised their many features, from assistance with ordering and printing recipe books and handling schedules to printing prep lists. CW was the only tool we had looked at that offered any substantial improvements to the basic process of managing inventory, and it was clear that they did this very well. Their improvements dramatically reduce the vast amount of data entry required by most inventory tools. The result is a product that is easier to set up and easier to operate. To us, this made CW stand out.
The team at CW is responsive and thorough, and clearly dedicated to the success of their clients. They have provided us with ample support at every step of the way from set up and implementation through daily operation.
For us, there are no downsides to using COGS-Well.
We use CW for inventory management, tracking sales data, for tracking variance in theoretical costs. In managing inventory, CW has saved us enormous amounts of time in compiling monthly inventory reports, and helped to make our reports far more accurate. In addition, the visibility CW has given us into our costs has allowed us to improve margins in several areas.
The team at COGS-Well has implemented a platform that includes all of the important features of an inventory system with a streamlined user interface. Like any system, it takes some training, but because it is intuitive, one can get up to speed quickly. We use Toast and Quickbooks Desktop, and COGS-Well integrates well with both of those applications.
An effective restaurant inventory system is complicated and takes an investment of time to get rolling - there are no ways around that. The team at COGS-Well helps with that and minimizes the pain for the user.
Like any system, the more effort you put in up-front, the more it will pay off when using it.
Inventory counts, inventory value assessment, automation of ordering, and loss calculation. We've seen marked improvement of COGS and labor costs.

Ease of use, lightning-fast implementation time (a few days!!!!), intuitive interface, and fantastic reporting options. CW focuses on managing inventory and does it flawlessly. Setting up inventory items is a snap, creating recipes couldn’t be easier, and the reporting provides restaurant operators the ability to see actual vs theoretical depletion based on POS data.
This is the easiest, fastest, and most accurate inventory management system, period.
There are improvements that could be made such as being able to move/drag tabs, allowing for multiple items to selected for historical cost trends, and a larger layout for configuring inventory items when organizing “shelf-to-sheet” in the system but these are minute problems when balanced against the advantages of the overall system and most certainly when compared to other inventory systems.
Outstanding software and you will not be disappointed!
Better inventory control, ordering/forecasting, reduced shrinkage/waste, ongoing actual usage vs. theo usage data, recipe cost trends, better menu engineering decisions, and simplified inventory counting/entering process for all end users.
