The Certent Equity Management platform is an essential part of me managing our stock options and ESPP contributions. The customer service team is outstanding.
No complaints. It is a fairly pricey service but it is necessary for our business.
I am not familiar with any of Certent's competitor products but from a personal experience of managing equity awards in a spreadsheet, Certent is far superior and more accurate.
We have improved accuracy and it is a huge timesaver over manually tracking options and vesting.
The platform was able to provide any combination of data in multiple formats allowing us to automate the integration with our ERP.
There is no trading platform for participants. This was resolved with an easy integration with a preferred broker.
Automation of program reporting for Company and participants.
Software manages a vast amount of data and compiles reports as needed.
Due to the amount of data and the numerous reporting functions and how all is tied together, small changes in data can cause unforeseen issues in other areas.
Our equity program was untenable to manage without proper software.
The customer service is great. Very knowledgeable.
I currently like everything. I have no current problems.
Use customer support. They are there to help.
Stock Compensation
Support, Always friend, and always willing to go above and beyond.
Reporting. Although the standard delivered reports can get the job done with modification once in it's excel, it would be nice to be able to create your own reports similar to how BI Cognos analytics allows.

The service desk personnel are very responsive. They are also experts in the field of equity compensation accounting and will do their best to ensure you get the accounting right for your specific transaction, no matter how complex or obscure it may be. The reports generated by the system are easily audited, which is good from both an internal controls standpoint and from an external audit standpoint. Any summary report used for disclosures can also be ran as a detail report to aid in completeness and accuracy testing. The tool is quick and allows many users to be in the tool at the same time. The roles are very distinct and allow for some users to just generate reports and not make any changes to the awards. The sandbox provided by the tool is very good for experimenting and seeing what will give you the results you need.
In the past, the SSAE 18 report provided for the firm had certain holes that caused headaches on both an internal control and external audit side, as the client would have to have compensating controls in order to make up for the internal control deficiencies. This has improved over the past few years, but there's still some reports that are used during the equity process, such as for EPS calculations, that are still not covered by the SSAE 18 report. I would like to see more of those reports tested.
We use Certent to track our equity compensation as well as aid us in our EPS calculations. The Certent tool is very easy to use from a report generation standpoint and eliminates time spent performing tedious calculations and record keeping.

Accuracy of they system and ability to adapt to our business needs, which can be very unique at times. Handled a complex spin-off transaction. Staff is very experienced and understands the system.
Interface with bank of America with regards to performance shares. Currently does not have functionality to support exchanging data for performance shares.
Automation of all calculations. Accuracy of accounting.
